Sharbel, a private mortgage banker with PERL Mortgage, has a decade of mortgage experience. In addition to his own production, Sharbel has managed a team that has brought him priceless experience in closing loans. He is working toward his goal of being one of the nation’s top loan originators by 2016.

If you’re even considering about making a purchase, contacting Sharbel and his team is one of the best moves you can make.
I reached out to Sharbel a year ago to get rate quotes and to try and purchase a unit in Old Town. He told me flat out, after researching the condo association and its management team, that they would be the bottleneck and that the chances of the deal closing would be very low. Not liking his response, I engaged another mortgage provider that gave me the answer I wanted. Sure enough, a few months into the process, and a few $k dropped on lawyers fees, appraisal and home inspections and moving fees. I found out, on the day of my closing, that My closing date was being pushed back indefinitely due to the condo association/​management — exactly what Sharbel had told me months before.
What hurt was that no one had told me about the delay and I had already sublet my apartment and packed all my things thinking it was a done deal. So I had to find a new apartment, and move, for nothing.
Eventually I ate the loss and decided to move onto a new unit, as the condo association kept missing their deadline.
6 months down the line, I found a new unit in the South Loop that I loved, and remembering how upfront and honest Sharbel’s team was, I gave them the business for the new unit.
Sharbel, and his entire team, were very professional throughout the process. They front-​loaded most of the work, but after that it was smooth sailing. They kept in touch with me throughout the whole process, and Sharbel was always honest about everything (e.g. the chances of anything being delayed, what closing costs would be, etc.). And sure enough, we closed on the exact date we had agreed to when we started the process. In retrospect, if I had jsut listened to him, and his honest feedback months ago, I wouldn’t have wasted a few $k chasing a place that could never be. You don’t find too many honest, straight-​forward guys like Sharbel, so I appreciate his effort and approach and would recommend him to everyone.

Buying your first home in a country that is kind of new for you with so many regulations and a lot of vendors trying to get your business can be slightly difficult. Finding a person I could trust was essential for me to move forward.

Looks like I’m the first person to write a review for Sharbel. And the first thing I’ve got to say is that he is THE BEST lender you could EVER ask for. Now I was a first-​time home buyer, and figuring out everything involved in getting a loan and working all the details out on a place before the close is quite the insane process. But Sharbel handled everything with grace, doing what he needed to do to get things done and keeping me in the loop whenever appropriate. You can tell from the first time you meet him that things are going to be good with him as your guy. He has been in the industry for I think 10 years (I could be wrong but it’s around there), and really knows his stuff. He’s also a super cool, super friendly, just freakin super guy to work with. I was told by the seller’s realtor that he was incredible and got everything to her asap and make the process super simple. So when all is said and done, yes this was my first time using a lender, but from the horror stories I’ve heard from friends, I did not have that experience working with Sharbel. He’s quite the class act, and if you find a home that you want and need a good team behind you to make it happen, this is your guy. Thanks Sharbel!
