Reflections of Health Integrative Care Center

I am not someone who typically writes reviews, but Doctor Marvin Jackson is amazing.
I have been seeing him for about three years to deal with back pain that had been bothering me for over 10 years and had been getting worse. Immediately his combination of massage, chiropractic knowledge and ability to tune into the body helped me better than any other doctors or chiropractors I had explored (and I had tried about half a dozen others). I’ve recommended him to at least a dozen friends who agreed with my opinion and through his care he has greatly improved my life. And my HMO actually covered it. :)
For any issues you may have with your body, go check him out. He’s great, and his team (Amanda and Miguel) are awesome too and make sure you are put into good hands.

Did I just get punked? OMG. That was the worst 60 minutes of my life. I’m actually laughing as I type this because it was such a joke. I feel somewhat of an idiot because I’m a 31 year old woman and I can’ believe I didn’t speak up. Instead I laid in a sterile room, with the bright sun shining through the plastic blinds, listening to Taylor Swift and Bruno Mars! Burno Mars! I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking this must be a joke but it’s not. I expected a relaxing massage but instead I got a rough massage to the tune of Taylor Swift crying about her most recent break up.
But I do have to say that my bf also got a massage and he enjoyed it. He on the other hand was in a room that was dark, and he got to listen to Enya… Sail Away…
Oh well.

I had an appointment today, but I had to leave a message early this morning to cancel. I woke up feeling sick with a sore throat, stuffy nose, coughing, and could barely talk. They called me back to reschedule and right before she gave me available dates, she told me there would be a $ 40 charge to reschedule. I told her I was sick — you could hear it in my voice! I could barely understand myself! So she went to talk to the manager, who would reduce it down to $ 25. Are you kidding? I mean I understand that it is policy for cancellations, but being sick was completely out of my control! Most places would be sympathetic. Wouldn’t you think I would be doing them a favor helping them by NOT showing up? Maybe I should have gone in and gotten them all sick. Oh and thank you also for just hanging up on me right after I said no to the reschedule. Great customer service.

I had the best massage ever here. There was a long wait for an appointment, but it was worth it.

Based solely on trying to schedule a massage (with Livingsocial coupon) I would give them a 1 star. I don’t even have the desire to go now. I have been trying to schedule a massage since November. It’s ridiculous they can’t handle the volume they sold. I had my massage scheduled weeks in advance which took a huge ordeal to coordinate. Then, their receptionist called me and said she had a found an option to better fit my needs. Ok great, I agreed to change the time.
A day before the actual massage, they said they had no record of someone calling me or changing my apt. Then she said, sorry… there is no record of someone calling you. So, after I explain my whole ordeal no manager got on the phone to help me and nobody called me back. Strike 2, I called this week again to try to figure out another time they tell me they are booked till April on all the times I requested. I said that was ridiculous, and explained how frustrated I was with the service if someone could call me back. Nobody has called me back to try to help me. What’s the point of trying to help your business get the word out (through these deal sites) if you’re going to not be able to render the services? I am going to call to get my money back at this point. Not worth my time anymore.

I have been going to Reflections on Health since the spring for massage, and I have nothing but good things to say. As others have noted, the downtown location on 55 Wacker has the feeling of a chiropractor’s office rather than a spa, but if you can put that aside you are in for a treat. Every massage I have gotten there has been excellent. I am an avid biker and the massage therapist worked magic on my sore lower back and tight I.T. bands and hamstrings. He also did really great stretching and was really responsive to my feedback. I walk out of there every time feeling like I am floating — I am so limber and relaxed. Sure the rooms are a little sparse, but when I go for a massage, my eyes are closed anyway, so it isn’t an issue for me. And the amazing massages are well worth it.
Finally, I wanted to note that when I recently had a billing issue, Reflections on Health responded quickly and with courteous and respectful service. They addressed my issue in a timely and prompt manner and made me feel like a valued customer. I know I will be coming back again and again and again.

I’ve used Living Social coupons here and I’ve had good experiences. My first massage was last fall and that guy was only so-​so and then they gave me the hard sell about setting up a furture appointment. No thank you. That was at their old Goodman building location.
Now they are on Wacker. The 2 massages I’ve had there have been great, both with Preston and Curtis, my first choice would be Preston.
The cons are the scheduling. I once called for an appointment (most likely you will get an answering machine) and never got a call back. I called again and left a message, no call. I gave up on them and went to Bob Barrett (see my review) instead which was totally worth it.
I would go back, but be prepared to not get your first choice of availability and times. Rooms are pretty lackluster too. Also, they have done a lot of promotional stuff… are they really hurting for business?

