It is truly unfortunate that I have to write such a negative review, but after my experience with Bianca on the phone I am compelled to do so! A colleague recommenced this practice for dental work. I am considering several dental procedures so I decided to give Smith&Smith a shot (BIG MISTAKE). I called the office on November 11^th at 5:30pm to inquire about insurance coverages. I informed BIANCA that I have Metlife PDP plus dental. I was informed by BIANCA that they only except PPO insurance and i would not be covered. I thought that was odd because i called metlife and they listed Smith&Smith as a IN-​NETWORK provider. I asked BIANCA if she could please double check and she responded «NO I CAN NOT CHECK UNLESS YOU ARE A PATIENT». Hummm how can I become a patient if you can not determine whether or not your office excepts my insurance??? I have never had this problem at any other dentist office, as a matter of fact I just called another office, gave them my insurance info and they were able to easily identity IN-​NETWORK coverages. This is very disheartening, as I like to support other locally owned businesses. BIANCA failed to perform a simple task (check my coverages)

At first, I was really excited to find such a friendly dentistry practice in my neighborhood. The office is well-​run and high-​tech. After my second regularly scheduled 6 month cleaning appointment, I will never return to this place because of a fraudulent diagnosis and pressure to pay for unnecessary treatment that is not covered by my insurance. Let me start by saying that I am in my 30s and have never had a single cavity or other serious dental issues. I floss and brush regularly. As I have moved repeatedly in recent years, I have seen several different dentists in four states, all of whom have commented on my excellent dental health. After looking in my mouth and at my x-​rays at my second appointment, Dr. Smith informed me that I «needed“periodontal scaling and root planing on four teeth, and that I needed three cavities filled. This was to cost several hundred dollars that would not be covered by my insurance. There have been no major changes in my health or hygiene practices, and I asked Dr. Smith to explain why I suddenly had so many dental issues. His response was vague, and while listening to him, I could hear the dental hygienist ALSO telling a patient in the next room that he needed such procedures. This made me suspicious. I asked for just my normal cleaning to be performed, so that I would have time to consult another dentist. **Dr. Smith’s practice refused to perform the cleaning! I was told that I needed «deep cleaning» and that it would be «unethical» for them to do a regular cleaning – this is totally false. Even if you think someone needs «deep cleaning,» a «regular» cleaning is better than nothing. I visited another dentist, who determined that I have NO cavities, and no need for periodontal scaling. I have since researched this issue and found that this sort of fraudulent diagnosis and unnecessary treatment is a way for practices to earn money. Dr. Smith was ready to totally unnecessarily charge me a lot of money AND DRILL MULTIPLE HOLES IN MY TEETH just to build his practice.

Let me start by saying that I hate going to the dentist. In my mind it’s always painful and expensive. Anyway, I decided that this year I was get serious about my dental care. This office is very close to my home so, after reading the Unilocal reviews I decided to give it a try.
First and foremost, the office is clean. I can’t tell you how important that is to me. There is nothing worse than walking into a dirty medical office. I was seen by Dr. Patrick Smith. I needed some work done that I had been putting off forever and when dentists say, «treatment plans», I tend to get nervous. However, it was very inexpensive in comparison to other treatment plans I had received and I was able to get everything done within a few visits. I had an issue after one of my visits (no fault of Dr. Smith’s) and when I called the office they were able to see me that same day.
I’m not really into small talk but when you are in the chair he will chat you up to make you feel more comfortable. This is lost on me but I am sure it is very important to some. I think dentists learn this in dental school??? Anyway, he’s an awesome dentist and I would highly recommend him.

Dr. Smith in response to your response about our shared experience at your place of business I lived the extra cost of your incompetence and although you have many glowing reviews as of this date… im glad to know that you have finally evolved in the art of dentistry.

I’m not one to throw around Five Stars. I was in pain. Made a phone call. Got an appointment in 65 minutes. Walked in the door. Tasha was kind. Sat down to put on my headphones. Asia came out before I could put them on to put me in a chair. X-​Rays within 10 minutes. Full consultation in 20 minutes. Clean, professional, modern dental studio. Hygienist was prompt, honest, and insightful. Dentist was clear, thorough, and kind. I had a follow up appointment in 2 minutes. In and out in 45 minutes. A stand up job from start to finish. Seriously though. If you’re looking for a quality, professional experience, Smile Studio was on point.

Went to Smith & Smith today for work on a crown and had a wonderful experience! The gentleman at the front desk was very professional and greeted me warmly when I arrived. Was seen by Dr. Patrick who has that special touch that is very important in a dentist! When he gave me the shot to numb me up it was almost painless. He was able to get me numb in one shot whereas with others I usually need two or three. Dr. Patrick was very patient and gentle with an A+ chair side manner. His assistant was also pleasant. The office is very modern, clean, warm and inviting. Looking forward to my next appointment.

