What a horrible experience, thanks to Sabrina. I walked in tonight and made a bee line for the bathroom. I couldn’t get the light to turn on so I asked the girl working for help. She scoffed at me and sarcastically asked, «did you try the bottom?» Of course I had, but at a loss for her attitude I retreated back to try again. I asked her, «ma’am I don’t think it’s working, could you please help?» With an annoyed scowl she slammed her clipboard and darted towards the bathroom. She too had difficulties getting the lights to turn on. In the midst of her struggle I attempted to ease the tension by making a joke, «guess it’s a bit tricky, huh?» Needless to say she was not amused. She swiftly turned to me and said, «sir, you need to calm down!» Again taken back by her unsolicited anger, I quickly picked my overpriced dinner and got out of there. Sabrina was obviously upset about something unrelated but her unprofessionalism, rude attitude and sheer disregard for me as a customer or herself as the brands representative was mind blowing.

I grabbed a salad here after getting a coupon for a free entrée in the mail. Everything was fine except that I was waiting in the store for 2 – 3 minutes before anyone came out to ring me up. Also there was no dressing on the salad, probably because they are all about the nutrition facts and calorie counting.

I initially felt a little ashamed coming here. I know how to cook healthy foods! But with the holidays coming, I wanted to give myself a break on my diligent Sunday food prepping. I also wanted to make sure I am eating healthy at least most days of the week. I did a lot of reading before I came here and I liked what I saw– My Fit Foods’ philosophy is 40% protein, 40% carbs, 20% fat. It’s amazing how a small portion can fill you up when it’s packed with protein and good carbs. Sodium is pretty low too, but everything is nicely seasoned. Even with dressing(balsamic– some of the best I’ve ever had), their mediterranean shrimp salad is 270 calories. And it’s a really hearty salad! I work in the Loop, so at least from my vantage point, the prices are okay. I came here for healthy lunches and dinners. It’s less expensive than restaurant food by my home and office, marginally more expensive than a home cooked meal with similar quality ingredients. Make sure to look for coupons; I found 20% off through the end of November. Couple things I wish for– a location in the Loop and more salad offerings. Right now there are only two lunch salads available. My office is the size of a studio apartment, so we don’t have a microwave in here(that would get odorous really fast). I rely on cold foods at lunch. If there was a Loop location, I could warm up their delicious warm lunch offerings right there!

I’m teetering between giving this place 3 to 4 stars because I know if you’re a true health nut this place is probably heaven for you. I’ll admit I’m not the healthiest eater, so it will take a little getting use to the bland taste. It isn’t horrible, but of course it doesn’t taste like all the yummy fattening foods. I got the Chicken Parmesan for lunch. It was very very bland… like I wish I could add a ton of salt. For 370 calories though I get why. For dinner I got the Salmon and that one was much better and had some flavor to it. It was 570 calories though, so that’s probably why. I will be back to try more food items, but I will pace myself. It left me full, but had me craving the flavors I’m used to.

Gives you a real good understanding of proper portion size, but also leaves you satisfied. If you are busy, want to eat healthy you need to check this place out!

Wow they must have been reading their Unilocal reviews because they put prices on the food now and they have little signs if something is spicy. Also, the chicken doesn’t have the texture of rubber anymore. A lot of the food is still spicy, but at least you know now. The prices are kind of high… and it would be nice to have more low-carb options… BUT it’s much improved.

The meals are great! They are fresh, there is a good variety, and the portions are perfect. I think that the Mexican meals are the best. The staff is helpful and doesn’t bombard me with unsolicited sales pitches and advice, which makes for a pleasant shopping experience.

I stopped by when the store first opened on North Avenue. The person that waited on me was extremely pushy. As a result, I left the store. I’m in the middle of a kitchen remodel and looking for meal options. Thought I’d give it another look. Had a nice woman help me buy 3 meals. Since then, I’ve returned multiple times. Wow…the food is excellent! Breakfast omlet made with turkey chorizo, gumbo, herb roasted chicken, cast iron salmon are my favorites. I log my food intake on MyFitness Pal. All of My Fit Foods are on their database and easy to log. They make it easy to eat well, control portions, and watch calories.

