I came here Thursday @ 3:35 & there was a line w/​3 tellers, but it was break time so 1 teller closed up and left. Ahhhhhh yes Chicago City workers nothing like it. $ 171.94 for a Chicago City Sticker. That sucks, but Cie la vie

Came here to get my city sticker on a Monday at 3:00 and it was not busy. I waited in line for 5 minutes and got my sticker in 1 min. Had no problems, workers were polite. Glad I came here at the right time.

Came to this location cause I happened to be in the area and needed to add residential parking permit to my city sticker. Came here on a Thursday afternoon and there was a line out the door. Can’t imagine how that works when it’s –30 degrees out. Fortunately the line moved fairly quickly. And it only took about 2 minutes to get my updated sticker.

Went to transfer my vehicle sticker today, few minute wait, fast efficient service. No complaints

Today I go to the city clerk office at, gale street. Chicago … The 3 employees working there were so rude .
So lazy on their butts to lift a finger on the
Computers. God forbid you have ???‘s
Why are they working there if they don’t
Like their Jobs.
Even the supervisor had a pinch up here butt. These ladies looked like they just got
Out of bed. At least they should comb
The hair, dress neater, put on a smile, and have good personalities with the public ‚
Since they are getting paid.

well what can I say this place is always a zoo around the summer, and if you wait to the last minute to get city sticker it’s even worse!
The lines move rather slow but not not unbearable however the people who work behind those glasses are just miserable looking, they never smile they almost ALWAYS have some kind of attitude and they are pretty cold when speaking to them.
I’ll prolly pass next year and order my city sticker on line! thanks but not thanks

The gringas here are the epitome of underachieving, underworked but overpaid government employee. Loads of vanity with little public service.

Never a pleasant experience but not as bad as expected. Go on off peak days/​hours if possible.

Sticklers for the rules! Don’t be surprised if you get a little sas but on the whole mostly efficient. I can understand its probably easy to get burnt out doing this job. Don’t expect to catch any breaks, but most transactions tend to be quick and painless.

First time I went in for my City Sticker, it was almost the end of the year, and there was no line. When I came back in June I found, well… look at the pictures.
Got in and out at Western Union for $ 5 more, and YOU CAN TOO!

After reading the reviews here, I was not looking forward to this. However, I was able to pop in around 2 pm, so I wasn’t there before work or at noon, when I assume more folks show up. There were two windows open and one gentleman who was talking to someone in line. There were five people before me, and I was up to the teller in five minutes. She was very engaging and actually tried to save me money (my sticker is going to expire in June and then I’ll have to pay for a new one — but I really needed it now)! Can’t ask for more than that.
I turned left and parked on the west side of the building. The entrance to the parking sticker is further up the street on that side, not in front of the building. The office is tiny! Not more than 10 people can fit inside in the line.
If you have registered before, keep in mind that you can do this online and save yourself the hassle. I’m a new resident with out of state plates, so I had to go in.

Points for the free one hour parking. Points to the employee that showed us the entrance before we wasted time walking to the wrong door. This location is far more convenient that driving downtown, and does not charge fees like the currency exchange.

It was quick as there were no lines, but one of the staff was not very friendly after I asked her why the charge for the sticker was more than expected. Even as I sit and think about this transaction, I still can’t understand how they determined the price of a city sticker was $ 28 more than the price noted on the website (for a new vehicle bought within 30 days).
This is why I can’t stand going to government offices… lack of clarification and defensive attitude.

