The short ribs, calamari, lamb chops and authentic pizza brings me back to Italy. I highly recommend this gem of a cuisine. Come and and enjoy a carousel feast.

I’m so happy I found this place! It’s kind of hidden in a connecting street between Halstead and Broadway, but the pizza is absolutely out of this world. I’ve eaten a lot of pizza in my life time. In fact, I love pizza so much that my cell phone case is pizza and this place has some of the best pizza I’ve ever had. Probably one of the best places in the city. They have amazing appetizers, too like caprese salad and grilled calamari and their pasta and deserts are bomb. In a perfect world, I would probably eat here every day. SOGOOD and there’s never a wait.
What a hidden gem! I went here last night for the first time after walking by over and over. Delicious food, great atmosphere, and friendly staff. We had the Burrata Boat and it was fabulous. We both got pasta entrees but the pizza also looked so yummy! We finished it off with their cookie dessert. They even brought us some limoncello at the end of the meal. I have no complaints. I absolutely loved it! I will definitely be going again.

This is a great neighborhood place. It’s more than pizza too. The burrata boat is great. The grilled calamari is as good as anywhere in the city. The service is always good. You should definitely be eating here.

Insanely good traditional Italian style pizza I had a capricciosa and it was the best I have had in Chicago. Generous toppings of Parma ham and perfect crust with a little woodfired char.

Good authentic Italian pizza. Friendly service, small but clean outdoor seating. Pizzas are overpriced, but the quality and flavor was there. I would dine there again.

A hole in the wall gem. Loved the pizza. The outside seating was great. We went on a Saturday night and it was not at all crowded, which was a little surprising with how delicious it was. The pizzas are plenty big enough for 2 – 3 people and are made with fresh wholesome ingredients. Their drink menu only listed their wine selection wich would be my only complaint.

I cannot believe this place doesn’t have more reviews. Maybe because it’s tucked away on a side street, away from the view of passers-by on Broadway, or maybe it’s that the non-Neapolitan pizza of the other side of the restaurant(Panino’s) that gets more of the attention. But in any case, they deserve way more attention. We ordered the Parma(a white pizza with prosciutto and arugula) and were pretty impressed — the dough was actually flavorful, which never really seems to happen at other pizza places, and the complimentary bread and foccacia were really great with olive oil! The wine list was also quite nice — some of the bottles are not terribly expensive, and there are a lot of options. Only wish the location were a little better — perhaps then they’d get some of the recognition they deserve!

Absolutely love this place! We go here all the time and I have never been disappointed. The pasta is incredible and the pizza is amazing. I love that they have the wood oven. The owners are warm and inviting and the food can’t be beat!

I consider myself a crust connoisseur. I only like true Neapolitan pizza. That means a light, slightly chewy crust that can stand up to any toppings. Lightly charred but not burnt. Über fresh ingredients like arugula and prosciutto. . After 8 years religiously using Unilocal for recos, this is my first review because this place is that good. Get there.

If you want authentic, delicious Italian food, this is the place to dine! We have been to Italy three times and I am telling you this place is comparable to the best Italian food served in Italy. A group of ten dined here for my sister’s birthday and everyone was very happy with their entrees. We started with appetizers, had pizzas and then went on to main entrees. Did I mention the grilled calamari, a MUSTHAVE when you go. I’m still craving the salumi pizza! Entrees ranged from chicken Marsala(my order) to a New York steak. As mentioned everything was top notch. Do yourself a favor when you are craving Italian and go to Pizzaiolo!!!

We were introduced to Pizzaiolo(Paninos) many years ago and frequent this amazing Italian restaurant multiple times a month… all the way from the western suburbs, it is definitely worth the drive! As soon as you walk in the door you are welcomed with open arms and your true Italian experience begins! From the wine selections to the most incredible homemade bread and focaccia(that is brought fresh and warm to your table) to the main dishes and desserts, you will feel like you just stepped into a café in the heart of Italy! The servers are very knowledgable so if you can’t decide what to order let them help you! Time and time again we let them decide for us what our entrees will be for that evening !! The owner will come to your table to ensure your drinks, food and dining experience were to your expectations! Where else can you get that level of service and quality of food? We have only found it at Pizziolo and the reason we continue to come back! I can’t say enough about the traditional Artisan pizza dough used to make one of our favorite appetizers, the Burrata Boat… topped with Burrata cheese, arugula, cherry tomatoes and drizzled with a balsamic fig syrup! Then we have Grigliata Mista made with grilled octopus, shrimp and calamari! Then if we have room(by this time we are quite pleased and satisfied but can’t say no to one of their entrees) my fiancé enjoys the lamb chops while I have a grilled fish of the day. Yes, there are plenty of pasta dishes to choose from… our favorites are the pesto gnocchi or rigatoni with chicken and gorgonzola! You have to try it for yourself and you will understand why we never go to any other Italian restaurant than Pizzaiolo! Whether it’s just me and my fiancée or a group of our family and friends we are treated as part of the Pizzaiolo Family!

I was introduced to this quaint restaurant by my friend Jennifer, who frequents this place weekly, because she discovered the wonderful wood burning oven pizzas that they serve. She told me that these pizzas remind her of her time she had spent in Italy. We started with the antipasto misto, WOW ! It had imported artichokes, buffalo mozzarella, sopressata, and tasty green olives. Then we shared a pasta called trofie crudaiola, another awesome dish finished with imported burrata cheese and fresh arugula. We of course had to try the wood oven pizza. It was truly exceptional, best i have had! Service was also friendly and professional, and they had a great wine and dessert selection. Try the pizzokie, yum!