I started the 21 day challenge and I feel GREAT! Rachel designed a gluten-free meal plan for me that is so delicious. I am losing weight and am never hungry, something I have never experienced in the past. I basically get to eat delicious food all day, the meals are fresh and there is tons of variety. Very economical for the variety of foods you get to eat and the quality of the foods. I love it and plan to continue to work with Rachel much past the 21 days. Thank you, Denise

Overall, I think its amazing to have a place like this around. I prefer to eat clean, whole foods but that can be hard to do consistently, especially for lunch. My Fit Foods solves that problem for me. The cost of a meal here is on par with or less than what I’d spend for lunch if I ate out somewhere with counter service but instead of getting mystery meat and hidden calories, you get a deliciously prepared, nourishing meal that you feel great about giving your body. I don’t give it 5 stars because some of the food tastes like«health food» from the freezer. A little bland, kind of funny textures on the veggies, etc. But for every meal that I’ve had that was«eh» I’ve had 2 or 3 that were great, so it comes down to personal taste and preferences. Definitely give it a try! The portions may seem small, but I think they are a great reminder of what our bodies actually need versus what the food industry has taught us that we need. In reality, even the small portions leave me satisfied. I love stocking up with My Fit Foods meals for a week to kind of detox and reset my body when I feel myself eating out too much or falling into bad habits. Lastly, all the employees I’ve encountered are super friendly and helpful and not the least bit pushy. A great service!

I’d like to start by saying I prep all my own food for 2 people 5 – 6 days out of the week. I even have those little black containers. I never leave my house without a healthy meal with me. Every once in a while though you just want a break from the prep and My Fit Foods is perfect for that. If you are busy and on the go, My Fit Foods has you covered. It is so nice to walk in there and just line up your meals for the week. With my bulk prep I usually do, it leaves me eating the same thing for days. I really liked the variety, the flavor, portions and the way they reheated. I will be using My Fit Foods again very soon. The staff was very helpful too.

The food is good, well-balanced, and gluten-free. Great variety. It’s on the expensive side if you plan to get all your meals for the week here, but if you’re just looking to supplement, it’s about the same as eating out. What I didn’t like was the customer service. When I checked out the first time, with $ 125 worth of food, the gal was kind enough to package it up in the order I should eat it so it wouldn’t go bad. Each day’s food was in a bag. Awesome! She said she would send me all sorts of nutrition information via email; I never received that. The second time I went, purchasing $ 175 worth of food, she just bagged it up and sent me on my way. No special handling. And, I ended up throwing out two $ 10 dinners because they smelled funky only one day after the«sell by» date. I had made a mental commitment to do the«21 Day Challenge,» but didn’t bother to go back after the second trip. I needed some nutritional support and maybe a bit of attention that I just didn’t get. Might try another location to see if the service is better.

If you value your time and like to eat healthy this is the best place in Chicago. I did research with other competitive services before going here and they were the only ones who understood the fundamentals to eating healthy. They go off the glycemic index and don’t try to push any fad diets on you. What they offer is a lifetyle of eating that is feasible and should work long term. The meals taste great and are much better reheated than any food you would bring home from a restaurant or make yourself. Some meals are better than others but they have quite a large selection to choose from. Despite what some of the reviews on here say I would say they are priced very fair. They are by no means cheap but if money is an issue you should be cooking for yourself. It is still much more healthy than eating at a restaurant and also cheaper. They have a registered dietitian on staff that comes up with your meal plans and customizes it to your needs and preferences. This alone adds quite a bit of value as if you wanted to hire someone to do this for you it would cost quite a bit. They also have excellent customer service. I’ve had some mistakes made in the past on orders but they made it right every time. The only bad thing about this service is that they do not offer delivery. Since they are the best service of their kind in town for now it’s just something that I’m willing to deal with.

