Description

Specialties

Right in the heart of the historical Maxwell Street district of downtown Chicago’s University Village. Moxee’s American Kitchen and Mad Mouse Brewery is part of the thriving urban oasis that is modern day Maxwell Street. Plenty of parking, hustle and bustle, and history abound.

At Moxee, they do what they know best: Beer, BBQ, and good lookin’ scratch cookin’. Having traveled all over this great land, their menu is like an ongoing love letter to America. Each dish carries something special they’ve encountered in their travels.

Using only local green hickory wood to smoke succulent baby back ribs, farm fresh chicken, beef brisket and pork shoulder; specialty meats such as Bourbon-cured pork belly, beef pastrami, cider-brined turkey and smoked salmon, sausages and more.

Their motto is «Edible ingenuity and liquid innovation.»

Mad Mouse Brewery, attached to Moxee, is a small, experimental brewery that concocts unique specialty ales in 3 half-barrel batches. Recipes were developed by resident brewer Phil Zelewsky.

In addition to our Mad Mouse beers, the bar at Moxee pours a rotating selection of the world’s finest craft beers on 24 taps. Moxee also features an intriguing array of carefully selected wines, and creative classic and contemporary artisan cocktails. Craft cocktails combine pressed juices, homemade extracts and fresh botanicals with top shelf spirits (many of them distilled locally) providing Greg Rice, head bartender, with an extensive palate of flavors.

History

Established in 2014.

«Small-batch» underlies everything they do – from the brew house to the kitchen. Recipes from 26 years of cooking and travelling, they strive to provide the community

with a place that individuals and families alike can call their local spot. Moxee is located at historic 724 Maxwell St. in the heart of University Village in Chicago, Illinois.

«Edible ingenuity and liquid innovation.»

At Moxee, they do what we know best: Beer, BBQ, and good lookin’ scratch cookin’. They’ve been all over this great land and like to think of the menu is an ongoing love letter to America. Each dish carries something special encountered in the travels, and with recipes honed some of our recipes at Prairie Moon in Evanston and Wheatberry Tavern in Buchanan Michigan.
