The First time I went there(a Couple of Weeks ago), the Service was Great. So was the Food and the Staff. However, the Prices run $ 25-$ 35 higher than Normal and I’m just One Person! $ 70 is Too High for Four Pieces of Sushi and 3 Glasses of Wine. I Understand the Chef is Most Particular about his Fish, which is a Good thing; but Still … Last Friday, I was too Lazy to Walk to RA, so I went there Despite the High Prices. The Manager/Host was Rude … I went to Sit down at the Corner of the Sushi Bar and he Demanded I get Up because he Didn’t Know if he had Reservations. This is Not Showing a Customer Proper Respect! He Should’ve known Who he was Expecting and if he Didn’t, he should Not have Been Rude and Insulting. There are Multiple Ways to Deal with this … I should’ve Walked Right Out, Then and There!!! I had 2 Uni Hand Rolls and they Had the Nerve to Charge a $ 2 Specialty Fee. This would Not have Happened at RA, where they Recently Made the Most Delicious Hand Rolls of Several Varieties just for Me. The Server was Great. So were the Gentlemen behind the Sushi Bar … The Bill Again? $ 70! Why? The Hand Rolls were Not as Good as the Ones at RA … One of them Had a Clump of Wasabi inside That was Not Properly Distributed. I’m Just Not going Back. I had One Small Hamachi, One Small Wasabi Tobiko, the 2 Hand Rolls &3 Proseccos. My bills in the Neighborhood for Similar Drinks and More Extensive Meals are Seldom more than $ 50 before Tip.

Most sushi restaurants today focus on serving what the market demands and completely leave behind the tradition and art that this amazing cuisine was built on. Here’s a place that knows exactly how to react when a customer says the words«Sushi Omakase». Chef immediately signaled to wait staff to remove the menu. Chef dedicated his full attention to just me for the duration of the meal. Only two questions from the chef and we were rolling: How many pieces? Any restrictions? Pace was perfect. Everything was traditional(Nothing was spicy, nothing was fried, nothing was over flavored). Delicate and beautiful meal served in a very traditional order covering pretty much all basis. As a self-proclaimed sushi connoisseur that has experienced amazing Sushi meals at many of the words best sushi spots(and many of Chicago’s), I’m confident in saying this is Chicago’s best.

I’ve walked past here numerous times and have always been intrigued. I was excited to finally have the opportunity to eat here during a trip to Chicago. I made reservations for myself and 3 others for dinner and was excited for the experience. Some of the the food was amazing, and the staff was attentive. But when 7 plates, that were ordered as a complete meal, end up on the table at the same time — for 3 people, there’s a problem. We ordered a number of soups and apps, chefs select rolls, cooked options, and specials. They all came out within 5 minutes of each other. I asked repeatedly for them to slow the service down, but it just kept coming. When the chef refuses to make a requested roll because it’s not«traditional Japanese» to have more than 1 protein in a roll, there’s more of a problem — especially when their special rolls violate that particular«rule». Walking out, we all remarked that it wasn’t anywhere near the quality that would allow a chef to have a «soup nazi» mentality. «No sushi for you!» I won’t be back.

One of the best sushi restaurants in Chicago! Went on a Tuesday and were able to get a seat at the sushi bar without reservations(there are only about 8 tables). Will definitely be back.

The restaurant is very small. You are in very close proximity to your neighbors. We had the spicy tuna roll, yellowtail scallion roll. and a tuna tuna salmon(chef’s special) roll. Really delicious.

Simply put, the best sushi we have ever had. We had the Miriai combo that had 3 different cuts of tuna, hamachi and madai white fish, and sale(salmon). The tuna was nothing short of amazing(all three; lean, medium fatty, and fatty). The white fish was firm, but delicate, and the salmon melted in our mouth. The down side is now my husband will have to take me to Chicago at least once a month to indulge in our new favorite sushi restaraunt!!!

Fantastic, tiny spot. Hirame Ponzu and Spicy Mono are not to be missed. Great minimalist Asian décor. Moderate to high prices, but the food is very well prepared and unique as compared to generic regional alternatives.

I cannot say enough about the quality of the sushi here. Amazing freshness and preparation which surpassed my experiences elsewhere in the country. The restaurant was busy but handled the traffic well and it is a great intimate place to dine; even alone it was relaxing and comfortable. The staff was fantastic and while they made an error on my order, it was handled with generosity but most importantly a sincere apology. I highly recommend this restaurant and will return!