This place is awesome. I love junk food but am quickly being won over to eating right. Being health-conscious can be challenging when we are inundated with junk. My Fit Foods is neat because it combines healthy with convenient. The person running the counter is a nutritionist which is dope. I’ve never spoken to a nutritionist at a restaurant before. She helped my friend and me pick out dinners, cooked it, brought it to us, and was really friendly but not pushy at all. Portion sizes look tiny for the price. Then, you realize us Americans gorge ourselves and smaller portions are just better. The point of eating isn’t to feel like the Michelin Man afterwards. The price seemed like too much, $ 10. Then you realize you are buying the equivalent of premium fuel for YOURBODY so then $ 10 doesn’t sound so bad. I had the ground turkey with rice and asparagus. Seasoned just right! I grabbed a Sriracha packet but didn’t even need it. Standing alone, it was very good! More importantly, walking out, you feel rejuvenated from having eaten. This is something that just won’t happen walking out of McDonald’s where I could easily spend the same amount of money and want to take a nap after eating processed who-knows-what. Definitely check this place out if you care about your body and what you feed it. Only detraction is parking which generally sucks everywhere in Chicago.

I really like the idea of this place. It seems like they have a lot of healthful, prepackaged food options. They make everything on site, and the meals look very delicious. However, the main problem is that they don’t offer any decent vegetarian options. None of the salads or main courses are meat free. The only vegetarian options that they have are snack and breakfast options. Another problem is the price. I didn’t even realize it before I checked out, but I spent 4.50 on carrot and celery slices that came with about 1 ounce of almond butter. That’s crazy. If they had more vegetarian meal options I would be ok with spending a little extra money for a healthy, prepared meal. But as of now, that isn’t an option.

This place is like a godsent! So many gluten free foods, more than you could ever imagine. I got two meals here. One was for dinner and one was for lunch. The portion sizes are great and the food tastes amazing. The 21 day plan is a great place to start if you need to get into a healthier lifestyle.

When coming to My Fit Foods, you need to understand what you’re getting into. This is a way to improve your lifestyle, get you away from all the bad stuff we Americans have been gorging on, and make better decisions moving forward. I walked in late November and sat down w/Patty(on-site nutritionist). She was very helpful in going over the concept with me and talking about food in general. I did the 21 day plan and loved it. Was every meal the best tasting thing I’ve ever had? No! Absolutely not! But most of them were pretty good! Think about it, if healthy food tasted as good as the pork belly from Publican, Americans would all look like super models rather than Chris Farley. Will these be the best tasting foods you’ve ever tasted? No, but for healthy, quick options that you feel better afterwards on — they are pretty good! Will there be times in the 21 day challenge when you feel hungry or want to go to Portillos? Yes, deal with it :) Will this be the best you’ve felt health-wise in any time period you can remember? For me, yes. I enjoyed the 21 day cleanse(I did a modified version due to my work schedule) where I basically ate 80% of my meals from My Fit. In regards to a lot of people’s notes that it is expensive… well, no kidding you can make your own ½ apple, celery, and almond butter for less than 5.25 — but who really as the time for it? The convenience factor is so nice and it is still cheaper than buying a sub, chips and pop at Jimmy Johns(I learned that that’s not healthy — hah). I imitated a few of the meals they have there and when all is said and done, you probably pay about 2x what you’d pay at the grocery store. For me, this is a major steal to not have to spend an hour at the store, then make the dish, etc. Plus the issue with buying your own is that most of the time you need to buy too much(and then throw it away). My Fit is a great option for people who are serious about being fit and live a quick lifestyle. I still eat most of my breakfasts, some lunches, and some dinners from there. I give it a high recommendation, and just know that they are flexible as well. Don’t be intimidated by a commitment — definitely willing to work with you.

