History

Established in 2007.

Ork Posters was born when I embarked on a search for a neighborhood poster that fit my taste for good design and typography, simplicity, and originality. My hunt came up empty. As a result, I designed the original Chicago poster in the summer of 2007 for myself. Since then, Ork has added more neighborhood maps for cities across the USA and went international in 2010 with the addition of Toronto and Vancouver.

Business Owner

Jenny is a Chicago-​based graphic designer and creator of the city neighborhood poster series released for retail under the moniker Ork Posters.

A native of Iowa, she received a BBA and an unofficial BS in Art from the University of Wisconsin — Madison. Before devoting her energies full-​time to Ork, she worked as the lone designer at a small, mom-​and-​pop marketing and design firm in Chicago.

Beorkrem is currently working to expand the line of neighborhood posters, while managing the day-​to-​day operations of her company.

I have a lot of artwork in my home. Recently, I had a dinner party and my Ork poster featuring the neighborhoods of Philadelphia somehow became the topic of conversation for the evening. Even though it’s kinda rustic, there is a certain cool creativity that it evokes.
I would suggest Ork Posters to anyone who is looking for interesting wall décor. They create conversation pieces that never go out of style.

I did it! I am among the few who has actually gotten in! Yes, I found a time when Ork is actually open and I finally got to enter!
Every neighborhood poster in the world you could want is here, in every size and color.
All the cool posters on
are here too — but cheaper. They make it so easy to support an independent, local store and local artists. Love that they repurpose messed up posters and make ‘em greeting cards — on the cheap!

One word? UNIQUE. It’s tough to find something really different that’s affordable. OrkPosters has done just that.
These are seriously some of the coolest things you can put on your walls. They work in homes, offices, apartments, barns, etc. etc.
It would be neat if they could continue to add many more cities to their arsenal of maps, and more color and size options for each one.
If you want a gift that will wow just about anyone, get an OrkPoster at the shop in Chicago, on their web site, or at a local shop that carries one in your area.

Unilocal Works.
Thanks to the review of Colleen C, I stumbled across this business one bored day at work. I ordered the «Great Lakes» poster in brown and gold and the Brooklyn poster in multi-​colored. Now, I’m kind of an idiot and ordered the wrong colored frame for each of my posters (from amazon), but the posters are OH-​MAY-​ZONG! Woot! The colors are great, the paper quality is very high and delivery is zippity-​quick.
I have 2 lovely framed posters that reflect where I’m from and where I live, in a unique style. Thanks Unilocal

Well, I did. Oops.
Popped over to Ork and purchased a Chicago map screen print (vermillion!) and «brain» screen print for one of my favorite Texas transplants. Beautiful. Both ordered and shipped for around $ 50 total.
You can buy them many places around town (galleries, etc), but if you go straight to the source you can see all of the availability, colors, etc. I typically browse online, but they also have a shop in Ravenswood with retail hours if you’d like to peruse the goods.

They obviously do not come framed, but I’ve found
to be really great for this type of thing, and with great selection (plus affordable).

Whether you are looking for a great gift or want to decorate your home, an Ork poster is a must. Check out their website for their excellent variety of neighborhood maps and unique creations. I have a Chicago and New Orleans hanging in my living room and I love them both. Now, I just have to wait my hometown… Detroit.

Looking for a place to shop local for the holidays? Add Ork Posters to your list. But do it now, while they still have their Holiday Pop Up Shop. Not only do they have their fab neghborhood posters, but the Holiday Shop has cards/​prints/​shirts/​gifts from lots o’ different artists (shout out to Ryan Kapp and his awesome Chicago Season prints).
Since I was there on opening night, I not only purchased some pretty adorable gifts for family and friends, but I did all my shopping while sipping a cold beer. You really can’t beat that. Jenny was super helpful in suggesting different ways to frame the posters, and I’m excited to try out something new for my latest Ork poster gift. I’m feeling good about the gift giving season already!

Jenny, the owner, went way above and beyond in helping me find a perfect gift for the Mrs. and she even helped out with selecting some very cool, salvage frames that help the posters (we got the heart & brain) stand out from the crowd. I haven’t been to the storefront yet but since it’s not far, will defiintely drop by.
I’m a big believer in helping small businesses and it’s great to hear that her little operation is swimming right along. We have now added the 5 Burroughs, the Great Lakes, Seattle, Chicago, and Manhattan to the mix. Love em.

