Pest Tech Exterminating Services

If I’d written a review for them maybe eight or ten years ago, I would have said they were doing a pretty good job and for their affordable pricing they were a company you could count on for pest exterminating service. I may had even given them a four star rating.
But often times, they repeatedly asked to sign into a service contract. That detail would speak volumes into the future relationship with their company as I never felt the service was eliminating future bugs, just acting as a band aid for the current situation.
In the business of pest eliminating services, this is the most inexpensive option out there and they still are.
But as a property manager whose association has had a long standing agreement with this company, I am grossly unsatisfied with their services. My tenants often complain at their poor abilities and I’ve had to hire outside contractors to spray because of the service ineffectiveness of Pest Tech. Even when speaking with them directly, I don’t feel like (me a decision maker) my comments or requests are «heard».
When you have a service contract this means the company comes out month after month visiting a building and conducting services based on need. Sometimes they spray and other times they use a gel stick. (In regards to Pest Tech, it depends on who is working that day, because some guys are lazy and do rounds on a motorcycle thinking just the gel stick is best. A motorcycle has a very small compartment for holding tools; depending). Survey most tenants and they think usage of the gel stick is lazy on the part of the exterminator. The gel is alike any pest products sold at any hardware store. It attracts and can kill some bugs. But it isn’t the cure all product. Spray covers a wider area and after drying can act as a barrier for longer periods to ensure a bug free environment.
As I have understood from their past employees, this is a family owned and run company. There are few other non family member employees. Because there is a difference in ownership and management between Walter and other family members their abilities in communication is lacking. Even when I’ve placed orders and established service dates directly with Walter I’ve been stood up on many occasions or rescheduled after the service time because they «forgot» about the appointment.
Companies that offer pest elimination are expensive but don’t go with just one company. Due diligence is deserved. Call around and get many estimates.
If you can afford a service contract, this is the most convenient and smart choice. The cost is offset by many variables which most companies will work with you on, since most contracts might last for twelve months or longer.

Is Walter MIA or on vacation? I realize it is a Holiday week, but I left a voice mail message earlier in the week, and never received a return phone call from this Company. I called two other companies who responded quickly and took care of the ‘bed bug’ critters immediately. I am glad I read the reviews here as it sounds like professionalism and responding to a potential new customer is not in their job description. If I could give them zero stars, I would. We ended up hiring another company. We never, ever heard back from this Company. Terrible business practice.

I had Walter come out to my condo to get rid of bed bugs (which are a nightmare, and anyone who has had them will tell you so).
I have a lot of great things to say about Walter/​Pest Tech:
1) He made every one of our three appointments within the time he said he would be there. He came one time every week.
2) He was very honest and the prices are VERY fair. I found that, although bed bugs are very serious and we did not have the worst case of them, Walter was very calm about the situation. He was confident he could get rid of the bugs (he has been doing this for a long time), and he made sure that we were calm also. I noticed a lot of other exterminators charge a lot more, and to justify the cost, they use fear.
3) Walter is extremely knowledgeable!
4) Pest-​Tech has a service guarantee. Walter promised if the bed bugs were not gone, they would come back again– but he was so certain he would get rid of them that this would not be necessary. Well, I THOUGHT we had bed bugs again (it turns out it was something else, thank goodness), I called Walter. He was not only ready to jump into action-​but also genuinely concerned. Fortunately, as I said, it was NOT bed bugs. I just provide this anecdote to support that he is true to his word/​guarantee.

Pretty simple. My girlfriend freaks at the sight of roaches. I saw one in my kitchen one day, and knew that if she saw it or knew about it… she’d NEVER spend the night over here again.
Well, know you know Jellybean, but that was like back in October. Pest Tech came through and did the magic sweep. He left traps and sprayed in all areas. Then he came back 2 weeks later to do a follow through. He was real knowledgeable, friendly and professional.
Since then, I haven’t seen another roach.
Until I have another gross encounter with some gnarly insectopod, I won’t be seeing Mr. Walter from Pest Tech, but now I know who to call when I do.

Ok, I have to say, once Walter shows up, he does his job. The question would be «when» he’d show up. Our first appointment went smoothly, with the ants quickly eliminated. I was quite happy, and scheduled my second appointment, «to follow up», according to Walter. He called at 10 am and said that he will be running late. We waited until 3 pm, and he failed to call or show up.

My sister’s place was infested with bedbugs, and her landlord didn’t cooperate with complying with getting an exterminator. The nice man on the phone helped us figure out if we needed to purchase new furniture or toss it.
Luckily, we didn’t have to toss the furniture. He gave us great suggestions as to what to do in our situation! :-) SOOO much happier with his solution, saving her hundreds of dollars!

Walter was polite, on time, knowledgeable and communicative throughout the small job I gave him to deal with a new mouse problem. His price was fair and I would use him again. Like with all exterminating, if you have pets or children, be EXPLICIT about any concerns you may have about keeping them safe. The materials used in some processes are lethal.
