My fiancé and I recently had our engagement photos taken by Peter in the city and he did a fantastic job! Not only is he easy to get a hold of and talk to, but his work is outstanding and creative! Everything about Peter is true and when I say you won’t be disappointed, but more so blown away by his professionalism and creative genius — the buck doesn’t stop here– he’s the best photographer in so many ways!
By the hand of God and a little help from the Internet, I came across Peter Gubernet photography and was blown away by what I found. Storytelling through photography and moments captured that I hadn’t seen anyone else do … And trust me I searched and searched and did some more searching.
Peter was extremely responsive, forthcoming, and open to what me and my now wife were hoping to have captured. We started off doing an engagement session and really enjoyed Peter’s personality and style of photography.
Before our wedding we talked numerous times whether it was text, email, phone or Skype. It really made us feel comfortable and excited that he too was generally excited to photograph our wedding! He was punctual, ready, prepared, and a nice photographer who all our guests loved! And boy did his pictures represent! Not to mention his other photographers, Vin and Michael were down right amazing. Each of them were with me and the guys beforehand were immediately ready to take on the day and got down to capturing everything that was happening. They all photograph with such finesse it’s incredible.
Look– I could go on, but what’s the point? Honestly, call and see why they are awesome. I believe I’ve referred them to anyone I know getting ready to tie the knot because I know deep down how great it felt to have chosen an awesome photographer and I want everyone else to feel the same.

Peter did us solid. He was super collaborative and helpful in capturing the moment for me as I proposed to my girlfriend, followed by a couple of hours of photography in the city. He’s very friendly and knows how to keep the mood light and jovial, getting people comfortable in having their photos taken. The photos came out fantastic and my fiancé and I both love them. If you’re looking to lock in a photographer, you can’t go wrong with Peter!

We are so happy we found Peter to do our engagement photos. We were pretty nervous since neither of us had ever done a photo session but he made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera and the end product was beyond perfect!

We hired Peter Gubernat to take our wedding photos and engagement photos. I have nothing but positive things to say about Peter and his team. Peter’s brother-​in-​law, Michael, was our main photographer. Peter did all of the editing himself. This past summer, we scheduled our engagement shots. Of course, it was pouring rain and cold when we first scheduled. Michael was flexible in moving our date. On our rescheduled rain date, it was also pouring and cold. We, along with Michael, decided to give it a whirl anyways. Michael was amazing. We were miserably cold and uncomfortable, but Michael was smiling, happy, and enthusiastic the ENTIRE time. He made it as pleasant as it could be. A week went by and we were contacted by both Peter and Michael. They said that the pictures turned out well, but definitely could be better thanks to the weather. They offered to do a second shot with us in a few weeks, for free.
During the second set of engagement shots, not only was the weather 100x better, but both Michael and Peter came out for our sunrise session. The four of us had an absolute blast and we had much better pictures than the first time. This was when we knew we picked the right company, and we haven’t even gotten to the wedding yet!
This past Labor Day weekend was our wedding day. Michael and Vic got to the hotel and immediately started working. They were punctual, kept to a timeline, and were extremely professional. They kept everyone in a great mood and really captured the feel of the day. I don’t know how they did it, but they did. The shots of the bridal parties getting ready, the first look, out around Chicago before the ceremony, formal portraits, to the reception, was everything we wanted. They even made sure to get shots of the majority of our guests. Since we’ve gotten the wedding photos, we’ve looked at them so many times and often take 2 hours to sit and just relive our perfect day.

We first booked Peter for our engagement photo’s in Chicago last summer and then for our wedding this past July in Cleveland, Ohio. My husband and I live in Chicago but got married in Cleveland where we are both from and Peter jumped at the opportunity to photograph our wedding in another city. He approached Cleveland with a fresh perspective and produced some of the best and most breathtaking pictures, which turned out better than we could have ever imagined!
Peter and his assistant, Michael, made our wedding day so enjoyable and fun! The biggest piece of advice I can offer another bride is to pick vendors that are not only talented, but that you like (especially photographer/​videographers) because they are with you all day! Everyone in our family and bridal party commented on how professional, yet fun these two were to work with — they were able to put everyone at ease and capture moments throughout the day without having to force awkward poses. There are pictures my husband and I look at now saying «I had no idea that they were able to capture that moment?!» — which is amazing! Even our day-​of-​coordinator commented on wonderful Peter and Michael were to work with and how they made her job that much easier.
Communication was excellent and the turn around was incredible — we received our photo’s back 4 weeks after our wedding date as promised, with a sneak peak of a few photo’s on his blog in between — which was such a nice surprise on our honeymoon!
Overall, amazing photo’s, super talented, professional, and wonderful people! Highly recommended!

