I came here for lunch with a co-worker since we work in the business district nearby. I was definitely craving Asian food and was pleased to find one(through Unilocal!) a short walk away. Both my friend and I have lived in Bangkok before for an extended period of time, and found the food to be pretty average. I’m definitely not complaining, though, as it seems to be your best option for Thai food around the area. We got pad ki mao(flat flour noodles with a primarily basil taste) with chicken, as well as pad krapow(white rice with ground pork fried with basil topped with a fried egg). My friend found the latter spicy, but then again her spice tolerance is atrocious so I would take her comment with a grain of salt hahaha. Definitely coming back here again! It’s slightly on the pricier side – my pad ki mao came up to a little over $ 12 with tip and tax. Also, come after the 12 – 12.40pm lunchtime rush.

Probably one of the worst customer service«restaurants». Your experience solely depends on the waiter. Most of the time it will be very similar to McDonalds(nothing wrong with it), except I am paying a premium for the sit-down experience… not fast food. Any changes on your order, they will charge.

The food is just ok, but expensive. I ordered a pad Thai for lunch and it came out $ 11.45. A pad Thai lunch is $ 11.45? Pad Thai is almost the cheapest entrée in their menu, so imagine how much would it be for other fancy dishes. Beside over priced food, the staff is unfriendly. They never smile and look mean. Just say a few words if they had to talk to us.

Don’t get my wrong the food is great, but the service is horrible. They don’t smile. They rush everything. They basically give an attitude when you walk in until you walk out. That’s why they get One Star.

The staff does disservice to the restaurant. The host, so pompous! I couldn’t believe it. All he needs to do is smile, greet, and seat people. I went there a few times in one week because it is close by and I liked the food. But I can’t stand the staff. They all seam unhappy and inconvenienced that you are there, even when no one is there, like at 11 am. I will walk farther to Hot Wok and Cool Sushi next time to eat the same food, and give my money to people who deserve it.

Unappetizing and overpriced. I ordered the shrimp tempura ramen and I only received 2 pieces of shrimp tempura which tasted nasty!!! They must buy the lowest quality shrimp out there! Service was also horrible, I asked the hostess only 1 question and she was extremely rude in her response! I will never come here again especially since there are far better food options in the area! Avoid at all costs.

Food was ordered via company account via seamless . Good: hot rice, fresh vegetables, cat fish isn’t fishy smelling(good) Bad: portion not as large as other Thai restaurant we have in menu. Curry sauce too sweet, almost like eating desert; not spicy as stated in menu. I’m not a cook but eaten enough Thai curry to know that it should not taste like eating desert.

This review is just for the katsudon. I ordered a katsudon to go, and the service was fine and prompt. Person at the register came to me and handed me my food without having me to go up. Katsudon is a donburi dish that consists of a cut up tonkatsu cutlet, with a sauce made with softly cooked eggs and onions(and mirin, etc) on top. The flavour was there for the sauce, but the egg was cooked a little too long for my liking. This varies in restaurants, but I mostly prefer the slightly runny egg sauce. The tonkatsu itself was sad, and I wish they had thrown in the cutlet a little later to have *some* of the crunchy texture of fried goodness. It didn’t seem like it was freshly fried, so this might have contributed to the loss of le crunch. The rice was really soft and soaked up the sauce really well. Although it isn’t the best katsudon that I’ve had, it still satisfied me. I also get two lunches out of it cause it’s so big. Oh yeah, it came with a miso soup which was pretty standard. Tofu tasted a bit funky though.

