This place is awesome! I work around the corner and come almost every Thursday. The House Special is awesome! I love the newer Macy’s Parade as well. I usually switch it up between those two, but the other menu items are very good.
If you love NY Deli places, you will love this place! By far the best sandwich place in the area. The sandwiches are big, so order a whole and bring your appetite. They do have half sandwiches as well, which is nice.

This is like the dive bars of delis. I can’t decide whether I love it or whether I feel dirty after leaving it, but the food was enough to give the place 3.5 stars (rounded up).
Positives: bagel and lox that felt NY-​ish with generous smear and authentic vibe of the deli over an ubiquitous chain
–1 star for a broken espresso machine because I was craving an Americano; coffee was okay
–1 star for gas station quality bathroom that definitely grossed me out
If I am in the area again and craving bagel and lox, I would definitely return.

This is the first place I tried when I moved to Chicago. I was looking for a place that had coffee, sandwiches and wi-​fi, this place had all three. I love that I’m always greeted when walking in, and everyone that works in there is really nice and helpful. The sandwiches are really good, my favorite is Macy’s parade. I’ve also tried their cappuccinos and holiday drinks, delicious to say the least. If you need a nice, quiet place to get some work done on your computer, this is the place for you. I’ve been going there every week and I don’t know if it’s possible, but it gets better every time.

Just stuffed my face with their ½ Macy’s Parade sandwich and cup of the New England clam chowder. Also ordered Mac & Cheese cuz I’m a fatass and took one bite. Can’t finish it because I’m too full but I WILL devour that mac & cheese later. All I can say is that I feel like I died and went to heaven. Just the right amount of cranberry sauce, juicy turkey, and that havarti cheeeeese. Clam chowder is the best I’ve ever had. Creamy, loaded with clam, potatos, all so hearty. Perfect for cold Chicago weather. If I can eat this every day, I will survive this soon-​to-​be Chiberia season.

We just moved to the area and were in the looks for a corned beef little sandwich shop and boy did we find it. This place is amazing. Great costumer service and the food is wonderful. Tasted like a home cooked meal, perfect for a snowy day like today. The owner and the rest of the staff were very sweet, working hard in the back, but still able to have a friendly conversation and take care of their costumers. Rarely do you find a place this good and homey. My boyfriend had the New Yorker and I had the Reuben, both made to perfection. Have told all of our friends about it and can’t wait to be back!

Best deli in the city and I’ve lived here in the city for 20 years. Delivery was really fast, sandwich was hot, life is good.

I’ve been here a couple of times and the sandwiches are great authentic and huge! The only reason for my docked star is the bread. We ordered on Sunday morning to have sandwiches later for lunch and the bread was incredibly stale I actually had to pick off the hard parts. Maybe their bread had not been delivered yet for the day, but it was awful. Also you can’t be in a hurry here. Very slow.

Only lived in Chicago for a few weeks by grateful this place was recommended to me. Amazing new yorker sandwich. Bacon infused donuts are delicious. I’ll definitely be back frequently.

I came here for the first time with my fellow co-​residents on a Friday around 12:30pm. We were headed to Aje Café, but the place was packed and they normally take a while to bring your food, so we stepped outside, looked across the street, and there it was… New York Deli. I never even knew this place existed. There was one person inside and we were able to order right away.

The server recommended the New Yorker. It was a great recommendation. A half is $ 7, and a full is $ 11. Go with the full. If you like pastrami you will love this. I’d compare it to Manny’s, but BETTER. The cheese, the meat, the dressing, all amazing.

I was a 1^st time customer on an early Saturday afternoon with one couple ahead of me to order but after 10 minutes of waiting to order some soup for carry out, I decided to leave. They seem short of help with one person working behind the counter, a butcher who pays no attention to his customers and a guy sweeping the floor.
I suppose if you have a lot of time to kill, this is the place to go. However, I can’t comment on the food because I never was given a chance to try it out.

Had a simple egg and cheese on bagel but it was grilled to perfection. Coffee was great. Nice little patio to enjoy on a beautiful day. The 2 gentleman were very nice, excellent customer service! Very reasonable prices and 10%off for checking in on Unilocal

Sandwiches were really good, came with a group of 6ppl took a while for them to serve us. I will call order in advance next time. We had a brownie for dessert is wasn’t great, next time I’ll opt for the donut.

Best sandwiches ever period. Go get 9inches of hot meat inside you. I had about half the menu and its straight bomb all of it.

This is the tale of 2 sandwiches well really one sandwich we split 2 ways it was not the best of sandwiches or the worst of sandwiches but there where some high and low points. We ordered the large New Yorker which cost $ 11 we were told they where out of marble rye but could serve it on french bread which some people prefer. We said no problem use the french bread but would I rather of had marble rye, yes and out of rye at a deli thats just wrong. The flavor was pretty good but there was not very much meat on the sandwich and it did not resemble the sandwiches pictured here on Unilocal piled high with meat. For eleven bucks I would expect a sandwich heaping with meat but this New Yorker was not and sadly we left still hungry. Like I said it tasted pretty good but one half of the sandwich had lots of fatty meat and really there was only one thin layer of meat on the whole sandwich. The people who helped us where very nice but it did take a while to get our sandwich and my other complaint is the menu looked a little small not that many choices. This seems like a pretty good place and I’m thinking they may have just had a off day, out of rye not sure why our sandwich was so skimpy but I will definitely give it another try and see how New York treats me.

Just a quick update, I think this place is under new management /​ownership because the new menu is similar but not exactly the same to NY Sub. I thought the sandwiches were just OK the last time we went in.

This place is open for sure. Was looking for a deli similar to the delis I frequented on the East Coast. This place is dank. I had the New Yorker and it was the best Pastrami sandwich I’ve had since I’ve moved to Chicago from New York. The sandwich was the perfect size for the price. They also have Glazed & Infused donuts. Come on dude.

I crave it. The meat used is the best in the city. And they have a iced coffee fountain. Whaaaattt. Amazing.
And the best part is the staff is so wonderful! Treats you like family and when you can’t remember what you order they do! Sooo cute!

Sadly this place was closed and sold. It had been closed here an there lately and then walked in a few weeks ago and the guy said it was sold and he was moving. Sad sandwich day

The sandwiches here are pretty fantastic. And the service is even better.
This place is a little hidden gem. I’ve walked by it a thousand times before actually deciding to stop in. I am SO happy that I finally did.
Massive portions (seriously, they don’t skimp on the ingredients!), fresh bread, and they use Boar’s Head meat. They also have some awesome dressings. I was stuffed after just half of a sandwich. They offer a bunch of different sandwich options (of course you can always create your own) as well as soups, paninis, etc. They also have yummy potato salad that you can get as a side.

This is a really solid, *almost* authentic New York deli in Lakeview East. I lived in NYC for 4 years and went to the «real» New York Deli in Murray Hill on a fairly regular basis. Though it’s not a pitch perfect image, it definitely holds its own on super solid, hearty sandwiches.
I got the turkey w/​L/​T/​M. Great proportions, hearty thick french bread, super fresh boar’s head deli meat, and good lettuce to mayo ratio. I especially like that the presentation is clean and well organized like a sandwich should be. I was definitely full after just half a sandwich. Their signatures also use an absolutely delish pesto mayo that adds a pitch of zest to a fresh and tasty deli classic.
I will definitely be back when I need my NY sandwich fix.
