This is a legit review. I’m a real person.
I’ve bought couch with chaise, swivel chair and cabinet bar.
I admire the African American manager and only lady who patiently and considerably dedicated in helping me and on their job. Kudos to both of them.
Although their exaggerated waiting/​manufacturing, they were able to deliver my furniture after 8 weeks, the minimum waiting.
They have a ridiculous delivery window of 4 hours. I would say that they have fairly skilled delivery men because they can’t get through a frame out of the elevator. It’s impossible because my bed which the size of the couch got through that same elevator and got into my condo. I’m just so lucky that I’m still on my way home and only my doorman was able to let them in to my condo. If only I was there, I bet that they can get it in. Now I need to pay $ 175 for «expert» company which I bet is affiliated to them or maybe they’ll get a commission in every referrals to break it apart and put it in again.
My cabinet bar has a lot of defects. I sent pictures to them and I’ll attach here so that everyone is informed. I paid a lot for this and I’m expecting decent work from the company and manufacturer before delivering it. The fact that they didn’t check it only means that they don’t care what the buyer gets. They were able to sell it to me, that’s it. They don’t care if the quality is good. Now I’m waiting for them to reply on my email. If they won’t do a necessary action favorable to me, I’ll definitely file a formal complaint.
Since I supported and believe on this local company/​shop, I hope in the end of the day, they’ll give quality customer service not only on sales but until I received it. It’s just sad that I’ve put them on a good pedestal. I’ve highly recommended them to everyone I know. After all, this had happened to me. It’s really sad.

I really enjoyed my experience with Roy’s furniture. I found exactly what I was looking for at a price that was about 40% less than the comparable couch I was looking at elsewhere. I even found a piece that I didn’t know I wanted at a great price, and it looks so good in my dining room. Mark Pikowitz was great; he made it clear that he was there to help, but wasn’t pushy, which I hate.
The two pieces were delivered less than 24 hours after I purchased them, and the delivery men were fantastic, placing the piece exactly where I wanted them, fully unwrapping each piece, and hauling away the packaging. I highly recommend Roy’s!

Here’s the deal people. If you’re looking for an unbelievably well-​made couch and have the time to wait for it, Roy’s is your go-​to. I ordered my couch February 11^th and just received it last week around May 5^th. Yes, it’s a long time to wait and yes I was very frustrated, but the end result is literally amazing. The good news? The staff kept me up to date the entire time, so I knew the couch was coming. They also didn’t over promise. They told me 8 – 12 weeks, I just got impatient. If you need a couch in a pinch, I don’t suggest because you simply won’t get it fast. End of story.

Great selection of quality furniture. Not cheap, but definitely reasonable. Great sales service as well. It was a refreshing change from the typical over-​priced «boutiques» on the north side.

If you are looking for quality furniture that won’t put you in the poor house Roy’s is the place to go. After looking at sectionals at other stores that ranged from $ 3000 — $ 5500 a friend suggested I check Roy’s out. Upon entering I saw so many things I liked at prices my credit card liked. I found a sectional that I knew was right and when I saw the price tag I almost passed out… only $ 1600. When the employee confirmed that the price was correct I couldn’t believe it. With tax, delivery/​shipping and the 5 year warranty my total was a little over $ 2000.
I would give Roy’s Furniture 4 stars based on their selection and cost. However…
If I had to rate Roy’s based on the amount of time I had to wait to get my furniture I would give this place 1 star. I ordered my sectional the first week of June and was told the estimated time for delivery was 6 – 8 weeks. I called at the 6 week mark and was told it would take the full 8 weeks. OK, I was cool with that. WELL, when we got to the 8 week mark I called to inquire about the delivery date and was told it would be another week… the following week I was told it would be another 2 – 3 weeks. At this point I’m as pissed as a hooker who finds out that the $ 20 dollar bill she was given is counterfeit. Finally, after 13 weeks I received my sectional! The thing that pissed me off was the fact that I had to call to ask for updates. The store should have been calling me with updates once the delivery date they gave me had come and gone.
Overall, I’d give Roy’s 2.5 stars. Since Unilocal doesn’t allow half stars I’ll round up to 3 stars versus 2 because I do love my sectional.

I have shopped around and Roy has: a very convenient location, great hours, good/​reasonable prices, the same selection of fabrics (if not better) than any other wanna-​be-​fancy chain store.
I had bought a custom made sofa there a few years ago, and since I was satisfied with my purchase and the quality, I went back when I needed a 2^nd sofa. The leather sofa I picked this time happened to be right there on the floor AND on clearance, therefore it was delivered just 2 days later.
Customer service is great and efficient. Mark was very helpful.
As far as the delivery, I could not believe how quickly and carefully those 2 nice men carried the sofa to the 3^rd floor. Bravo!

