I hate going to the dentist. Haaaaaaate it. The last dentist I saw was mean and scammed my insurance which made me extra cautious about picking a dentist. So I put it off. For three years. Yikes.
I finally decided I needed to stop being a baby and got the info for Smiles on Elston from my mom. I was in today and had a great experience. Dr Alkass was super nice and didn’t give me any grief about the state of my teeth. The cleaning was rough, I’m not gonna lie, but it was as painless as it could be thanks to the doctor and staff.

I was very impressed with this office. They really DO live up to their name; ‘Smiles on Elston.’ The girls at the front desk were such nice, caring, ‘smiling’ and friendly people. They even asked me if I had noticed the coupon on Unilocal,which was worth a $ 90 savings! They didn’t have to make mention of that at all, I was already there.
The office, itself, is spotless and comfortable. You can watch tv while you’re waiting, and choose your favorite flavor K-​Cup coffee, or a nice refreshing drink of water from the water-​cooler. And, of course, there are lots of magazines to choose from, as well, and an immaculate restroom readily available.
I really like this dentist. He knew exactly what he was doing, and had all the up to date equipment on hand, including a camera so that I was able to see all too clearly what was going on inside my mouth.
He took his time explaining the necessary steps, and noticed that I had an infection that needed to be healed before he could do the work. He sent me home with Amoxicillan and pain killers, which did the trick just fine. Then, a few days later, he removed my wisdom tooth with skill and very little pain, and told me that if I had any problems at all, just to call these numbers on the paper he gave me, no matter day or night.
I felt like this was a place where the people were genuine, and really care about their patients. I was very happy with my experience, there, and will keep this dentist for life.

I chose Dr. Alkass because of the the reviews he and his staff got here. They are as good as the reviews say. Jasmine, Stella and Dani are very pleasant. Dr. Alkass is very knowledgable and patient with my questions and would explain very well what the dental plan is. My dental insurance only covers injury. They are very considerate in telling you how much each procedure would cost before performing or scheduling it. Looks like I found my dentist!

I mean I do not love going to the dentist. Actually I used to HATE IT. But ever since seeing Dr. Alkass and his staff I truly enjoy it. I came in for treatment for a cracked tooth which was apparently a filling that had come loose. Dr. Alin was very informative and kind and took the time to listen to my tooth anxiety and fears. I have seen him multiple times since and every time it’s been a pleasure.
There are a lot of places you could go to for your oral health, but really why would you Smiles on Elston is the best =)

Great staff! Dr Alkass is knowledgeable and kind, everyone else is great too. The office is undergoing some renovation, the last star is with the assumption they’re in the process of doing a little updating.

I needed a new dentist after a questionable filling at my old one (and some other odd practices…). And my 3 yr old son needed to see a dentist for the first time. I considered a practice specializing in pediatric dentistry, but decided to take him to Smiles on Elston, hoping to find a place that we could both go to. Wow — am I glad I did! We had excellence service from start to finish. Appointment making was easy, staff were very friendly, and Dr Alkass really knew how to work with a child. My son was very nervous to start, but Dr Alkass very patiently showed him each tool (mr. thirsty, the air puffer, the «train light» on his glasses) and gradually got him comfortable with each. He would test each out on mommy’s hand, my son’s clothes, etc. until gradually my son was OK to use them in his mouth. In the end, my son was holding mr. thirsty himself while getting his teeth cleaned! With the time and care Dr. Alkass took to make the visit a positive one, I’m looking forward to my own appointment there next month!

I just went here today for the first time. I was very impressed with Dr Alkass and his staff. Dr Alkass seemed very understanding and I felt very comfortable with him. While the equipment wasn’t as nice as some other dentists I have been to downtown (old chairs, no tvs, etc), the dental equipment that actually matters (cameras, xrays, etc) seemed great. Will definitely be going back.