This location on North Avenue just west of LaSalle in Chicago has been vacant for some time. It is good to see a new business there. As far as My Fit Foods goes, here are my impressions from my first visit: This is a chain that sells prepared entrees for breakfast, lunch and dinner for those who wish to watch their weight or eat healthy with various portion sizes available. Each entrée is further organized by small, medium and large sizes with different prices for each. Nutritional information is on the bottom of each container. Also, a nutritionist is available at the store. What brought me into the store was the gleaming colors and illuminated refrigerated cases that face North Avenue. As some other reviewers have indicated, a sales person does approach you right away to explain the concept and answer any questions you may have but I did not initially view this as problemsome as I was curious to learn more about this concept. The manager Preston, an attractive straight southern boy in very tight jeans and tight t-shirt is easy on the eyes and explained the concept to me and I decided to give it a try. I can understand how people feel about being pressured by a sales person. I am certain that Preston would back off if you told him you didn’t need any assistance. I bought two small dinner entrees – Wes County dinner & Ninja Tenderloin which cost a total of almost $ 20 with tax… the large entrees would be from $ 11.50 — $ 13.00. The price point is a little pricey but tolerable if the food was excellent. Unfortunately, I cannot give a high score for either entrée. The Wes Country dinner had tastey cauliflower mash but the flax seed crusted chicken breast had been over cooked and was rubbery and hard to cut and eat. The Ninja Tenderloin was supposed to contain a piece of lean tenderloin with a bed of fresh vegetables(red onions, carrots, mushrooms and spinach) but the tenderloin was overcooked, very difficult to cut and chew and only contained carrots and a small amount of spinach. Granted, I only tried 2 of 13 dinner entrees and while I wasn’t pleased, I might give them one last chance and try a different entrée. I thought the food would be fresh in view of the kitchen being on the premises but noticed that the items I bought had almost reached their expiration date. If you decide to try this store, make sure you take the products in the back of the display case which are the freshest. I believe if My Fit Foods wants to be successful in the Chicago market, it is going to have to try harder and improve quality control. An attractive store with eye candy staff only goes so far. If the food is not of good quality and is priced too high, then we know what the fate of this chain will be. I try to eat healthy foods every day which takes some effort, work out 4 days a week and thought this chain might make it easier for me but on first blush they have failed. Good effort but poorly executed. Stores such as My Fit Foods are needed and I wish them success but hope they take customer comments into consideration and improve their product but keep their staff :)

I wanted to update my previous My Fit Foods Review because I felt the need to send them some more glowing praise! I went back in on Tuesday. took my Aunt Arlene in with me, wanted to show her why I loved this place so much! More things to Love here. Bradley, the Corporate Training Guy took us on a tour of the kitchen, food preparation areas, met some of the kitchen staff/cooks. You see. they prepare all of their foods right here on premises, it is all being freshly made/prepared on a daily basis. There is absolutely nothing frozen or shipped into this store, Just pure quality! Okay. so you may ask. Just how good this food is. Let me tell you. every single entrée I have brought home has been phenominal. And.this is all pre-portioned quality food, if you’re thinking it’s anything like Lean Cuisine or a Weight Watchers frozen meal you would be mistaken. Because this is all top of the line stuff! For the Record. prices do vary depending on the portion size you are getting. the recommended size for women is small and that’s what I have been getting and it’s just perfect. But. the difference here is that this is a lifestyle change and instead of blowing money at McDonalds you could be getting healthier options here. And. once again. everything has tasted great! So. Thanks to Bradley for the tour and for all your knowledge and help. And. Thanks for the my My Fit Foods thermal bag to keep my food fresh/cold on the way home! Okay. and yes. I will be picking up my T-Shirt this weekend! I was so lucky to have found this place. A great concept and a class A operation! I couldn’t be more impressed if I tried… P.S for anyone interested the Clark/Diversey store will be opening in 2 months.

The food is great– healthy, portioned out, pretty affordable(for eating out), and very fresh. I am very impressed. What’s terrible about this place is their over the top customer service and awkwardly designed shop. The workers swarm and attack you when you walk in. It’s not even a joke, I may not return because it’s really annoying and unnecessary. I know I sound like the grinch, but go there, and then let me know how awkward they are. There is no need to cling to the shoppers or stalk them while they look around. Concept is incredible, but let’s not go over board with the friendliness and customer service when I really just want to run in, grab a few to-go meals, and leave.