Roy’s Furniture is my new go-​to furniture store in the Lincoln Park area. I moved from Gold Coast a few months back and had to buy nearly all new furniture. I got a sectional sofa and a coffee table from Roy’s and both were delivered in perfect condition, came early, and look fantastic.
Mark Pikowitz helped us out and was extremely helpful and attentive to our needs /​wants. He helped us pick the perfect colors for the sofa and pillows. Thanks Mark!

I had to order furniture for my boss for her new establishment and Jared helped me order the right things and even did a follow-​up to make sure we received everything and it was to our satisfaction. Unfortunately, a lot of the order had to be cut back to due shipping times. If you want to order from Roy’s, I’d say it’s definitely a good choice but order early because most of their stuff does take awhile to ship. Prices are on the cheaper side and the furniture is great! It just can be slow shipping on stuff. Would definitely return and recommend to others.

I’m new to Chicago and was referred to Roy’s when I moved into my new apartment. I worked with Jared who was very helpful and knowledgable. Delivery was on time and assembly was easy. Jared even followed up afterwards to make sure everything went well. Overall a great experience!

This place was great with such a big selection of furniture. I bought a couch that was supposed to come in 8 – 12 weeks and it came in 6! Jared was really helpful and answered all the questions we had. Thanks Roys!

Love love love this place. We saw the display at the garden show and were thrilled. The prices are fantastic as is the service. I wish I could remember the name of the guy who helped us. He was a sweetheart and dealt with my idiotic questions.

Bought a sectional couch for the basement recently — got a great price, delivery guys were super helpful and the sales associate, Kevin, went above and beyond to answer all my questions, was super prompt in responses (including via e-​mail, which was nice) and just generally very professional…

Our experience with Roy’s was great. Jared our sales person was very helpful with the process of buying a table for our kitchen. I strongly recommend shopping at Roy, s.

I loved so many things in Roy’s and found a table that fits perfectly in my apartment. Jared did a great job helping us out and it was delivered (fully put together) within a week! I will definitely go back next time I need something.

My wife and I have shipped at Roys for the last few furniture items we’ve purchased. The staff there has been great to work with and hey always make delivery easy. Jared was especially helpful with the pie chase of our new dresser. We love Roy’s and always send our friends and family there. Quality furniture if you don’t feel like spending a small fortune.

I will say at first I was a little weary about shopping here after reading some reviews but am happy I decided to shop here! Apparently they are under new management/​new staff and you can definitely tell by the excellent customer service I received. I ordered a bedroom set and coffee/​end tables which I was told would come in 6 – 8 weeks. Guess what? I got a call in 5 weeks and was able to schedule my delivery next day! I absolutely love my new furniture and you can’t beat their prices. Also, the delivery guys were amazing. They helped set up the furniture in my home and were fast. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. I’m glad I ended up going to Roy’s and will definitely be back!

So I’ve been reading the comments and I would say it can steer some people away, as it almost did for me but I decided to go in and check the place out. It’s a real nice, clean, fancy showroom. They have a huge selection of things.
As a student, I would say that the price was up there but the quality follows. I purchased a bar cart and I could not be anymore pleased with what I purchased.
When I purchased it, they told me it would take about 8 – 12 weeks being that it is shipped from somewhere else. If you are not in a rush, the wait is just something to expect unless its in stock at their warehouse. I received my package within 6 weeks. I honestly forgot I even ordered it.
I am pleased of their service when purchasing, the costumer service when they called for me to pick up my item and the costumer service I received when I picked it up at the warehouse (which was my choice in doing so).
For my first purchase, Roy’s Furniture is not that bad of a place. So far I’m ¹⁄₁ on my purchases. i will keep you updated when I go back and make a future purchase.

Just got my furniture delivered yesterday-​about a month earlier than expected. Great experience. I visited this eye candy-​filled furniture store over the holidays in search of a solid well-​made sleeper sofa. Before totally making a decision, I stopped by several times asking Jared, my sales consultant, a ton of questions :) He’s knowledgable and approachable; and he helped with selecting the perfect couch, explaining quality differences, demonstrating options available. The best part — he assisted me with fabric selections that will not only withstand kids and pets but also look absolutely SUPER with the paint colors in my condo!!! This couch is probably the most well matched piece of furniture I’ve ever bought.
I love this store-it’s calm, low key, no pressure, with committed employees who assist from start to finish. A special thank you goes to Jared, as this couch looks and feels awesome…

Not a good place to buy your furniture. No word as to when we may be getting our bedroom furniture. Can’t speak with anyone about order status. It has been over two months since ordering from this place and still no word on a delivery date. Customer service is non-​existent. Everything takes 1 – 2 days to get a reply. I would never buy anything here again. Regretting buying from this place big time:(.
My advice. DO NOT BUY FROM HERE. You will waste a lot of time trying to get answers to where your furniture is.