Used the LivingSocial for a deep tissue massage with Mary Kay and it was heavenly. She worked the deep tissues intensely without giving me pain during the massage – was sore the next day as expected and feel much better now.
This place is nice, quiet, and relaxing. As others have mentioned, it is more of a clinical/dr’s office feel, but relaxing nonetheless. Though it was tough to find a time to book the massage due to the influx of LivingSocial clients, I did not have any problems with the receptionists – the two I have worked with were very kind and friendly.
I would not recommend driving/​parking, but the Clark & Lake stop is a block away. Great location for those who work or live in the loop/​streeterville area.
They’ve got some good specials going on right now too – I purchased on their website.

Hopefully after I finally get a massage I can increase the rating. Until then I have to rate based on the service I’ve had (or not had) thus far. Bottom line: If their massage is anything like their phone and customer service, count me out.
Here’s my story of trying to schedule an appointment:
I called last week and left a voicemail the first time since there was no answer. No call back the entire day nor the next day. Called back and got a human who took my info and said she would call me back. No call back in the next 24 hours. I called again and got voicemail. Called again and got a human. Was on hold for about 10 minutes while she was «searching availabilities» then disconnected. Called back and got human. She said she would search for available times and call me back. No call back for the next 48 hours. I called back and got voicemail.
Overall I have been trying to schedule an appointment for 6 business days now to no avail.

I understand some of the very polarizing reviews of this place. I dealt with 3 different receptionists. One of them (Mary Kay) was exceptional, very helpful and even called me back to make sure I knew how to get there. Amanda (?) was a 4 star, good at her job and friendly. The other one who didn’t even give me her name was a 1 star. Very rude on the phone, but me on hold and disconnected me after a long wait only to find out from one of the others after I called back that she left to go on break with me still on hold. If the owner or manager is reading these, you need to figure out which of your receptionist is causing all these 1 star reviews and FIRE HER. If you only have three, then I have done the work for you.
Onto the massage. The lobby reminded me more of a Dr’s office, (which it is) and the rooms were clean, spacious, but very sterile (again more of a med place than a spa). The massage itself was good. It was more therapeutic than normal spa massages which felt better, but was less relaxing. She really focused on my problem areas than doing a typical all over approach.
I deducted a point for 1 Horrible receptionist and the rooms are too bare, there should at least be hooks or a little closet to put your stuff in during the massage.

I have nothing but great things to say about Dr. Jackson, Theresa and the team at The Reflections of Health Integrative Care Center. Dr. Jackson is not just a chiropractor but more like a full service holistic care provider. Upon first meeting him, he recognized that my hips needed to be realigned and has worked for the past year to minimize and eliminate my MS flare-​ups. He has also provided actual potent vitamins; not the synthetic drug store stuff. The massages Dr. Jackson recommends are an added bonus for sure. I have never had a bad experience and always leave extremely relaxed. I highly recommend The Reflections of Health and advise that you have patience. It is a young business that is still working out the kinks. Count me as a lifelong client!

I’ve gotten quite a few massages here because of stocking up on groupons/​livingsocial deals. For $ 39 a pop (plus tip) this place isn’t bad, but its not great. I’ve never had an earth-​shattering massage and generally just feel kinda ‘meh’ about it.
The new location is much easier to get into and the rooms are huge but lacking in some décor (or even practical things like a chair or coat hook to put your clothes and bag on) and a mirror would be nice to fix mascara smudges without having to go ask for the key to get to the bathroom.
I’ve been here over a dozen times and haven’t thought maybe I’d find a massage therapist that I’d really like to stick with, but no such luck. They seem to still be treading water a bit trying to schedule everyone they have calling to use their vouchers, and when they changed locations they called me to cancel my appointment, but couldn’t reschedule at the time, and didn’t call me back when they were more settled like the receptionist said she would. I’m not sure if that is because of the ditzy receptionist (she’s really nice, but just kinda spacey) or what.
The last time I was there the massage therapist was 15 minutes late (she literally ran in the door 10 minutes after my appointment was supposed to start) which just adds to the ‘meh’ness of the place. I didn’t buy more massages from the latest livingsocial deal simply because I think there are better placed to spend my $ and time.
In response to some of the other reviewers, you’re going to have to book well in advanced with a living social/​groupon kinda deal. In unsolicited advice, backed by an assumption from observation that they keep running these groupon/​living social deals, to Reflections of Health: step it up if you want repeat customers who don’t just come to use their vouchers.