We have stayed at the Hilton before and finally had the chance to come here for dinner. I was immediately impressed how nice this little place is. We were seated quickly and our server was fast and very helpful with suggestions on their specialties. We ordered some Sashimi and a couple of rolls along with some fried rice. I will say, everything was fantastic, very fresh and we cannot wait to return.

Went in for a late night snack aroun 9pm… grabbed the Mirai Combination which is a total of 6 pieces of Nigiri(sushi), also offered as 12 pieces of Sashimi for double the price. I don’t understand that pricing so I stuck with the Nigiri. The combo included a trio of increasingly fatty tunas, which justifies the price, along with 3 other pieces of the chefs choosing. Mine were Fluke, yellowtail, and salmon. Everything was excellent, especially the tunas, but thankfully I was only there for a late night snack as the bill would have been quite high if I needed to fill up for dinner. Quick tip… they offer hot sake in a kettle for ten bucks, which is by far the best value for alcohol. It’s off menu but just ask for it. And yes like other reviewers have said, this is a legit Japanese style sushi place, so don’t expect fancy rolls with sauce on them. So long as you don’t want that, Mirai is definitely worth a visit. Excellent service as well!

Where do I even begin?! Ohhh Mirai, you got it going on. Its a quaint space, with just a little over 20 seats. Both dining experiences have had almost maximum occupancy met, yet its not noisy etc… I consider this a huge bonus considering the space is small. I have had the same server both times, and while I never got his name, I can assure you you won’t be disappointed with the service. Everyone seems attentive, knowledgeable, and personable. Now on to the most important part… the SUSHI. AHHHMAZING. The Spicy Mono, the Nigiri Trio, and the Tuna Tuna Salmon taste too good to be true. Seriously.

Amazing sushi. My wife and I were visiting from Houston, and I am extremely impressed. It is a very small establishment, so you may want to get reservations in advance. The soft shell crab roll was the best I’ve ever had. And the Unagi Trio roll is simply amazing. Food, atmosphere, and service were all top notch. Will definitely visit again.

We stumbled upon this little gem and I have to admit this was the best sushi since I’ve lived in New York. My favorite dish was the Kimchee Beet and Anchovy Salad, which has an amazingly delicious vinaigrette with a taste of kimchi. The Hirams Ponzu was very fresh.

The food is fresh. So fresh that when I arrived at 7pm they had already run out of items. The portions are small. A little smaller then normal. My server was very knowledgeable and friendly. I tried 2 of their signature items. The octopus roll and the king crab. Both had plenty of flavor. Overall it was a good experience. I wish they pieces had been larger but over all I would go back. If you plan to sit at a table you NEED a reservation. It is really that small.

Do not go there if you want Americanized sushi. I have eaten at good sushi restaurants in Japan and they never serve those rolls that look like over-decorated cakes. If you want them, go somewhere else. If you want real sushi, Mirai Sushi is a place for you. We ordered Chef’s special. We got great sushi, simple and tasty. Chawanmushi was just as good as in Japan. The chef baked Anago(sea water eel) simply with just salt, instead of saturating it with sweet sauce, and it was so good. It was about 100 dollars for 2 people without ordering any alcohol drinks. I think this is very reasonable for what you get. The service was good when we went. We had no problem. P. S. I am OK with those Americanized sushi that look like over-decorated cakes. They have their own place in the culinary world. However, it makes me feel irritated when people speak of good authentic Japanese sushi as something inferior. They just do not know what the real sushi is like in Japan.

Everything here is absolutely sublime — some of the best sushi and sashimi in the city, and better than the other Mirai. The atmosphere is stylish yet cozy in a small intimate setting, the service is very good, incredibly comfortable seating. It is expensive, but you get extremely high-quality fish for the money.

This is one of my favorite places in Chicago. It is one block off the Miracle Mile, right next to the Hilton and Westin, is open till midnight, has exceptional food and a friendly staff… and most importantly… they are consistent. I travel to Chicago a lot on business, and even at 11pm after a day of flight delays, the food and service is outstanding. I definitely suggest for any sushi lover. On a side note, the sushi is so good, I have never used an ounce of soy or wasabi at this restaurant.

I have definitely has better sushi for better value in town. Smallest portion of sushi I have ever had. The unwelcoming service didn’t help the dining experience.

Not good at all. Small place where sushi was so so and the waitress was super annoying. Told me by ordering warm saki it was like a bud lite verse a Guinness. Not the best analogy, but I wanted warm saki. If it’s the house so be it, I know cold is supposed to be finer but I did not care. Also if you have a small setting that’s about the ambiance and the sushi bar i expect all the sushi staff to be Japanese.