Out of this world! Peter just did our engagement photos, and we could not be happier! Not only were the actual photos absolutely amazing, but the entire photo shoot was so much fun as well. We’d never taken any sort of professional photos before, but he put us at ease and made us look and feel like pros. We were completely comfortable; never once did we feel posed. Everything was very natural, which translated into our photos. We look like ourselves (better, more magic-​worked versions of ourselves), not mannequins. Peter is very professional– he was on time, accommodating to our schedules, and even rescheduled our shoot with a week’s notice. Honestly the best of the best! Couldn’t have asked for a better experience nor finished product!

Peter is just awesome :) He took engagement photos for us on early Sunday morning. Capturing the moments during sunrise was gorgeous and unbelievably great. Before the session, Peter kindly sent us some tips for better photograph and he tried to put our insights to his creative works. The results were beautiful. I enjoyed having this time with Peter and appreciate this memorable experience.

I can’t say enough what an amazing job Peter did with my engagement photos!
My fiancé and I had been putting off engagement photos for almost a full year when I came across Peter’s blog online. I was immediately impressed by the way he seemed to capture unique aspects of each couple he photographed! After contacting him, he continued to impress me with his prompt responses and positivity. The day of the photos he did not disappoint– I would have never imagined that a sunrise photo session would be so fun! Peter and Michael made my fiancé, Andy, and I feel so comfortable, we could tell we were in good hands. They also took time to get a feel for us as a couple and as a result, they put a level of care into the photographs themselves that I really appreciated– I have been photographed before where it seemed like there was a minimum number of shots the photographer felt required to take. This was not the case at all! Peter and Michael clearly take pride in their pictures and were not finished until they had a set of pictures that they liked– which was huge, because when you get a picture you LOVE because your photographer didn’t mind changing surroundings one more time it makes you appreciate it even more! The photos themselves were ready within a week and I could not be happier with them! They capture the fun we had that morning, along with the love between us that seems to get stronger every day.

We hired Peter for our engagement photos at Lincoln Park. Short answer — he was great! He was very professional and friendly. This was our first professional photo and he helped us with outfit suggestions, as well as making the experience memorable. We did our photo shoot at sunrise and the pictures turned out beautiful. Peter did both our engagement and wedding photographs and I wouldn’t be able to tell you which I love more. I wanted pictures that told a story and had a natural, classic, and artistic feel to them– not an easy page to fill! Peter was my photographer for my engagement photos! We had an amazing experience with him. We woke up bright and early for a sunrise shooting at North Avenue beach and it turned out to be more than we could ever imagine. In just two hours we laughed uncontrollably and had a blast, it was effortless to take these photos. Peter took us downtown as well to capture the essence of city life, but we had the option to shoot anywhere we felt like going. We got all of our proofs and can use them however we want. We absolutely loved it all! If you are looking for a fun experience with beautiful photos look no further than Peter Gubernat!

Peter did a FANTASTIC job on our engagement photos. We originally hired him through a referral which had the same stellar experience. The whole appointment was fun, professional and we could sense that we were getting real photos — as in, he was really telling a story with what he was capturing and that story was very very accurate!
On the day of the shoot, he was communicating with us clearly, showed up on time, and was very cheerful (mind you this was a SUNRISE shot). We’ve never taken any professional photos before but he made it simple and was very VERY creative in providing some unique shots and framing us in different angles. He let us choose where to go and had the ability to find the beauty in different areas. His creativity definitely shone through. We were very happy with the shoot!!!
The final product was promised in one week but he actually got it to us in 4 days! The photos look just great, and we’re even more excited for the wedding now. I hired Peter to shoot action photos of the baseball team I coach as they played in an important game and they turned out spectacular! Peter was on time, affordable, and the pictures are now treasures for many of the families.

We hired Peter for an engagement session.
Being a recent transfer to the city, I didn’t have a photographer in mind for our pictures. I scoured the internet looking at different phographers’ work and obtaining quotes. Peter was not the cheapest, nor the most expensive, but I felt his work was comparable if not better than photographers charging much more.
We aren’t the most natural in front of the camera type people but Peter and his assistant were incredible at making us feel comfortable. We have received SOO many compliments on our pictures from friends and family. Peter is very artistic and comes up with some innovative ideas as well as classic poses. He has just the right mix of trendy chicago flare without the pretentious hipster vibe that I also saw while shopping around. I highly recommend!
