Midway Park Saver

That was a perfect review Buddy. The convenience of this lot is insane. Even on a freezing day it’s literally one street to cross and walk in the train entrance. It’s connected to the airport. I found Bob to be particularly pleasant. Follow the rules and you will have no issues. Don’t lose your ticket.

I use this lot every time I fly out of Midway and find it super convenient. It is a long lot that runs along the train tracks. They have a shuttle that loops around from the front to the back of the lot if you end up parking aways down. What I find so convenient is that it’s the only lot where you can just walk into the airport (except for the super expensive airport terminal lot). You are not forced to hop on a shuttle like other lots that are blocks away from the airport. To do this you briefly walk through the entrance to the CTA Orange Line and then down a few corridors. Once in the airport you are right by the security line. It is not a far walk but if you are traveling with someone who has a hard time moving or a ton of luggage I suggest you drop them off at the airport departures and then go park. This is what I do with my husband and young son and it works out great, I drop them and our luggage off and then go park. By the time I reach the airport, they have printed the boarding passes and checked any bags and we are all ready for security. The workers in the lot have that kind of protective uncle feel to them and they watch who comes and goes — I haven’t had any concerns about safety, even when I am alone. The lot always has an attendant there to check you out. Bob seems to always be there when I leave and is friendly. It’s nice to see a person rather than just a credit card machine like most lots nowadays! :-) Try it out, you will like the convenience.

What?! $ 7 is gouging? Get a grip and park in the city lot and you will learn what gouging is. I have parked here for years without any issues. Yes, be prepared for a five minute walk to the terminal, but you save around 50% compared to the City owned lots.
If you are expecting valet treatment or have never used a airport lot before maybe you do not know what to expect. Fact is they are convenient, inexpensive, and close to the airport. No waiting for a shuttle no hassles. The lot is very well lit and I have never had any issues

I am not sure why this place has all of these negative reviews — but I agree with Unilocal reviewer Ari N as well — be sure you know what to expect: 1) Drive in up to the ticket box, hit the button, and it spits out a ticket for you. 2) The parking lot is mainly two very long lanes with parking on both sides. Hunt around for a close parking space (if one is available) or park wherever. 3) There is a shuttle bus but it only takes you from your parking spot to the front of the lot — it does NOT take you to the airport. 3) The airport is right across the road — it does take a little walking to get to the ticket counter, but nothing that strenuous (and a little walking before a long flight sitting down the whole time is not such a bad thing) — my only serious complaint here is that the street between the parking lot and airport can be busy and there is no crosswalk. So you sort of rely on the mercy of the people driving by. 4) If you go to their website, you can make a reservation (no credit card/​payment needed) and get a discount ($ 12/​day instead of $ 13). But you HAVE to have your reservation printed out on paper to hand to the parking lot attendant on your way out in order to receive the discount. No arguing here — you HAVE to have it printed out. Period. 5) Service — I have always found the parking lot shuttle van driver to be attentive and on the look out for any travelers needing a ride to the front. I’ve even been on the shuttle when someone is just getting out of their car — and he’ll stop for a few minutes to wait on that person — so I think the service is very considerate. Then the parking lot attendant — he’s not the owner, he is there to collect payment and enforce whatever policies they have. So if your car breaks down and someone comes to give you a jump — they will have to pay to exit — no matter if they were only there for 10 minutes. You cannot expect the parking lot attendant to keep track of all the cars coming in and out and who should exit without paying and who shouldn’t. That’s expecting too much from a guy sitting in cold shabby booth. Give him a break.
Overall, I think this is the best option for parking at Midway on a budget. Plus, it’s not some remote lot out in Oak Forest or anything — it is literally across the road from the airport. So, it’s one of the cheapest places to park AND one of the closest parking lots to Midway.

Definitely not worth the couple bucks savings. No shuttle from the lot to the airport. They now no longer take larger vehicles (SUV’s). Poor service. Lot didn’t seem safe. You have to walk through the CTA station to get to the lot. Just park at the airport’s lot and save yourself the hassle.

It seems that a lot of people didn’t know what to expect and ended up having a bad experience. This parking lot is not for you if you can’t walk much or have a lot of luggage. The lot is long and narrow. The passage is a one way lane so you might get stuck behind a slowly moving shuttle or a broken down car.
But if you are traveling light, reach a little early for your flight, and can walk, this is the best parking option around Midway.

Overpriced! $ 7 just to park at midway?! Plenty of places in the city for $ 6 – 8 they gouge you here, men working it are clueless, broken down cars in pathway blocks everyone, the courtesy van that drives you back and forth-​the driver needs to look around before speeding off and needs to have people load going towards the front as he blocks all the drivers behind him that have to wait for him to move forward to park in a spot. Not worth the hassle and frustration. Park at Pulaski or in the city. Not much of a time or parksaver from my multiple experiences. Nothing but grief from this lot
Also forgot to add, my car had broken down one day and needed a jump. My brother had to come jump me. They wouldnt let him out without charging him $ 2! He simply came in to jump me for less than ten minutes. Their portable jumper apparently wasnt working or they were too lazy to retrieve/​charge it. Man driving the shuttle wouldnt jump me either. This place is an unprofessional joke

