History

Established in 1994.

Jeff Armstrong Co-​founded OutSource Technologies (OT) with his best friend from kindergarten in 1994.

From an idea drawn up on a napkin in a San Francisco coffee house, it was decided that Chicago was the market to be. So they drove cross county with a U-​haul trailer to a three flat in Wrigleyville to settle and start up.

Jeff now owns OT — a company continually striving to be Chicago’s preeminent printer service provider — working with organizations to reduce their print related costs and providing peace of mind. OT focuses on efficient toner cartridge fulfillment and responsive on-​site service and support. OT’s flagship program: DocuWorks Toner combines the two in a way that decreases costs and streamline processes

Called them to come by and help with our Xerox printer which is consistently getting jammed. Showed up quickly and told me I needed to replace a part which we had already replaced. Told me I must have gotten a bad part. Once that was fully replaced (and paid for labor and part) the unit was still not working and they told me they’ll have to make another site visit to reassess (and charge us for it). Once we finally agreed to move forward they did not respond to multiple emails. Spoke to them on the phone and they said they’d order the part and it would arrive in 3 – 5 days. One week later I received an email saying they would not be moving forward with it and referred me to someone else. Very poor experience, and now a lot of lost productivity for my office.

I recently hired Outsource Technologies to troubleshoot a funny noise my PC was making. Paul responded via email within 30 minutes and was able to come out the same day to diagnose the problem. One of my fans had died. They ordered the part and came out a couple days later to replace the unit. Very courteous and professional, and I appreciated the very quick turnaround. I also signed up for their managed services as well. Highly recommend!

Outsource Technologies took care of my office’s Brother MFC printer and HP LaserJet printer that was making horrible prints. I am in San Diego and after searching for a company to take care of this work, I found them and picked up the phone. They called me when onsite and informed me on what would need to be done and I was able to pay over the phone via credit card and everything worked like a champ after they worked their magic!

I hired OutSource Technologies to repair my office HP 5000N series printer. It’s an old workhorse that I’ve had for 8 years at least. Some folks were telling me to throw it away, get a new printer, but I really like it. Reliable, at least until the paper trays started jamming.
I did a search both here on Unilocal and on Google to find Chicago Printer Repairs. Many of the websites I came across were, at best, sketchy. I left several voicemails but my call was never returned.
OutSource Technologies picked up the phone, quickly diagnosed the issue, and had a tech at my office that afternoon. In about a half hour, he had the printer cleaned, pick-​up drums replaced, and was on his way. Extremely professional, timely, and effective. I’m very happy to have found them and hope others do as well.