I’ve been to MyThai about 4 or 5 times now and I think it’s time to get down to the nitty gritty. I want to LOVE this place. I really do… but there’s two things that I just can’t get past to give them more than 3 stars. Let’s start off with the pros, since I’m an optimist(well, only on Unilocal) and I feel like they have a lot going for them. Large space, cute enough for a downtown loop lunch/dinner spot. The ramen is a really large portion and is pretty tasty. Of course, it’s not going to be 100% authentic; however, it’s easy for me to look past that since it’s still delicious and a great meal for those cold dreary days in the city of Chicago. Their sushi is pretty good: not terrible, but not great either. Just good. The rolls are pretty typical nothing terribly special about them. The only thing I have tried and did not like here is the Crab Rangoon… I don’t know what it is about it, but it’s just different than I usually have it. On with the negatives… for a restaurant in the Loop, I expect that if I sit down at 12:00pm that I will be back in my office no later than 1:05pm. Almost all of the restaurants I have been to are super successful at meeting that expectation as they know that most companies have a strict 1 hour lunch and they want to get people in and out as fast as they can. MyThai, however, cannot accomplish this in their dining room. I’ve realized the only way that you can accomplish this deadline is if you sit down at 12:00pm, order at 12:05pm, you’ll get your food at 12:45pm and have to shovel it down as fast as you can to get your check and walk out the door. Or, you can do what I do and try to get a seat in the smaller front area they have where the wait staff is a lot more efficient and quick. I hate feeling stressed to get back to the office while I eat so this is a major issue for me. Maybe for some it wouldn’t be a major concern — whatever the case, lose 1 star for slow service. The second lost star is the overall service staff as a whole. I have never felt like I have inconvenienced a waitstaff so much until I come to MyThai. I’m a pretty low maintenance diner, and it’s just always so crazy to me that a waiter would get annoyed when you ask for more water when you’re completely empty, or annoyed when you ask for the check(especially in the Loop when it is a lunch hour). I just can’t get past it. So, good? Yes. I like this place a lot. I’ve slowed down on going though since it’s always a struggle to get out of there and I also just feel like I’m consistently a burden while being served. Maybe they’re in a winter rut? I hope so because their good is good and I want to keep returning here.

Headed out to lunch at My Thai with the FLC(Friday Lunch Crew). This place is a good spot to check out if you are in the mood for Thai food, sushi, and other Japanese dishes. The FLC did a family style meal this time. We tried a sushi roll, peppered beef, pad see ew, curry, spicy fried rice, and pad kra prow. All the dishes are good but not my favorite for Thai or sushi. One of the ramen experts in the group evaluated the ramen as just so-so. What I do like about this place is they have friendly service and a good dine-in spot by work. All the other lunch spots around the area have no seats and lines out the door.

Ordered through Grubhub. Worst Thai food I’ve ever had. Pad Thai and Pad See Ew tasted like grease. No veggies or color in Pad Thai. I mean it was awful, never seen anything like it. The crab rangoon was made without the traditional dough. Definitely will not be returning.

Great little spin-off of the My Thai restaurant. Our family had the Ramen soup bowls, of which there are nine, two types of sushi and some beef fried rice. All of the dishes were fresh, flavorful, reasonably priced and were heartily finished off by us. I’m not going into much detail here, because I don’t remember the exact names of the sushi — but the soups we had were #‘s 4, 7, 7&9 — that much i can say. I feel we were lucky to get a seat in this small place because it was the day before Thanksgiving, and the crowd was lighter than usual. If you like Thai/Asian fusion you will like this place.

No sushi on the weekends, weird. Tom yum ramen with egg was to die for. The pork meat was so soft, it melted in your mouth. The mini eggrolls were ok, too much unseasoned pork and less veggie or noodles.

Is it okay to critique a dish that I can’t even pronounce? The Tonkotsu Ramen is okay; I’ve had better. I also can’t really pronounce the other ingredients, but I’ll say they were okay too: pork loin chashu, kikuragemenma, and kizami shoga. To be honest, I don’t even know what they are, but I just remember thinking that the whole dish tasted«A-OK.» I’m removing stars because at the time I was there, they were out of «Thai Custard.» Sad face.

I ordered the teriyaki chicken with fried rice. Should be easy enough, right? It was terrible. The quality of chicken was poorer than poor. It tasted as if this plate had been sitting out for a day. In addition, the flavoring was completely off and not even close to teriyaki. I was extremely disappointed and I will not go back.

