What a cute little speakeasy. Came here last night after a Unilocal event, thanks to my Unilocal buddy above Sarah writing a review. I’m happy that I did! The atmosphere and décor is inviting and a little on the romantic side. It is def a good place to end your night, either with your significant other or close friends. I’m not sure it would be good for big groups, but a small intimate group would be fine. You can order food from the Italian place up stairs and they bring it down to you. We ordered an appetizer and it came extremely quick. It was good. I wish I could remember the name. We were a little tipsy when we came in, so I forgot to make note of it. But I do remember it being extremely good. We barely got it because they were about to close the kitchen, but being awesome, they still let us put our order in. Our bartender was friendly and not too pushy. Gave us a nice little run down and back history of the place. Our drinks were strong and we had a really good time. Prices are right on point with all the other places in the area. I like the intimacy of the space. I will be back. What a gem. Thanks Sarah for my new little sneak away spot. ;)

This underground bar slash speakeasy is located under Letizia’s Fiore. Walk down Altgeld Street and enter on the side of the building. Follow the signs downstairs to the speakeasy! They have a TV downstairs on which during Blackhawks finals, they had the games going on down there which isn’t really in with the whole speakeasy vibe. Aside from that, it’s very dimly lit, has light music going on, isn’t crowded at all and really does give off the feeling of a hidden underground cocktail bar. Being a cocktail bar, the beer options are quite limited. I ventured away from my usual suds to get on board with the cocktailing theme and had a tasty drink with malort in it. I love malort no matter what everyone else says! Hmph! Cocktail prices ranged from $ 9 – 11. The bartenders work both the bar downstairs and the restaurant upstairs so there were extended periods of time the bar would be absent of any workers. We thought that was awfully trustworthy of them. They had some food options, my guess is similar or the exact same as what you could get upstairs. I don’t normally like non chocolate dessert items but my friends and I ordered their cheesecake. It was insanely rich and delicious with one of the most perfect crusts I’ve ever had! Truly enjoyed it! The Chicago food scene is all about exclusivity and I think with proper marketing and a bit of fixing up, they could really blow up. I enjoyed my time here and will keep them in mind if I want a chill night of cocktails.
