Second Act is downtown Chicago’s only ABC accredited cancer recovery boutique, specializing in breast cancer after-​care, providing post-​breast surgery products, compression garments, and wigs to cancer patients and survivors. Our Certified Mastectomy Fitter will make sure your post-​surgery products are properly fitted and comfortable. In addition to a range of beautiful pocketed mastectomy bras and prostheses, we carry pocketed swim suits, camisoles, tank tops and t-​shirts. We also feature JUZO compression sleeves and the Raquel Welch line of wigs.

History

Established in 2008.

After losing both of her parents to cancer the owner, Pattie Cagney Sheehan, left a career in advertising, became a Certified Mastectomy Fitter, and opened Second Act. We serve women from throughout the Chicagoland area but located our boutique in the convenient Lakeview neighborhood to make it easy to get to from anywhere in the city via public transportation as well as by car.

Pattie’s parents both died of cancer. In 2008 she left her career in advertising to open Second Act Cancer Recovery Boutique.

Pattie is a BOC Certified Mastectomy Fitter and Second Act is ABCOP Accredited. She is one of only a handful of individuals in the Midwest trained to fit Radiant Impressions Custom Breast Prostheses.

A thought leader in cancer surgery aftercare, Pattie has appeared on CBS-​2 Your Chicago, NBC-​5 Chicago Morning News, CAN-​TV «Hotline», Univision, the NBC Chicago podcast «Better Health», Live with Dr. Sandy on Watch312​.com, Blog Talk Radio’s «Hope for the Journey», Milner Broadcasting and in the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-​Times and Today’s Chicago Woman magazine. She was featured on the Campaign for Better Health Care website, the Chicagoland Chamber and US Chamber of Commerce websites.

Second Act has been a Sponsor of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure since 2009; is a partner in A Silver Lining Foundation’s Chicagoland Cancer Information Coalition.