Fast delivery. Great Thai food. The mini-egg rolls are pork-heaven. The thing that really pushed this delivery spot over the edge for me is the willingness of the chefs to make a plate spicy! I always request extra spicy from Asian food places and I usually get a couple extra packets of chili sauce. I asked for extra spicy and some jalapeños and My Thai delivered! My pad Thai was excellent… and spicy! Just what I requested. Great for west-loop delivery. Will order again.

Went as a party of 8 during lunch for a work outing. The dining room is big so the staff was already working hard, but it was around ten minutes between the first and last party member got their order. Everyone was pleased with the quality of their food once it arrived, but nothing extraordinary. Most of the party ordered the bento box lunches, which don’t have a lot of room for wowing the patron. I had the Pork Katsu Curry, and it definitely hit the spot. The cutlet was crispy and the curry was standard; a generous portion. Zero complaints on the food. My one big complaint is that our table tops had this rubbery textured coating which trapped old food and other particles. I’m sure they wipe them down with sanitizer, but it’s disgusting.

Overall: Average thai and asian food for a pretty good price. The good: Decently priced, especially for downtown. A lot to choose from. Good sized restaurant that’s clean and modern but still has flair. Good portions The bad: The food is just average. My dish was swimming in sauce, and it wasn’t too hot(temp). Service was slow and wasn’t very welcoming. Atmosphere: 8⁄10 Service: 6⁄10 Food: 6⁄10

In all honesty I did not go here with high expectations. Normally a place that offers all sorts of different cuisines like Japanese dishes, Thai and Sushi have not been great options in the past; but that was not the case with MyThai Takumi. I had a Thai Noodle dish, Pad See Eiw, and it was really good. This is a nice little asian place in a great location. I will definitely come back for future lunches. Ohh… they also have beer too; so Don’t forget the Sapporo!

I stopped by here after picking up a friend from Union Station. We were cold and famished. We Unilocaled the nearest restaurant that served warm noodle soup and ended up here. The restaurant is fairly small. It looks like a place people on their lunch break would stop by for a quick lunch. We both ordered a bowl of tonkatsu ramen. First of all, it’s not real ramen. It’s regular Asian noodles. The broth was not very flavorful. The ramen served it’s purpose of warming us up and leaving our bellies full. That’s all we wanted so that’s why it gets a 3 stars from me. Overall, this place is acceptable when you’re in a pinch and simply need to eat to decrease your hunger.

Their ramen is unquestionable, very good. However, the servers are incredibly rude and racist. They like to hang up on people’s phone calls or stare at customers then start commenting in their language. The other night, I went to pick up my order and I saw the cashier was on the phone with someone, «Hello, this is Takumi. There is a black guy standing in front of my store. Smell so bad.» Honestly, I have dined in there many times before and I always see the servers being rude to the customers. I think this issue is very serious and I hope the servers would be trained more professionally. I believe that they enjoy commenting on people a lot because they are always laughing in a very mean way.

I was trying to find a ramen spot near the loop and Takumi Ramen didn’t have seating for the 3 of us so they told us to come here as they also serve ramen as well. We were seated right away, and we all ordered ramen. I got the spicy miso ramen, and that was pretty decent. I wasn’t blown away, but it hit the spot on the first day we saw flurries. The prices were reasonable, but the service was definitely questionable. I think they may have a reputation for rudeness or not the friendliest, in which case I could see snippets of that with us and other tables where the servers walked off ignored people.

I have been waiting to be asked for my food for 15 minutes, then I had to ask myself, after that I was waiting for another 30 minutes for my food to get delivered. In total I wasted 45minutes just to get my food!!! Seriously, 45mins!!! I ordered Roasted Duck, it had huge tomatoes, soup was a thick paste, with starchy taste, duck meet had a lot of fat. Uhhh :(. NB I love Roasted Duck Curry but here it sucked. Sad.

Their pad Thai with chicken is very good. It’s maybe a little too oily but that’s not overall a problem since it has good flavor. I loved their crab Rangoons they were nice and crispy and a good portion for people to share becaus each one is a nice size. I thought the staff was nice when they dropped the food off and it didn’t take to long to get the delivery. I think all my friends and I were happy with what we got.
