One of my favorite Thai restaurants! Simple, fast, friendly service and a cost efficient spot for being in Gold Coast. Oh! And its BYOB! Chicken Pad Thai, Beef Pad See Yew and the green/red curries are my favs.

By far one of my favorite Thai restaurants in Chicago! Each time I would go to downtown Chicago I would always make an effort to have lunch here. The food is amazing and the servers top notch! The restaurant itself could use an upgrade BUT who really cares about that lol. If you ever get a chance to visit this restaurant I highly recommend it. Bonus: the prices are reasonable and the size portions of the entrees will leave you full! Enjoy!

This is our go-to in the area. Decent price, good food, quiet, warm. I’ve only had four or five different things from here, but they’ve all been good if not great. Would be five stars if the staff was a little more welcoming, but hey, we can’t all fake-nice at work. If you’re ever stuck in this part of town and don’t want to settle for pricey restaurants, mediocre chains, or fast food joints, go here! Sort of a safe haven.

While most of the dishes are slightly Americanized Thai, the fact that many, if not, most Thai restaurant diners never traveled to Thailand, allows Silver Spoon to remain slightly authentic. The menu is generally reminiscent of Thai with a hint of Mandarin, which at least keeps the flavors similar to dining anywhere in Thailand, and that’s what makes the overall experience a positive one. The thai fried rice, the pad thai, pad si ew, baby egg rolls and rangoons are perfectly flavorful, sauces are tasty without an outpouring of sodium or a hint of spicy hot — just the way I like it. Most of all, the vegetables are extremely fresh, colorful, crunchy and slightly crispy. For the Gold Coast, you couldn’t ask for a better price and an overall yummy, filling meal. Finally, I like that the place is not easy to find. Kind of cool to have to venture down steps to locate this treasure.

Went here for dinner and had the baby egg rolls as an appetizer. They were plain and simple and I would probably not get them again. For the main course we had the Red Curry which was fantastic. It had just the right amount spice. My girlfriend choose the ginger chicken and was not very impressed. Not sure if it had been sitting in the kitchen window for a little bit, but it was not served hot at all and was pretty much cold after 2 minutes. The interior is definitely not targeted to have this as a nice sit down place and take out seems to be their main business. It is also BYOB.

I love Thai food and this place is consistently good. Been here a few times for dinner and tried the pad thai and a few different curries. If you like to play it safe, the pad thai is a good choice. A little sweet and a little savory. A lot of different veggies and ingredients mixed in. Their curries are also very good. I don’t handle spice very well, but was able to eat the mild curry without a problem. It’s something that I definitely can’t make myself and this place makes it very well. As for drinks, I really like their thai ice tea. It’s really sweet, which I like. The servers are always nice, and even during rush hour, there are open seats. I guess it’s not as trendy as the upstairs Friends sushi, but the food is solid and there is no wait. A good place for a casual dinner with friends.

Pretty good food. Depending on the switch of cooks; there are times when your going to go and the food wont taste the same every time. This only happens once in a while, but overall decent Thai fare.

I can only speak for delivery. I have never been to the location. I was in Chicago for 3 days and all 3 days I ordered from Silver Spoon because it was so amazing. I am very picky about Thai food as it usually is not spicy enough or too sweet. However, the Green Curry and Yum Pla Muk was to die for! Additionally, the delivery was immensely quick

I ordered sweet and sour chicken and a Thai iced tea. close to 15 dollars. Portion is small, taste is average, and chicken to vegetable ratio is very, very bad. None of you know me, but I have no problem dropping 20, 30, 40 bucks on a «Good Lunch» the cost of this lunch was way too much for what it comes with and the quality of the food.

Ordered combination rice, $ 12.95 which was kinda expensive, but I thought it was going to be good at least. I was wrong. The beef was dry, the chicken was dry, the shrimp undercooked, the rice didn’t taste fresh. I didn’t try anything else, but I won’t go back to do so.

Ordered delivery once from this place. Most watery curry I’ve ever seen. Sauce? More like soup. There’s thin curry, and then there is literally boiled vegetables in water. Not only that, the mushrooms very clearly come from a jar or can. The food is super bland, and I have pretty bland tastes to begin with. Plus I was hit by overcooked vegetable smell as soon as I opened the container. I can cook better than this myself, and actually had to recook the food myself into something palatable. Unacceptable by any standard. With great Thai options like Baisi Thai and Siam Rice in the area, I’m not going to order from this place again. If you’re still determined to try this place, here’s some pluses: The woman I spoke to on the phone was nice and clear. Portion sizes are reasonable for the price. Delivery was on time, despite snow. It’s not inedible.(You’d be surprised how much edibility can be taken for granted.)