I can’t say enough great things about my experiences at Smiles on Elston, Dr. Alkass and his awesome staff. Everyone in the office is so nice, from the Dr. himself, to Mae, his awesome dental assistant and Stella, his office assistant. They all truly care about your well being and comfort, pre-​visit, during your visit and even after you’ve left!
I woke up in severe pain yesterday morning and called the office before they opened to see if I could get in asap. Dr. Alkass call me back personally and fit me right in same day.
Dr. Alkass will do anything to save your tooth! Initially he tried replacing an existing filling hoping that was the cause of my discomfort. The procedure, as with others I’ve had there was painless and quick. However about two hours later after the novocaine wore off I was still in pain. I called right back and he saw me again, same day!
Unfortunately I had to have a root canal, but again, the experience was truly exceptional. It was over before I knew it! Dr Alkass and his caring assistants always make sure you are comfortable, even for the most anxious patient like me. They check in with you often during the procedure and it puts you at ease. I am so thankful he was able to solve my pain issue in one day. I couldn’t imagine having to have gone through the weekend with the pain I was in.
I was so relieved when the novocaine wore off a second time to find the pain was gone. I thought I would lose the tooth for sure but Dr. Alkass was able to save it with a root canal and a crown. He reassured me the entire time and gave me all the information I needed to understand what was going on and what my options were.
Stella followed up the next morning to ensure I was still doing ok, which is so appreciated.
I highly recommend them and can’t say enough great things. I don’t dread going to the dentist when I know I’m heading to Smiles on Elston because I am sure they are going to take great care of me and my teeth :)

After my previous dentist retired (my family and I were patients for 30+ years), I didn’t have a plan on who we should see for our dental needs. My husband and I decided to try Dr. Alkass, who had taken over the practice.
My husband and I are very pleased that we started seeing Dr. Alkass. He has been helpful and attentive during our appointments, and he makes you feel at ease and comfortable during your visit. The staff at Smiles on Elston are also very professional and have a way to make visiting the dentist a pleasant experience. I really appreciate the care that I’ve received from Dr. Alkass and everyone there.

Mom started experiencing a toothache right before catching a flight to visit me in Chicago. Faced with escalating pain, she consulted a trusted friend who highly recommended Dr. Alin Alkass. Don’t ask why she didn’t consult her own son for a dentist recommendation; that’s still a bit of a sore subject.
Being a good, albeit a little hurt, son, I looked up Dr. Alkass on Unilocal and was pleased to see that every review he had was five stars. His star average was much better than that of my dentist. He lived up to the positive reviews and even kept his practice open afterhours on a Saturday to see mom.
Dr. Alkass has an excellent bedside manner and was very concise on the work that needed to be done. Mom was not thrilled to find out she needed a root canal. It was going to be her first ever. The dentist’s confidence and demeanor seemed to put her at ease.
The procedure took place a couple of days later and was time consuming. Again Dr. Alkass worked well past the official closing time to make sure that it was properly completed. He had been gentle with mom and afterwards gave me clear instructions on how I should care for the patient.
Stella at the front desk was very friendly and efficient in explaining the costs and handling reminders via e-​mail and phone. I also appreciated her follow up phone calls to find out how mom was doing.
It’s been a week since mom’s last visit to Dr. Alkass. She is happy with the work done on her tooth and even happier to be rid of the pain.

I had a root canal done here this past week and I can easily say that it was a better experience having a root canal done here than an ordinary filling at my previous dentist office! I was very comfortable and painless during the entire procedure!
The quality of employees that Smiles on Elston has is hard to find!
The office is being updated however, it’s extremely clean and they have up to date technology!

Smiles on Elston has a spectacular team from scheduling, reminders via email & text, to their exceptional technology investment to ensure an accurate ex-​ray with enlarged imaging to see and understand the repairs required! I was referred there when I moved to Chicago and was extremely grateful for the numerous positive experiences… And I’ve needed extensive dental work! Dr. Alkass is truly professional and has a great personal demeanor with empathy for any pain endured! If you need a great dentist in Chicago you can’t go wrong with Dr. Alin Alkass and his very knowledgeable team at smiles on Elston – ample street parking and Saturday hours were also great bonuses!

Had a filling done yesterday afternoon at 2pm. I was seen right on time and the staff was very friendly. I felt no pain at all and Dr. Alkass took his time. Definitely one of the best dental experiences I’ve ever had!

I’ve been a patient of Smiles on Elston for more years than I can remember, so I was concerned when Dr. Malitz retired and Dr. Alkass took over. Knowing that Mae and Lorraine, the best Dental Tech and Hygienist ever, were staying did relieve my concerns a little, but they were all put to rest today
Over the weekend I broke a tooth and when I called this morning and explained the situation, Stella fit me in for an afternoon appointment. Dr. Alkass and Mae fixed my tooth in about an hour and saved me from having to get a crown right away. The staff and Dr. Alkass are tops in my book and I always know I can count on them when there’s an emergency.

Alin Alkass is a miracle worker… when my wife fell and knocked two front teeth almost out he rushed her in for the appointment within minutes of the fall and repaired her to normalacy within an hour to this day she is perfect 4 years later.
Alin is a pain free dentist who is compassionate, highly skilled and cost affordable.
I highly recommend Dr. Alkass and Similes on Elston… we trave 42 miles to see him that is how good he is.
