I’m a cheap dude on a cheap budget, and I’ve been looking for a cheap place to get a simple haircut. Fortunately for me, my haircut is pretty simple, and in the end, it’s just hair to me. This place is located half a block away from the giant Jefferson Park Blue Line CTA depot. The setup is somewhat small, seats less than 10-people. No-frills place for your fades and simple hair cutting needs. The people here are friendly, although quite honestly, not sure if they are super fluent in English. Pro tip: You may already have been advised of this, but bring a picture of the ‘do you are aiming for. Pictures speak a thousand words, even especially if you think there may be a language barrier.

Honestly, I used to go here all the time and be content with my haircut. The guy and two women who’ve been there for years all do a pretty good job considering I’m a guy who just wants short enough hair to style. But the last two times I’ve gone, a new lady has cut my hair, and managed to scalp me in some spots and then leave mountain tufts of hair in other places. I don’t mean to be rude, but come on. No matter how I style it, I can only put it to one side, no joke, same exact haircut Hitler got on his 39th birthday. I have extreme anxiety and the fact I have no control over my hair drives me insane. I told her what I wanted but she gave me something completely the opposite. I walked out with a mowhawk and gel. I’m an 18 year old Caucasian(I’m half Mexican but have white skin) male. Don’t give me the haircut of a 7 year old Mexican boy. I don’t know who she is, but I probably shouldn’t have sat down in that chair when the person she had just finished cutting had a shaved head, and quite frankly, his bald head with all those scars looks better than my hair as of now. So I’m shaving my head because I fear if I let it grow out, some spots are so bald, and some are so long, growing it out will lead to two ponytails on the sides of my head. Lady, if you are reading this, take it as good criticism. Go to Germany, and cut their hair because you are only good at shaving heads and Hitler haircuts.

Terrible The Hispanic man that cuts hair there has messed up my hair a total of three times Today was the worst of it he completely messed up my hair and when I told him it was wrong he refused to fix it and said that he’s going to charge me for 2 haircuts if he fixes it Management still made me pay for my haircut The girls are great he needs to be fired

Nothing wrong with this place at all. For a $ 5 haircut, I’m not expecting miracles or salon quality. I’ve got a pretty straight forward haircut, so I can’t speak to more complicated styles like a mohawk. They have competent staff and usually a short wait. Great alternative to Betty and Nick’s.

Dashmire is the best. I have problem hair and she cuts it so nice and I have a nice color too. Thank you.

I have a mohawk. Not a difficult hairstyle to cut! All the woman had to do was follow the outline I already had and she couldn’t even do that. The only reason I stopped in was because I recently broke my wrist and it’s difficult for me to hold a razor that long to shave my own head. That’s all this woman had to do was shave my freakin’ head. However, she managed to f*** it all up. There’s about an 1⁄8 of an in around my mohawk that she missed even after I asked her to fix it. To top it off… it’s crooked as holy hell! I went back for my money because now I have to spend the day fixing something I should have done myself. A monkey could have done a better job. Do not go here if you don’t want to look like you just gave a scissor to a 3 year old to cut your hair!!!

Love this place. Wafa is my very own hairstylist, and she takes very very good care of me. So affordable, and the more you go and build up that customer loyalty to her, the better. So affordable compared to these other salons that cost an arm an a leg for a haircut, and heaven forbid I want to be on time for rent money should I need new highlights. Ambiance is zero, it’s just a little hair shop. $ 5 threading /waxing /haircut. Tell Wafa I sent you! :)

Five dollars for a ten minute hair cut. The staff is very friendly and thoughtful, and they will actually listen to specific instructions. Not only do they speak fluent English(a rarity in a cheap haircut place) but I have also heard conversations in Polish and Spanish. I’m not saying this is the kind of place where you would go for a haircut before that big wedding or court date, but for a guy that wants a quick and neatly done clipper job, this is the best place. It is conveniently located near the Jefferson Park train and bus monstrosity