I haven’t been to the storefront (although a work trip to Chicago may warrant a stop) but I have seen the posters/​art from Ork in boutique shops in SF. I had been eyeing them for months and months and finally searched to see who the artist was.
I LOVE the prints! A modern and graphic representation of some popular cities like SF, NOLA, LA, NYC etc they offer great art at reasonable prices.
One of my favorites though is the «Heart» print which I bought for my bf in light of the events that affected his life relating to his heart. Manly enough for the most masculine, yet whimsical and artsy enough to satisfy my eye.
Customer service was fast (I had inquired about when my poster would be shipped and got a reply in 10 minutes) and easy to order and pay via paypal.
I hope to buy a few more as gifts for friends from their represented cities as they make awesome gifts!

Well now Ork Posters — those morphed font Chicago neighborhood maps with or without grid marks – has a store front! They used to pop up for the Ravenswood Art Fait, but now you can get them all year long. You can purchase our beautiful city of Chicago, or your second favorite/​hometown city. Not only that but they sell other local artist’s work too. You can also purchase «dud» posters turned into postcards which is a neat idea.
Go get your poster to style up your space today!

Went to their pop-​up shop last year where they were selling neighborhood posters with small blemishes 5 for $ 20! They are not doing that this year. Instead they are turning the bad ones into note cards. A little disappointing but it wont ruin my life since a regular Chicago poster is around $ 25. That’s one of the reasons I like Ork. They sell a wonderful collection of neat posters and other fun things for very reasonable prices.

if not for the huge neon white sign in the window, i don’t know if i would have known ork posters was having a pop-​up shop this holiday season! the girl running the show the day i was in seemed a little sheepish when i mentioned that i loved the huge sign, but i really think without it you might not even notice it’s there!
they’ve got a good selection of the ork poster and screenprint staples, with an obvious emphasis on chicago, but with a good mix of other cities represented as well. some other artists’ work are included in the shop, too, artists you may have seen at the renegade craft fair.
overall a nice little pop up on the northside, i guess i just wish there was even more to sift through :)
hurry, they’re only there until xmas, then poof! (poof obviously means vanished, in case you didn’t get it!)

Cool! I really like this place. I’ve seen a lot of businesses come and go at this spot, but I really hope the best for Ork. The art is awesome and the space is inviting in a non-​pretentious, modest-​y kinda way.
The first moment of walking in, I knew I was leaving with at least two posters under arm. They have prints from artists all over but a major focus is on our very own Chi’s finest, which I definitely appreciate. Needless to say, I left with two and I’m still thoroughly impressed since i NEVER impulse buy.
I’ll definitely be going back for a few just-​in-​time christmas gifts too…

For a fun and inexpensive way to add some local flavor to your wall or décor try Ork Posters. They cleverly carve up maps of cityscapes by labeling the neighborhoods.
I have Manhattan and Brooklyn as these two represent the two parts of the city I have lived in during my residence in New York. I chose the black wording and white background for my Manhattan poster and the white lettering and black background for my Brooklyn print. They have more colorful versions and limited edition prints as well.
I have seen these posters in other apartments as well throughout the city.
Ork also has many other cities, such as Boston, Chicago, Portland, Los Angeles and even for you Canadians, they have Toronto.
Keep on rocking ORK! Thanks for adding to the eclectic nature of my tiny space here in NYC.

LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT!
Looking for a cool City of Chicago neighborhood poster? I was, and I wasn’t satisfied with any of the designs I was seeing out in the marketplace. That was until I stumbled across Ork posters. I was about to buy it myself when my best friend (who is either psychic or able to access my email) bought it for me for my birthday. Nice!
Ork’s posters are sleek, clean, modern, monochromatic and just plain cool. I opted for the Spicy Red Chicago poster and it has completely transformed my living room. To top it all off, it’s helped me to get to know the city better and identify neighborhoods I’ve yet to explore.
Caveat: The only thing I didn’t love about my Ork poster was that it was kind of a bitch to frame (mostly because I’m a cheap ass). The print is 24×34 while the closest standard frame size is 24×36. This 2 inch deficit meant I had to visit my local custom framing Nazi to get mat board ranging from $ 15 – 30. On the plus side, I emailed the owner and she seemed amenable to making the change.
