This place need lots of improvement. I get a vm saying they have a Q about my prescription. I call back and they say no Q, your prescription is ready. They never ran it through insurance or asked me for my insurance card. The price was not cheap. I asked why they didn’t ask me for insurance, they said I didn’t provide, they didn’t ask. Ok… I said I will pay OOP. Gloria could not locate the ready product for half an hour going through all the bins. The one guy I dealt with was not nice either. Overall CS needs lots of improvement.

Never had an issue in over a year and a half of coming here to get compounded scripts, and Jim, the head pharmacist remembered me when I would call or come in. They were also very helpful in transferring our prescriptions when we moved out of state. Prices are fair for Chicago but a bit expensive compared to some mail order options. Regardless, the customer service is top notch and I highly recommend them.

Great compounding pharmacy! Helpful, patient, informative and accommodating staff and pharmacist. I phoned around for pricing on my compounding script(which aren’t covered by 99% of insurance plans. THAT ought to be illegal) and Save Rite offered the best economy – and they tiered pricing for bulk orders. My insurance gave me completely wrong info when I phoned to inquire about my coverage. When I phoned Save Rite ahead of filling my script, their pharmacy tech gave me the correct information and saved me a load of grief(as in explaining there is no coverage/copay for compounded scripts; I’d have to cover the FULL expense. Kind of a big thing when you’re talking hundreds of dollars). They contacted my physician directly as needed, always returned my calls, and tried entering my Flexible Spending CC in advance to see if payment would go through on it(NO), so I could plan how I wanted to pay when I fetched my script. Even gave me pointers on where parking was cheap and easy to find. They couldn’t have been any more helpful. As for the service animal issue/s noted in other reviews — of course it seems rude/mean for the business to remove customers’ service dogs. I feel for those who are turned-away due to their service animal, but completely understand the reasoning behind Save Rite’s policy. Save Rite does compounding; like a pharmacy«kitchen» where powders and liquids are custom blended and dispensed for people and animals to ingest. This pharmacy is only trying to keep a relatively clean, safe environment for its clientele by excluding service animals. Save Rite is a special class of pharmacy and many of its clientele have extreme sensitivity to various allergens, as well as many seemingly harmless substances that most everyone else on earth can tolerate.

Great service and they are quick and very reliable what mayor pharmacies don’t do at all.

So neat to see an «old school» pharmacy in the neighborhood. I needed some supplies for an ailing mother and these folks could not have been more helpful in getting me squared away with what I needed. Being as I was a little out of my depth it was refreshing to turn myself over to the experts. Store is tiny(and a little cramped). Don;t know if discovering it will replace entirely going to Walgreen’s for me, but I do see future visits for stuff for mom in my future.

LOVELOVELOVETHISPLACE! Used to go to Braun for my Dog’s medications but there were too many mistakes being made. So after using Unilocal and seeing that they compound medication I went in and spoke to Jim. He gave me the options of what he could compound the medication with to make sure that it was the same throughout and looked like a homogenous mixture and not chunky. I work at a Pharmacy so he allowed me to go into the compounding lab and he showed me everything that they use and how they compound medications. It’s also wonderful that they have a window where you can see exactly what is going on, that put me at ease. After talking to the vet Jim called me and said that they found a solution to make the medication and that he will make sure that it is the same throughout and if he doesn’t like it he will make it over and over again until he is comfortable with how it looks like. Well they only had to make it once and it looks GREAT! I am no longer worried about giving my dog her medicine like I was with Braun. And the best part about it? When I went in to pick up the medication Jim went and got it from the FRIDGE!(It might not seem like a big deal, but the medicaiton my dog gets needs to be refridgerated, it never was at Braun) and he told me that it would only be good for 30 days(which I already knew and had to tell Braun to only make a 30 day supply), Its unfortunate that other customers had a bad experiences but working at a pharmacy I am more critical of other pharmacies but this place is great. Best of all I trust them with my dog’s medications, which is not something I could say about Braun.

Unprofessional condensing ignorant staff to customer with service dog!!! Maybe they should look at what a service dog is!!! And what the law states!!! After seeing how they treat customers, I will take my business else where. Will never step foot in there again.

Rude staff at this pharmacy, and IMO they may be in violation of Illinois statutes re Service Animals and the Federal ADA. On June 5, 2014 while in the store contemplating a purchase, I witnessed their counter clerk and their pharmacist demand that another customer with a service animal leave the store immediately upon entry. The customer patiently explained that their small well-behaved dog was a service animal and the customer offered to present their certification docs — «No!“said the pharmacist, «dogs are not allowed here!» As a service to this drugstore, they may wish to visit this link for a detailed explanation of applicable law. I was appalled at the store’s discriminatory behavior, and will gladly take my business to one of the other neighborhood pharmacies that obey the law and actually practice customer service.

Love, love, love this pharmacy! They compound and deliver to my Edgewater neighborhood(no extra delivery charge). I have had quick, competent and friendly service every time and could not be happier to have a place like this nearby.

I need a service dog to get around. I entered Save Rite Pharmacy in Lakeview and was bombarded with quick comments concerning the fact that I had a dog. They wouldn’t even wait for me to get the service dog card out of my wallet. I was backed into the door by the female employee and the pharmacist even after the information regarding my service dog was learned. «We love dogs, but we can’t have every dog in the neighborhood in this store. We have food and people have allergies!!» I asked them to calm down. I told them that those dogs don’t have a service dog i.d. I have to take my service dog to Whole Foods. Though handicapped, I am self sufficient. I also mentioned that I have allergies to smoke, perfume, etc. I don’t like being hassled. I suggest that if you need to make a purchase at Save Rite and you have special needs, example-service dog, you should call ahead so they can get it out of their system before you arrive.

I’ve had such great experiences at this pharmacy. Jim and the rest of the staff as warm and friendly, and they went above and beyond to help with the prescription I needed compounded– even calling me to suggest a way to make it less expensive. Though I suppose I could find someplace closer to home to get this prescription(I drive from across the city to go here), the service has been so great, why mess with a good thing? Highly recommended.

Nothing compares to a neighborhood pharmacist. I have developed a relationship with Jim and his staff over the years that I could never have with a chain. When I couldn’t leave the house, they delivered my medications. I call in and Jim fills my routine prescriptions and has them ready for me. Open till 8:00 on weekends.
