Rose Photo tells your story with the love of the lens. As a historian and sociologist by nature and a photographer by trade, I create compelling imagery that perfectly portrays that moment in time. These are very special moments and photographing them is integeral to keeping the story alive; your story. The honor of capturing those real minutes that pass so quickly to live on forever in imagery is one that I take very seriously.

History

Established in 2012.

A photojournalist turned portrait photographer who now parlays her wide experiences as a wedding photographer has set up shop in the West Loop. After many years in Chicago working for the best studios in the city, Rose found it time to create her own studio to provide compelling imagery that tells a story.

Rose Photo is a studio based on strong personal connections to really come to know our clients’ story so we can create the best set of imagery. With 100+ weddings and a wonderful list of return clients seen multiple times throughout the year, Rose Photo looks forward to many more fruitful years of creating the perfect story with imagery.

It all started when Rose found herself with a genuine, twin lens Rolleiflex camera. That’s right, a good old Rollei with medium format film. When operating this particular camera, Rose noticed she became a curious and active spectator of the minutia in her photographs.

That perspective parlayed Rose’s focus into a direct study of light; after which she developed a dedication to capturing luminance in the perfect moment. Her direction with clients, intention with light & focus with camera creates heartfelt, compelling imagery made to tell stories.

The ladies at Rose Photo are so great! I’ve worked with them on a couple of projects but most recently I found myself in front of Rose’s camera in a sultry yet tasteful boudoir shoot. The whole experience was fantastic. I got my hair and makeup done which I loved. Rose never made me feel uncomfortable and as you can imagine something like this has a high possibility of uncomfortableness. She was extremely professional and set me at ease right away. Even better than the experience was the results, my photos turned out great and my new fiancé was more than excited to see them. The ladies at Rose Photo even helped draft and print a «magazine» of all my photos. What a great gift idea for your loved one or even yourself!

Selecting Rose as our photographer was probably the very best decision we made while planning our wedding. Aside from her incredible talent and professionalism, her warmth really made our photography something special. Her presence at the wedding felt like just another (super awesome) friend, which aloud my wife and I to really open up and show our love for one another. There was no awkwardness or tension — we were completely at ease.
She listened to our needs, negotiated the photos of our crazy big family, and was a complete pleasure to work with. We truly cannot recommend her enough, and we will treasure her pictures forever.

When my friend who is a photographer could not photograph our wedding, I was bummed. Then she recommended Rose and we instantly fell in love. Not only did we like her previous work on her website, but we felt so comfortable the instant we met her. Rose was the perfect combination of professional and fun. She is such a relaxed person and truly loves her job.
Rose took our engagement photos and I swear she had even more fun than we did at the session. The highlight: she convinced an ice cream truck driver to let us get in the truck and take pics! The pictures turned out exactly how we imagined them — a perfect mix of romantic and fun shots.
On the wedding day I was beyond impressed with Rose and her assistant. She was so happy to be there and kept us smiling all day. Even when things were running behind, Rose broke the tension and went with the flow. She made sure to capture every shot that we had asked for and went beyond that to get more that we hadn’t even thought of. The reception pictures are great — she really knows how to shoot a wedding and get some fun pictures. She even danced with us for a bit and her assistant got a great shot of it :)
We will definitely be using Rose in the future for other events!

Rose photographed our wedding, and I was so incredibly happy with our photos. Coming from a family of photographers, getting a good photographer for our wedding was number one priority for me. She was super easy to work with and her artistic eye was reflected through our photos. She was able to capture the most special moments and created amazing memories for us. When my dad viewed them, (a very tough critic) he said «The photographers did an exceptional job. I’m very impressed and I say that as someone that knows how hard it is to get a good set of „natural“ looking wedding pictures. I realize that having the ceremony where it was afforded some additional opportunities like the overhead shots (we were married at Architectural Artifacts), but using the bounced strobes into the umbrellas resulted in some images on the dance floor that really are so much better than the „average reception shots“. Very, very well done.» I couldn’t have asked for anyone better. A huge thanks to Rose and her team.

Rose Photo documented our wedding, and I could not have asked for a better photographer. Rose is a pleasure to work with and incredibly good at what she does.
Throughout the planning process, Rose was responsive and flexible. I planned most of my wedding long distance, and Rose put me at ease about this, being very helpful and quick to respond to emails, calls, and texts. I contacted several photographers before deciding to go with Rose, but none of them compared – she was the perfect combination of talent and ability to work with my budget constraints, and it was obvious from the first time I spoke with her how much passion she put into her work. I also appreciated how Rose guided us through the process by setting up a meeting and sending us a questionnaire. It definitely reduced wedding planning stress to work with someone so capable.
Rose made our wedding day a breeze. After long months of planning, I was more concerned with having a drink or two and keeping my makeup looking great on a hot summer day, but Rose got stuff done. She was friendly and easygoing, but also proactive in directing our bridal party and family through the portraits. She captured great candids as well, truly documenting the day.
All in all, Rose was absolutely wonderful to work with. Her photos are stunning, and every time I look at my wedding photos, I remember how much love and joy filled our wedding day.