I want something a little bit different for lunch, so I joined a group of three on a trip to Silver Spoon. In keeping with my personal rule of «order something on the menu you’ve never heard before», I got the Kang Pa. Which, incidentally, ended up written on my receipt as: . The Kang Pa is some sort of a «jungle curry» with thai eggplant, green beans, and bamboo shoots. It’s a wonderfully flavorful clear broth, spicy with no coconut milk at all, which is different from all of the other Thai curries I’ve ever had. I spooned it onto the white rice that was served with it, making a delicious treat. The green beans were crunchy, the bamboo shoots al dente. Overall I liked it a lot! Despite the odd basement seating space, I liked the food enough to plan on coming back. As a bonus it was only about $ 10 for lunch!

I was just looking to grab a quick bite and then head to class at Loyola. I was very pleasantly surprised! I had an order of crab rangoon and then the massman curry– it was perfectly spiced and very delicious. I had plenty of left-overs for lunch the next day too, which made the price even more reasonable. The ambiance of the place is nothing to write home about– and there was a large group in there eating dinner together, otherwise it would have been very quiet and only a couple other people in the place. They had all brought wine and beer making me think the place was/is BYOB. I would have been happy about this, but I was on my way to class :) I would go again, by myself or with a group of people or my husband. The food tasted exactly how I wanted it to– no surprises. Maybe not the most adventurous of thai places– but met my expectations, no questions asked. I was in and out in 35 minutes, just what I needed that evening. If I find myself in a pinch for food down there again, I will certainly go back.

I officially love this place for Thai food. The servers are so friendly and the food is the best Thai I’ve had so far in Chicago(I’ve been to Opart Thai, Duck Walk, Dao Thai, and Big Bowl). It’s in a hidden location but it’s really convenient to walk to from the Grand red line station. I like how the tea cups come with their own tea bags. My boyfriend and I usually order 3 dishes and have leftovers to take home. The servers push 2 tables together for us so we have enough room for our dishes. There are usually many open tables, which is awesome because I don’t need to wait for awesome Thai food. You will see some of the staff eating their meals at one of the tables close to the kitchen. This isn’t distracting to me as I understand there is probably limited table space elsewhere in the already-small restaurant space. The servers would sit there and keep an eye out on us so they are ready to serve us when we need them. That’s good! The Pad Thai with Beef(ask for it to be spicy) is really good — it has always come with lime in my order, there are peanuts near the side of the plate, and extra fresh and crunchy bean sprouts on top; the Pineapple Fried Rice with Beef or Chicken is great(non-spicy) because the pineapple juice balances the deep taste of the rice(perhaps from fish sauce); and the Thai Fried Rice with Beef or Chicken is yummy because it has depth in its taste(perhaps from fish sauce). The Yellow Curry with Chicken(spicy) goes really well with rice and its leftovers taste even better. I’m looking forward to trying more of their dishes and I am loving how they deliver and I haven’t had to wait to be seated yet. There is a bit of a glare on the small mirrors on the walls from the overhead lighting, which I don’t like so much, but I think it’s only at the table I’ve been sitting at near the center of the dining room. Perhaps other tables don’t have that glare.

I’m clearly still desperate to find a good thai food delivery place as my go-to, because thai food is comfort food for me. I tried Silver Spoon yet again, hoping for a different outcome from prior experiences. We got the curry fried rice, which was oily and just okay, as well as Panang curry, which was better. While not my go-to, it is the best backup I can suggest for now.

Great friendly staff, ready to help :) Yummy sweet cheese Rangoon & yellow chicken curry. The curry tastes on the healthier side, not as rich/creamy which was ok with me.

Silver Spoon is OK in that your food comes out quick, the food is reasonable price and the service is good. However, there’s nothing special about the food that would 1) make me tell people about it, 2) make this my go to Thai restaurant downtown or 3) make me rate the establishment higher than 3 stars. There’s another Thai restaurants I prefer and will stick to as my go to place when that Thai Monster in my stomach wakes up and needs to be fed.