I do not understand why this facility has recently had another deal on Living Social when they cannot handle their current volume. A phone call to make a reservation goes directly to voice mail and you have to leave a message. There is no option to talk to someone live. The message states that due to call volume, the facility may have to call you back the next day if your call is recieved after 4:30pm. Well, regardless of what time my call was recieved, I have been waiting for a return call from the facility for over one week.
This my second time using a living social certificate. The first time was not a much different experience. The volume was so high that the appointment had to be a month out. Trying to even talk to someone to make an appointment was difficult. The massage was just ok. Not bad, not great. The price was great for an hour massage, but the hassel of trying to make an appointment and the actual experience outweighs the benefit of the cost.

After my last review, the owner contacted me about the issues I had with my prior visit, which I appreciated. She also invited me to come back and visit them again in their new space, and this was a much better experience. No waiting outside for someone to let you in — instead, a helpful security guard in the building lobby. I thought the new space seemed a little more private than the last space, although it still isn’t «spa-​like», if that is what you are looking for (and it isn’t billed as a spa either, so I didn’t have a problem with this).
Had another really good massage, and they have great monthly (or at least periodic) specials. If I worked downtown, this would probably be a more regular option for me, but I’ll definitely be back.

Just went there for a massage with a Groupon, and OMG, amazing. I had Cordelia for a Swedish massage and she was right on. Like, really.
The décor is awful, the music not really appropriate for a massage place, but the work they do is AMAZING.

Came here with a living social deal and ended up buying an extra 4 at their special holiday rate of $ 40 each. My massage was wonderful and felt like a true medically inspired massage… the therapist was able to give me some tips on how to avoid getting really tight muscles from siting at a computer all day and really worked out a lot of the tension in my arms. I’d definitely come back here. My fiancé also had a massage here and said the therapist told him that he had slight scoliosis and get rid of a backache that he’d been having for a while now. The only thing I was turned off to was the space… I don’t like being buzzed in and it seemed like an office suite with a reception desk on the other side of the closed off corridor with a door. No warmth whatsoever. Overall, a nice experience and I look forward to going again.

I purchased two massages recently through Groupon. At $ 40 each I thought this was a really great deal. I will never find out since I had to contact Groupon today and ask for a refund. I have made two attempts to make an appointment (I work down the street) with no success. I left two very detailed messages on two different occasions. I never received a call back.

That said I had an appointment today, and it was my first time there yes D. H is right the name is not on the outside, but it is very simple to find its in the Goodman Theater Bldg 60 W Randolph .
Chirsty B it is not a Spa or Salon, and nor do they claim to be, It is a Integrative Care Center. the atmosphere was warm and welcoming
and the lobby is most comfortable ‚
the receptionist did what she is supposed to do, she greets you, and announce you have arrived, at which time someone comes out and welcomes you, you are then given the standard getting to know you form to fill out .
Now I also had the Living Social voucher .
I was greeted by Preston The massage therapist, He had a very warm personalty, I was very comfortable with him and He gave me the Best Massage !!! I have ever had, I wanted a «deep tissue massage «his hands are strong and his technique was great ‚
everyone was very professional
I look forward to returning.

Had my first-​ever reflexology treatment here and it was great. The tech explained what she was doing so I’d be comfortable with the procedure, but wasn’t too blabby, so I could relax. I even dozed off. She used corn starch instead of lotion. At first I wasn’t crazy about the idea, but now I get it: the smell is fresh and when we were done, my feet wouldn’t slip and slide in my sandals. In all, I felt like I got way *more* than my money’s worth with my Living Social coupon.
Yes, the entrance is hard to find. And no, the atmosphere is not like that of a luxury spa. But D.H. (previous reviewer) is right, the staff is friendly and they work hard to make sure you’re happy with their service.

I came in with a Living Social deal, which is also their normal deal for all of August (40 $ for an hour massage).
Lets start with the cons: Location– not even a sign outside. The vibe is a little weird inside if you are strictly looking for the massage atmosphere.
Pros: Pretty Cheap. Friendly staff! Came in 20 minutes early and they greeted us right away. They make sure you are happy with the service the entire time through. I think the massage almost put me to sleep, so relaxing!
Undecided part: They offer a lot of services so their atmosphere won’t be that trendy.
Would I come back? Probably.