Terrible customer service. We visited today looking to possibly purchase a headboard. When we walked in the door there were 5 people behind the front desk. Not one person greeted us or asked if they could help us. They barely even looked up. I finally had to ask if they had headboards and where I might find them. One of the workers looked away from his computer long enough to point us upstairs. Once upstairs, no one approached to ask if we needed help. In fact, I didn’t even see a salesperson. We did find a small selection of headboards but given the fact that no one was around to answer our questions, etc., we just gave up. On our way out, we passed a sales rep who couldn’t even be bothered to ask if we needed help or if we found what we were looking for. It was apparent from the minute we walked in that the sales staff was not interested in our business. That being the case, I will gladly never return to give them any.

New Management is making positive changes and will continue to shop at Roy’s.

We just received our new sofa from Roy’s, and couldn’t be happier with the piece, the service, and the entire experience. We nearly didn’t go to this store based on bitter previous reviews, but I can say that whatever they are doing with the new management is certainly working.
We were immediately greeted upon entering the store by friendly staff, who was able to answer questions and offer suggestions without being pushy. After settling on a sofa, we were able to browse custom swatches to pick the fabric we wanted for the sofa. We did this KNOWING it would take some time (8 – 12 weeks), for a custom piece, but for the terrific price, it was certainly worth the wait. Crate and Barrel and other stores we checked also had a similar turn-​around time, and this was literally half the price for a gorgeous, modern, designer sofa. Now that we have the sofa, I can tell that it is very high-​quality furniture, and represents a great value for what we got.
As promised, Roy’s called right around 8 weeks, and said that the manufacturer had completed the sofa, and it was being shipped to Chicago, which would take about two weeks. They promised to follow up once it arrived to schedule delivery, which they did. We just received the sofa yesterday, and the delivery team was professional (called 20 minutes ahead of time to confirm delivery, which was on the front end of the 4 hour delivery window they gave me), and took care to bring the sofa up three flights of stairs without any incident; unwrapped and placed the sofa exactly where it needed to be.
We will certainly be going back to Roy’s for future furniture needs, and would highly recommend them in the future for anyone in Chicago looking for a great value.

Great neighborhood place for furniture. It’s not Ethan Allen… nor is it IKEA. Good value for any budget. They have great service personnel that will offer suggestions and help coordinate adding just one piece or buy a whole room. They will even deliver and set up. Scott Kangas was great help. I will definitely be returning…

I love this store. They have great quality items and very reasonable pricing. I’ve purchased many items from Roy’s over the past several years. This year, I was fortunate enough to work with Jared for my latest purchase. He was so helpful and professional. We will definitely be back to furnish the rest of our home!

Just save yourself the hassle and go find another store! WORST and I mean WORST customer service you will ever get on EARTH! this is ridiculous, no following through on anything, they don’t know how to schedule appointments, it’s so frustrating and I regret every second and moment i made when I decided to go in this store and by my furniture! it’s more than a year of going back and forward trying to fix a bad quality furniture they sent me!

Couch up-​date!
[for those of you catching up, I ordered a queen sleeper sofa and love seat on MEMORIAL DAY, yes, that 3-​day weekend in MAY… Roy’s gave me an 8 – 12 week timeline].
Two weeks ago, they said it was shipping on Labor Day, how ironic the next 3-​day weekend 4 MONTHS LATER. I called last Friday and was informed it was shipped on Wed ⁹⁄₉ and would be in my living room this week. I called B/​S from the start, so I decided to change things up and have my male friend call to which they told him, «It was shipped on ⁹⁄₁₁ from California, would be delivered to Chicago by Saturday and in my living room by Tuesday.»
Yes, they deliberately lied to both me and then told me male friend something different. Supposedly the «truth»… Kelly was so rude to me, offered no discount or free delivery, when I didn’t even ask for it until now… the 16^th week– 4 weeks after my intended arrival date. I really hope my horrible customer experience encourages Roy’s to change the way you do business… because this is the worst customer experience I’ve ever had. I plan on contacting the BBB.

Roy’s is really really really bad at estimating delivery time. Whatever they tell you, double it.
Their merchandise is nice, and their prices are good. But only buy off the floor! I ordered a sleeper sofa in a specific color. They said it would take 8 to 12 weeks. It took seventeen weeks. No «we’re sorry,» no apologies, no discounts, no offer of free delivery or a token toss pillow, no nothing. Just seventeen weeks to get my sofa. I’ll be shopping elsewhere from now on.