I’ve had to update my previous review and take the office down a star. I set my appointments for tmy next cleanings when in the office. This was completed and I was scheduled to return on a weekday at 6pm, however every follow up call I received the week of my appointment said 5pm. I called the office and explained that my appointment was for 6 and had always been. They told me I was mistaken because the last appointment is at 5 and there are no weekends either.
I explained that not only was this info in my phone, I had an email AND the reminder card. I was placed on hold for 5 minutes then told, oh, we changed our hours a few months back and rescheduled your appointment…(REALLY? Did you think maybe I would have liked to know that considering I don’t even leave work until 5pm?)
I know that the folks who work in this office have lives they want to get out of the office and enjoy, but one evening or weekend per month would have saved you a customer who has sent 7 other insured customers your way.

This is more of a question & comment more than a review. Is this office still open? I have used their website several time to schedule an appointment and have been unsuccessful at getting someone from the office to respond. I’ve tried to use their website this morning, just to contact them about scheduling an appointment and the page for submitting the information isn’t active. I’ve tried calling to schedule an appointment but I get a message that just states, «D2411, Test Successful». Does this mean they no longer have this contact number, 773−938−0058. Anyone know anything about this dental office???

I’m a huge fan of Smith & Smith. They are local, professional, polite and do great work. I love to see young entrepreneurs doing great things! These guys will have my business for a long time, even though I’m moving out of state.

*****UPDATE****: Within an hour of posting this review, Dr Ozzie had everything worked out for us. He almost immediately replied to this review with his cell phone number and we were able to discuss the issues mentioned above. He apologized for the difficulties we had in the past and was able to fix our issue with the antibiotics. His response to this post was really professional and courteous and we enjoy having him as a dentist and hope to stay his patients for many years to come.
*Disclaimer — I only gave four stars because I don’t like that they are taking away their Saturday hours completely, even though I understand that most people don’t come to Saturday appointments. I just have a personal preference for weekend available hours because I know sometimes that is the only time I have free. BUT otherwise, I would give 5 stars!

My fiancé and I have been going here for the last three years and when it’s good, it’s really good and when it’s bad, it’s shocking. The offices are very clean and modern with helpful and friendly staff. Dr Ozzie is very knowledgeable and skilled and seeing him is a pleasure. After many years of avoiding the dentist and feeling like each one I visited ripped me off, Smith and Smith Smile Studios was a refreshing relief.
However, if you need a dentist that is willing to do emergency calls — forget this place. They have inconvenient hours and only work one Saturday a month. My fiancé has had reoccurring infections in his two back teeth and if he needs medication surprisingly and the Dr is not in, they won’t help him! it is ridiculous for us to have to go to the emergency room just for antibiotics when my dentist could just take one quick phone call at home. Lord knows that many of us get house calls from work, and I think my dentist should be able to take one as well!
Honestly, I really love going to this place but the constant unavailable convenient hours and absence of medical care in urgent situations is really turning me away. I hope they read this review and make big changes, otherwise their clientele may unfortunately begin to dwindle.

My childhood dentist was decent, and his office was somewhere that I went twice a year because I had to. Thanks Mom. I was referred to Dr. Ozzie Smith by a friend, and 25 years later after some not so great experiences I had a healthy fear of being in that chair. I made Dr. Ozzie aware when I sat in his chair the first time.
Dr. Ozzie and his staff are both professional and make you feel at ease when you are in their presence. He tempers skill with humor and on more than one occasion he has addressed dental emergencies quickly. Without a doubt, Smith and Smith Smile Studios are a high tech dentistry office and I am glad to be a patient.

This is the best dentist office in the state of Illinois. My wife was looking for a dentist office close to our neighborhood and decided to give them a try a few years ago. She was impressed and suggested that I go check them out. I was impressed from the moment I walked in the door. I received a very warm welcome from the staff. The dental assistants were great. Dr. Ozzie explained everything really well. I’ve had everything from wisdom teeth removed to an implant put in my uppers. Great dentists, great staff, great office!

One of the nicest, most technologically modern, comfortable and professional dentists I’ve ever been to. The staff is very friendly, tech saavy, and the technicians gentle handed. The Dr Ozzie was fabulous. Relaxing and efficient from start to finish. I got my husband going there and now plan to start my toddler and preschooler there. I know they will be in very capable, gentle, expert hands.
Dare I say, I like going to the dentist now? Or rather, I love going to the dentist now! [insert toothy grin]

S&S Smile Studio did a great job on a routine cleaning and two follow up fillings. I would recommend their professional services to anyone I know. I felt very comfortable and the procedure was painless. Great choice!!!
