I recently sold my condo through Shay, and I can’t say enough good things about working with her! The process of selling was smooth and well organized. Once I was done with improvements (painting, cleaning, etc.), Shay came over and we spent a couple of hours staging the place. The pictures were fantastic (also, she has a decent chance of starting a side business in rearranging furniture if she wants, because my place looked great!), and my condo sold very quickly. With two offers on the table, she talked me through my options. It was also my first time selling, so I didn’t entirely know what was happening at times, but Shay was supportive and patient in explaining the process. I’ve already started sending friends her way and I’m so happy I found her!

As a fellow Realtor in Cincinnati OH, I have sent two great clients and friends to work with Shay in Chicago in the last few years. An established couple that were sophisticated buyers were thrilled with the attention and dedication that Shay had shown them when they came to town for a Relocation tour. I also referred Shay a very young family that needed to buy their first home. They too, have raved about how patient and helpful Shay has been throughout their first purchase. I can not say enough great things about Shay! If I could give her 6 stars then I would. I worked with Shay over two years ago to find my current place and I still refer my friends and colleagues to her! I found Shay online one evening answering questions on a live chat through her company’s website. I only had a little over three weeks to find a place to stay before my lease ended. She truly made «my fire her emergency», it seemed like she was working around the clock sending me potential listings, knowing that my needs were time sensitive. What I love best about her is that she is reliable, responsive and not pushy. She was even quick to point out certain features in units that she knew would not make me happy. As stated before, I still refer anyone I know with housing needs to her. One of my friends who was searching for a home outside of her jurisdiction, told me that she made a wonderful referral for them, since she was not familiar with the area. The icing on the cake is that Shay GIVES a percentage of her commission to the animal charity of YOUR choice. How can you not like a selfless, philanthropic business woman?! We were so thankful to have met Shay when we were looking to sell our home. We had met with other realtors over the past year and had been so disappointed. We hired Shay the day we met! Shay was the most helpful person ever! This is not an over exaggeration either, from soup to nuts Shay was there to answer questions, provide helpful proactive information via her blog, provide referrals for everything under the sun (handymen, painters, cleaners, dog parks, etc.), and she was extremely patient answering all of our questions and driving us across the city to view 35+ properties in just 3 days. We just closed on our home purchase in July 2014, after a grueling 8 month search. As first time home buyers, we were nervous, confused, and pretty much clueless about the entire process. Shay alleviated all of those issues by providing us with an amazing level of dedication, patience, and focus. Our buying experience was somewhat difficult, as we were looking in some of the «hot» neighborhoods where demand was high and supply low for single family homes under 500k. Shay presented us with many different ideas; moving slightly further from the el to find our perfect home, doing a gut rehab, buying a multiple unit building. Throughout all of the iterations of our plan, we never felt pressured by Shay to follow any of those paths. Shay educated us as we moved through the process, and ultimately helped us to define what our real wants and needs were.
I can’t say enough about Shay’s dedication to her clients. During our search, we found ourselves in many different high pressure multiple offer situations. In all cases, Shay dropped what she was doing to help us. Days, nights weekends, while on vacation (in Italy!), whenever we needed Shay, she was available to us and dropped everything to help. Buying a home is incredibly stressful, and I can’t imagine what it would have been like if we didn’t have Shay. Shay is part realtor, part teacher, part therapist. After being beaten out in a bidding war on one property, we were pretty much ready to give up. Shay did everything she could help us through the process; she even offered to take my fiancé out for a glass of wine to talk her off the ledge! She is the type of person that bends over backwards to help people. If I called Shay tomorrow and asked her to stop by my house to let my dog out, I have no doubt in my mind that she would do it without hesitation. That’s just the type of person she is.
When we had finally settled on a home, Shay was incredible at walking us through the next steps. She helped with the inspection, the attorney review, all the way through closing. When our closing date forced us to re-​sign the lease on our current apartment, Shay was there without us even asking. She had a professional photographer come to our place, she handled listing the property, doing the showings, everything! Needless to say, she had it rented within 24 hours.
We interacted with many other realtors on the selling side, we’ve talked to our friends about their experiences. Your realtor means EVERYTHING. If you wanna find the best possible home, you need to work with the best possible realtor, and that is Shay Hata.