Rose did a fantastic job photographing our wedding. She came highly recommended from another photographer we had contacted through Unilocal who was already booked for our date. We loved the style of the photos on her website and clicked from our first meeting. We didn’t have any set locations in mind for our bridal party photos, just general ideas and she came up with great suggestions. Unfortunately it rained during the time allowed for our outdoor photos, but no one to blame for that! Rose still made the best of our time. She captured great photos of both the people involved in the wedding and the venues themselves which is so great to have looking back on the photos now. Rose has a great vision and was easy to work with. She responded to all our questions right away, delivered our photos well ahead of the promised date (for all three items — the social media sneak peak and the online gallery and digital images) and hit all the photos on our list. Our only con was that while we have all the photos on our list, we wish there were multiple takes of some of the portraits (to have a few to choose from based on someone not looking at the camera, eyes closed, etc.). I know the ones with the entire bridal party or family ones with children it can be almost impossible to get everyone looking at once though. Overall, Rose Photo produces a high quality product at a reasonable price. We will enjoy looking back at our photos for years to come. We had a great experience and highly recommend her for your event!

Rose Photo is incredible. Hands down. Rose is great to work with. She is totally responsive, open to working within any specific confines you might have and incredibly talented.
We were looking for a photographer for our wedding and Rose was recommended by another photographer (good sign already!). Within minutes of talking to her, I knew I wanted her to be our photographer. She is so easy going but completely dedicated to her craft. I was impressed by her statement that she enjoys her job because she sees it as a way to document real life. I did my research, looked at her work and booked immediately.
A few weeks before the wedding, Rose sent a simple questionnaire to ensure she hit the pictures that were important to us. A few days after that, we met Rose in person and discussed all of the things we were looking for. It felt like we were sitting down with a friend we’d known for years.
The day of the wedding was great. She was punctual, friendly and stern when needed (read: moseying cousins). She hit all of the pictures we asked for and managed to get a plethora of candids. Even her assistant was fantastic.
The pictures are beautiful and we are so excited to have them for the rest of our lives. She managed to make a bunch of un-​photogenic people look fantastic. Her price is competitive and she is so wonderful to work with. I would recommend her to anyone!

Rose Photo is excellent! Very well worth the 5 star rating! I met Rose when she was the 2nd shooter at my brother’s wedding. She has an amazing personality and gives off great energy while photographing weddings… so when my husband and I were looking for our own wedding photographer, we added her to the list of photographers we interviewed. We clicked from the start. We felt very comfortable with Rose and she did a great job getting to know our personalities and what we were looking for in a wedding photographer. Rose Photo offers a variety of photo package options. We bought a package that included an engagement session, which was an excellent way to prepare for the wedding day and «practice» being in front of the camera together. Rose did a fabulous job incorporating locations that were important to us as a couple. Everyone loved our engagement photos — and those were just the beginning. The wedding photos were exceptional! We continue to receive compliments on all of the beautiful, artistic photos. I never imagined there would be so many (over 1200) gorgeous photos! Rose and her associate did an amazing job capturing all of the important moments throughout the entire wedding day (almost 12 hours!) and the photos turned out perfect! They captured the wedding ceremony, a limo ride throughout the city to some picturesque locales (Rose knows Chicago well) and our dinner/​dance/​reception. Honestly, I could not be more pleased! I am 100% confident referring people to Rose Photo because I know I have the best photos possible that truly capture the most important day of my life — and the photos will help our memories to last forever. Extra bonus: our photo package includes a cd of ALL of the photos!

My husband and I had the pleasure of working with Rose to capture the best night of our lives — our wedding reception. He and I flew off to Paris to get married and then returned to Chicago to celebrate with family and friends. Words cannot express the professionalism, talent, creativity, and loveliness which is Rose. Throughout our planning process Rose had helpful suggestions, was flexible in working with our Paris to Chicago plans, and even coordinated with our Paris photographer to have prints from our wedding in Paris displayed at our reception. From phone calls to joining us at our final walk through and then being everywhere all at once with her assistant at our reception, Rose was able to «freeze time» for us and capture images of a beautiful evening we will never forget. Our reception was only last weekend and we already have a preview of images from the night. Even with only a glimpse of the images, I know that the end result will be breathtaking and I cannot wait to relive our reception through Rose’s beautiful work. Thank you, Rose! You are amazing and we will certainly keep in touch for future events and occasions!

Rose is awesome! She has a great personality and a great storytelling ability with her lens. We did a family /​1st bday photo shoot with her and she was great with our 4 year old as well as the 1 year old. She instantly bonded with the 4 year old and was able to get her cooperate! Our 4 year old keeps asking for another photo shoot with Miss Rose :). Most importantly we love the photos! we will definitely go with Rose again for any future family photos and will recommend her to anyone looking for a photographer.

Rose shot our wedding in downtown Chicago back in October. From the very beginning, we had a great feeling about working with her. We met over drinks and talked about our vision and she explained to us how she captures our moments. It was an easy sell for us, we couldn’t imagine meeting anyone better so we trusted our gut feeling and went with her for our photography.
Rose comes equipped with endless ideas and vendors (which she shared with us) that all turned out to be perfect. Our photos came out beautiful, and exactly if not better than we had hoped.