The employees are good people and they do their jobs well. Here’s my perspective: the work space is tiny and can only fit four windows for service, the «trailer» in back is helpful but can only fit two employees in it (and it doesn’t take cash for obvious reasons), and you should expect a line when everyone’s sticker in the entire city expires on the same day. Resources are limited and technology is outdated, and this affects the ability of the workers to do their jobs.
I see no reasonable complaint from someone who knowingly waited till the last day knowing that everyone else is doing the same exact thing. I do the same thing, but I don’t get angry when it backfires because I probably should have done it sooner anyway. That line of thinking just makes no sense to me considering the resources (or lack thereof) that are given to this satellite location and the awareness of the time of year.
And the reason there was a line out the door is because everyone in the city was buying their city sticker before the deadline of June 30^th. While it’s true that there is a grace period, it seems that many people are not aware of the grace period. The trailer in the side lot was taking as many people at a time from the main line as it could fit in the trailer. When the trailer was empty, more people were funneled in. Melrose Park is not a great example considering the difference in size between it and Chicago.
So you have to get guest passes once a year (not to mention, bring your 97 year old mother) and you choose the hottest and busiest time of year to do so? I’m sorry, but that makes no sense to me.

I went two weeks ago to get residential guest parking passes and there was a line outside the back of the building with at least 50 people waiting to get vehicle stickers. Thank goodness it wasn’t the hottest day of the year! One or two went in the side door at a time. Now to show the incompetency of Chicago, there is a worker trailer in the side lot that could have been handling residential parking passes. Melrose Park has a great system, sitting in different areas, and waiting for the number to show up in front of you. I went for license plate sticker and had to wait for two people, 10 minutes! It was great. But here, they herd you outside and you wait while people get 2 and 3 vehicle stickers at a time! There should be a better system and don’t tell me online, I tried that. I only buy two books, my mom is 97 and doesn’t have much company, so 30 passes can last a year. That means I have to come in once a year to prove she’s still alive in order to get her passes. And at this time, there is no parking close by!

I really wanted this to be a good experience. I intentionally did not renew my city sticker on-​line just so I could give this place a GREAT review on Unilocal.
Then I arrived. The line was out the door, into the parking lot directly in the hottest path of the sun. There were elderly and people with disabilities who were not noticed and left to languish in line. My three-​year-​old was patient, but sweaty. I honestly felt like I was in Moscow at the post office (scratch that — I had a better experience at the Glavpochtamt).
The main problem was the woman in charge of crowd-​herding, who was officious and self-​important and thought she was way more helpful than she actually was. What she actually was, was very good at blaming the customers for her incompetence. When my daughter and I finally got to the payment window, the cashiers were cringing from embarrassment from how poorly this… manager (?) was behaving. The woman was a literal train wreck of customer service. She actually insulted my child rearing skills (sorry my daughter was sitting on your DIRTY floor… Don’t worry, I had hand sanitizer… She was TIRED from standing in the heat for a half hour).
I think if you went there when it wasn’t busy, it might be fine.
Does anyone actually do that, though?

So I usually buy my city sticker online and have it mailed to me to avoid crazy lines and crazy people. But, guess what happened to me this year??? I received a defective city sticker! Yep! DEFECTIVE! Fortunately, the city had a way to resolve this issue already in place because apparently there were about 100,000 stickers that needed to be replaced. I could’ve called and had the replacement mailed to me, but I opted to stop at this office before work instead because it’s close to where I live. They opened at 8am and I arrived around 8:15. There was probably a line of about 7 – 8 people in front of me for the defective sticker replacement and I would say it took about 20 minutes to get my replacement and be done. I will say that I find it annoying when the people behind the glass are having their own conversation and barely acknowledge the customer, but at least mine was talking while working. She wouldn’t stop what she was doing to express herself like I’ve seen others do elsewhere ({cough} Comcast). Oh… they also had people standing outside to direct you into the proper line. Also, parking is not easy to find. I’m going to suggest that they give the clerks standing outside a ticket pad or the authority to call a tow truck for the morons that can’t figure out how to park between the lines and not jack up multiple slots. Sometimes I wish I was a cop with a tow truck! ;}

I hate lines. Had to renew the sticker for my car. There was a big line for cash and a smaller one for credit/​check, which the people said both took just as long because there were less computers at the credit one. The credit one was half the time though. The staff were all very nice, but i guess they had all the a/​c.
