Robert D. Galiano, MD FACS is a board certified plastic surgeon who specializes in aesthetic surgery of the face and body. He is an innovative plastic surgeon who also manages complex reconstructive problems, breast reconstruction, difficult scars, and defects resulting from cancer surgery. In regards to aesthetic surgery, Dr. Galiano is acclaimed for his results in breast surgery, rhinoplasty, facial rejuvenation (both surgical with facelifts, necklifts. eyelid surgery, midface lifts, and the creative use of Botox and fillers), mommy makeovers, fat grafting, tummy tucks, and surgery after weight loss. He specializes in achieving a natural look after surgery.

History

Established in 2006.

Dr. Galiano has practiced plastic surgery in Chicago since 2006. He attended Northwestern University Medical School, and developed a love of plastic surgery during the early years of his education there. He trained at the one of the premier plastic surgery training programs in the country (if not the world), the prestigious Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery at NYU Medical Center for 9 years (from 1997 to 2006). His training encompassed all aspects of both reconstructive plastic surgery as well as cosmetic surgery. Dr. Galiano fondly recalls the training he received in pediatric plastic surgery — including reconstruction of cleft lips, cleft palates, and craniofacial deformities — as well as adult plastic surgery. His training was quite rigorous, involving several thousand cases in cosmetic surgery, microsurgery, pediatric plastic surgery, hand surgery, and breast surgery. Robert D. Galiano has performed approximately 6000 operations on patients from Chicago as well as internationally. He has an artist’s sensibility and prides himself on delivering his aesthetic vision through a dedication to technical excellence. He routinely takes on complex cases, including revision rhinoplasties and revision breast surgeries, from other physicians.

He lectures widely on scientific and clinical topics in plastic surgery, and is in leadership roles in multiple scientific and surgical societies. He is also a dedicated educator, having written more than 100 journal articles and book chapters, and even editing a textbook in plastic surgery. He is also committed to advancing the practice of plastic surgery by teaching plastic surgery residents and medical students at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, where he serves as an Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery and is the Director of Research.
