History
Established in 1947.
George and Maria Nottoli and their son Anthony moved to Chicago from Lucca, Italy in 1929. In 1947, father and son started a wholesale Italian sausage business together. Three years later, they added a retail element to their business, moving from a rented space at a meat packing facility to their own store at Chicago & Hamlin. In 1971, Nottoli & Son moved from Chicago & Hamlin to their current location on Belmont Avenue. Anthony’s wife, Loretta, worked at the store managing the deli counter and the retail end of the business. Anthony handmade the sausage in the back and grew the wholesale end of the business with the help of his son, George. George II took over Nottoli & Son in 1986. Since then, Nottoli & Son has added sub sandwiches, hot sandwiches, daily specials, Nottoli brand sauce and a heat’n eat catering menu featuring Italian comfort food to Nottoli’s specialties.