Would like to give Zero stars if I could.
Same story as many others… After purchasing a couch that we were told would take 8 – 12 weeks for delivery, we waited over 5 months in order to finally receive our couch. Along the way we called for updates and we were promised call-​backs from managers to discuss the delay. This never happened so we would call again. At one point an employee threatened to cancel our order due to our insistence upon talking to a manager. We were finally refunded the delivery fee, but were also promised a $ 75 refund which has never been paid. I would recommend finding your couch at a place with better customer service as Roy’s is unreliable, dishonest and unapologetic.

Clarification — ZERO stars if that were an option.
If you want ANY ounce of professionalism DO NOT SHOP AT ROY’s. We ordered a sectional the last week in February, same story as many… was told 8 – 12 weeks. Never received any proactive communication, was told time and time again that it would be another two weeks and that we would receive 15% and free delivery because of this «unusual issue.» Fast forward to the week of Aug 15^th. We receive a call that our couch can be delivered the following week and we would receive 10% off and free delivery as previously stated. I said that we were in fact promised 15% off and free delivery and the associate said she would honor it.
Come the night before our couch is to be delivered and I receive a message from Johanna saying that it is not «their policy» to give multiple types of compensation and that we will not get free delivery but could pick up the couch at their warehouse should we choose. Obviously I was quite furious that we had been told by MULTIPLE associates after SIX months waiting for a couch that we would receive a significant discount. Johanna told me that was never stated to me. Following my husband and my obvious frustration with the situation, Johanna hung up on both my husband and I three times. When asked if I could please speak with her manager I was told his name is Roy. no last name, phone number, voicemail or email.
The level of unprofessionalism is truly remarkable at this store. We had a wonderful experience with the sales associate in store but sadly that was the last we saw of it. For a paying customer spending thousands of dollars, I am dumbfounded by the way we were treated.
Sadly, I really hoped to have a good experience at Roy’s as a longstanding neighborhood establishment. We love our new couch but you couldn’t pay me four times the worth to ever shop at Roy’s again.
You are MUCH better going somewhere else. Save your money, time and effort before shopping at Roy’s — based on the number of reviews by others this place should be closing in no time.

I really really wish I had read the reviews before I bought furniture from here! Went in in March, and purchased a couch and a loveseat, along with a coffee table. We were told the standard 8 – 12 weeks like everyone else here.
At 8 weeks I called, told to call back at 11 weeks.
I called at 11 weeks (this is middle of May now), was told it might be there in June. When I asked about the delays and tried to get more information, the woman I talked to wouldn’t answer (I don’t think they even had bought it yet!) and hung up.
After numerous calls it appears they have new management, but we’re now told we might get them «sometime in August», though they have no idea when. We’ve been offered 10% off and free delivery, while we’ve essentially given them an interest free loan (we paid half of the cost up front).
The furniture here is nice but you’ll never receive it. Avoid.

Literally if I could give zero stars I would.
My wife and I ordered our couch 18 weeks ago, and was told it would be 12. At week we I called to see what was up, was told someone would call back. No call back. I called back again at week 13 after traveling for business, was told there was a delay and a manager would call me back in 2 days. No call back, so I called again.
Finally after 14 weeks and no warning, was told it would be MID AUGUST when I got my couch. Mid August, and all they offered was a free delivery fee ($ 150 off over $ 1500).
When I called to ask for a manager? Well the first time they hung up on me. Nothing they could do and the manager wasn’t in. The second time I just immediately asked for a refund and to cancel the order. Again, manager not in, hung up on. Third time’s a charm, when I threatened to call the city they finally agreed, but still no confirmation.
Roy’s is operating like a flat out scam these days. Beware because once they have your deposit, they really don’t care about anything else. Terrible customer service, flat out lying and dodging calls.
So no, I will never order anything from Roy’s again.

I read the reviews on Unilocal when I was already on my way to the store and they had so many bad ones that I almost decided to skip going but then figured I’d just go in and see what they had since I was almost there. I also made up my mind that since most people were complaining about the length of time it took to get their furniture that I wasn’t going to purchase anything that wasn’t immediately available.
I ended up finding a nice bed frame that was a floor model in good condition. I thought about it and looked it up online and saw it was twice as much online so went back the next day and purchased. It was delivered four days later and the delivery people were on time and polite. The bed was assembled within 20 – 30 minutes and now I have a nice new bed frame! I realize this may not be the typical experience since I didn’t order anything that had to be custom made but I’m happy and thought I would let everyone know.
It’s too bad they can’t get reliable suppliers since they have a couch I want that’s $ 100 – 200 less than somewhere else but I’m going to purchase it from the other store since they have it in stock and can deliver right away and Roy’s does not. If they kept more items on hand and ready for immediate delivery then I think they’d have better reviews and more sales but that’s just my opinion.
