Walked in and walked out. No attendant in site and needed a card. Card machine was out of cards. Really disappointed because it’s right down the street. Had to walk a few blocks to a better place.

Update — They’re now open again, as of 5÷31÷14. *CLOSED for REMODELING* As of Saturday, 5÷3÷14, still closed. I went there last Friday, April 18, 2014, and did all of my laundry like I usually do. By the next day, a friend told me it was officially closed by the city. There’s a big sticker on the door and now it seems there was some kind of electrical problem? They supposedly will be open soon. Why did I go here? Probably one of the cheapest places around as far as washers go, only $ 2.50 when you use the smallest washers and the dryers were(Yay!) FREE. I hope this place opens soon because it was really starting to grow on me!

If you live in Uptown and you need to do laundry, I highly recommend not going here. Unfortunately, it’s the only laundromat within walking distance of my apartment and — in a jam — I didn’t have any other choice but to come here. The entire place is dingy. It’s clearly not well cared for and even though there is «an attendant on duty», he’s no where to be found most of the time. The machines aren’t cared for very well and it seems as though no one does a ‘cleaning wash’ cycle in order to make some of the machines not smell moldy. Thankfully, I found the cleanest machine in the ‘big load’ row and paid my $ 6.95 to do four loads of laundry at once(well, four normal loads at my house). The only perks of this place are the TVs(though the volume is too low to hear), the vending machine in back, the slightly large selection of detergents on sale(prices were reasonable) and the free dryers. Note: the free dryers aren’t as powerful as the $.28 machines, so you have to leave them in a bit longer than you would if you paid. Upon rereading my review, I know it sounds like this place wasn’t *that* bad; however, I failed to mention above the unnervingly large presence of gangbangers loitering in and around this laundromat after dark. I mean, it was really unnerving. I’m 100% sure I saw several drug deals AND open use of drugs in the laundromat and right outside in the parking lot. I don’t live far from here, but it’s like this place is an alternate universe. The weirdest part was no one else in the place seemed at all concerned with what was happening, not even the one guy with the filled in teardrop tattoos on his face and giant trident tattooed on his neck. There were kids running around playing, people listening to music, folding laundry… it was really, really weird. I have to go back a few more times until my building’s laundry situation is remedied, but I’ll never, ever come back. I will definitely get in my car, waste fuel and drive to a Bubbleland or something because this place is scary and dingy as hell.
