Near the Pier Development

We love the staff at Near the Pier. They are kind, nurturing and thoughtful. They have a no nut policy and gladly accommodate for special dietary guidelines. The infant and toddler teachers have displayed so much care and attention. I sincerely feel that they treat my kids like their own. The center has been in existence for nearly two decades so although the building is not brand new, it has a very happy ambiance. Our little ones are learning Spanish and Japanese and have even began requesting things using their new vocabulary. At 20 months of age our little ones were counting to 13 and identifying shapes such as rhombus and octagon in addition to the traditional geometric shapes. I feel Near the Pier is giving our kids a great head start on their education. This center also offers more convenience than other centers as they are open as early as 6:30 AM and as late as 6:30 PM. They have a great variety of activities as well as monthly field trips. Other reviewers have made negative comments about staff detaining kids in high chairs for up to an hour. This center offers parents the ability to login into IP camera video monitoring to which we subscribe. We have never seen this happen. I’ve also seen statements about staff being in their pajamas. I’d like to note that the staff do wear scrubs which I suppose someone could have mistaken for pajamas if they weren’t familiar with them. I’m not sure what the center was like in past years, but we’ve been using it for three years now and are very happy with the results we’re seeing.

this place is a joke, I would not send my children to these loud mouth uneducated people ever. the teachers are very mean to the children, being very aggressive, & on edge. I think children can sense when adults are agitated and I don’t believe people that cant handle children should be working with them. this place is in desperate need of a paint job, and a makeover on the staff and the building, it looks scary and ghetto and the staff are in their pajamas, why would I pay tons of money to drop my children off to some uneducated 22 year old that speaks ebonics? Its honestly embarrassing. stay away from this place.

I absolutely love this daycare for my eight month old daughter. I have had her here for over a month now and not a day goes by where she does not get attention and love from her infant care teachers to the entire staff at this daycare. I could have not asked for a better care provider for my baby girl. The infant care teachers love each and every single child that they care for. On top of that they are excited to talk to the parents about their infants daily. They show so much love attention to each individual infant that I have no idea how they do it. I will make sure my child is here for the duration of her daycare and kindergarten years. The 1.5 hour drive each way is so worth it given that amount of care and love my daughter gets. Out of all the daycare facilities I have visited by my house and work this is the only one that offers cameras to view your child which says a lot about this place. They have also been open since the early 90’s which is rare to find also. I absolutely cannot say enough about this place and look forward to each and every day I go there with my daughter. Love this place to pieces!!!

I absolutely agree with the prior post that NTP «does business with heart.» My daughter started at NTP’s Infant Care program when she was 13 weeks. Now, she just turned a year and we feel as though NTP is part of the family. Her instructors in the infant room are fantastic. They truly love and care for my daughter as their own. When I drop my daughter off in the morning, she always gives a big smile to the instructor and reaches for her. They have great developmental activities and games for the kids.
The management at NTP is also fantastic. Safety and the kids’ well-​being is a top priority. Both the management and instructors have developped a great repore with the parents and always keep us informed as to the upcoming events. I’ve visited and even tried other daycares, but NTP is by far the best I’ve seen.

This place does business with heart. We have been looking at several infant care services around, and — while Near the Pier might not appear as new or organized as some others at 1^st sight — it is an incredible place for children.
There’s always a good vibe in there, children are playing, smiling, having a good time. Our little one is always well attended for in the infant room, all teachers are cordial, professional, and they seem to care for our baby as if it was their own.
The head master Monica has been in business for 26+ years and it clearly shows. Unlike other places where teacher turn-​over is high, the appearance is good but the substance is less, we felt this place was all about substance.
Yes, the walls may need a new touch of paint, but so what — do the children really care? They are loved and happy there.

My almost 2 year-​old son has been attending for over a month half-​days and, although he cries every-​time he arrives, he ends up happy an playful (I can see him through a camera because they provide this service). The teachers are friendly and nice. There are no NUTS served ever, which is great. They have a menu (not the best food) you can view on the bulletin board, and Ms. Tonya is great as the head of school. They are not strict, more laid-​back than other daycares I visited. He likes it, and so do I. I only recommend it for early childhood education, as a daycare.