After a nightmare travel experience with my infant daughter I returned to my car at the Midway Park Saver lot to find the car battery dead. It was 1am, very very cold, icy, and we were parked very far from the entrance. After flagging down the lot van driver for help, he told me that giving people a jump was a liability and that he could not help me and that there was nothing he could do for me. I trudged back to the gate attendant with crying baby in arms, who told me he had jumper cables of his own, but again couldn’t help me. He also advised me to «get my baby somewhere warm,» but refused to help. I had no choice but to call AAA at 1:00AM, and wait inside the cta terminal for the hour it would take for them to arrive. When AAA came to my rescue, the gate attendant would not let them in without paying! He knew I had been waiting for the tow truck to provide a jump and the truck was clearly marked as an aaa tow truck but would not simply open the gate for them. Finally, after agreeing to pay for their parking fee he let them in. Ridiculous policy that a truck coming to give a jump cannot be allowed into the lot without a fee!
Parking lot was also not well cleared, very icy and slick, making the schlep to and from the attendant a real pain.
No compassion, aggravating, cold and icy experience at this lot. I will not be returning or doing business with people who refuse to help a mother traveling alone who is stranded in the night in a dark, iced over parking lot, and then also will not even allow assistance vehicles into the premises.

This is where you wish Unilocal would allow zero stars. There’s a shuttle and guy at the entrance telling you to park, but no sign or indication that that the shuttle won’t be taking you to the airport. I’ve been in almost every airport In the country and never been in a park and fly that doesn’t transport you to where you fly!
After walking with my 7 year old daughter and all our Christmas luggage to the gate, we were told we would have to walk to the airport. I told them she’d never make it and we would be returning at night, and offered to tip someone well to drive us over — but no. So we hauled all our stuff back to the car and re loaded, going to look for a different lot.
Upon trying to exit, the moron they have working the gate tells me I owe him $ 2 to get out. I was there for SEVEN MINUTES and had to lug five bags myself in two directions. Are you freaking kidding me? The moron then tells me this happens all the time — yeah I guess so! Quite a little scam they’ve got going on in there. My next note is to the BBB — my advice is don’t even pull in here to make a u-​turn.

I tried this service twice just to give it the benefit of doubt the first time I got overcharged the second time we wait there’s 4 of us waiting for a shuttle for 20 minutes and ended up walking all the way out to A 16 and the gate person couldn’t even provide information how to get ahold of the management other than an email address. I think there are alternatives out there that are much more consistent and better than this.

When they finally acknowledged one of my 3 emails 6 days later, they not only denied receiving any other emails or phone messages from me, they threw the ball into my court and told me to deal with the bank and credit card company since I was charged twice by them! It was their mistake not mine!!!
I will never use this parking system ever again!!! i will gladly pay more money at the garage on 55^th than have to deal with these a holes!
Good luck getting your money back when they charge you twice for one parking transaction! And you will have just as much fun trying to get a human to respond let alone call you back!

April 2015, Checking out a different airport lot/​service. First time leaving your car (my baby) in a strange lot is scary. The lighting appeared sufficient. Cashier was helpful as I asked how the operation worked. Basically, you drive your car up to the ticket machine, it spits out a ticket. The board lifts up. You proceed to find your own park spot, lock it and you walk to the airport. I noticed there was staff patrolling the area and cameras on the lot. That is reassuring. The price is reasonable. No shuttle service and thats fine as I have no issue with the short walk (in the summer) and saves me on tipping. Use your judgement/​instincts about picking your park spot. I am leaving my car again for a shorter trip so stay tuned for service updates. Updated 11÷6÷2015. So far my visits to Midway Park Saver have been with no issues and I am grateful. There is shuttle service now from your park spot to the front of the Midway Savers lot. This helps if you have lots of luggage. One other thing to add is to book your reservation online first, that way, if your plane gets delayed as you well know by now living in Chicago, can definitely happen! This way you get the reservation rate for additional hours or days your vehicle is at the lot. Also, the attendant mentioned, when its time to pay, I need to show my online reservation or have the reservation number handy to get the reservation rate. I had the reservation number handy. He handed me a small piece of paper. I completed it and he charged me the reservation rate. Had I not submitted that, I would have been charged more.

Midway Park Saver is a great way to get your own vehicle parked near the airport without costing a fortune per day.
I don’t recall the actual amount we paid per day but I do know that it was worth taking it there vs paying airport parking.
They have a shuttle that goes though the parking lot so if you time it right, you can park far away but still get a lift to the entrance.

Just last week I clicked to download the discount coupon. Tried twice and never got anything. Maybe they are not offering this anymore. Anyway, I took and old one I had saved and just edited the expiration date with Microsoft Word. Worked fine at checkout time.

This place is cheap with the online coupon, and is close proximity to walk to the transit station and to the airport.
However, the shuttle service here is spotty at best, so plan on walking. The lighting is poor, and the lot is not very secure with known car break-​ins. At night I do not feel that safe walking to my car from the airport.
One time I returned to my car to find my car battery completely dead. The shuttle bus would not help me jump my car, so I had to call a tow truck. This place CHARGED the tow truck for entrance to the lot in order to jump my car. The ownership of this place is extreme in their penny pinching.

Sexist. Degrading. Abusive. Male-​chauvinistic. Disgusting. Never utilize this pathetic excuse for a service if you have any respect towards woman.

The lot is decent because it offers competitive pricing. The only caveat is you have to walk across the street and it takes about a 7 minute walk to get to the airport terminal. It is no big deal if you have a small amount of luggage. But if you are loaded down, you will need a work around or should consider a different lot.
I was able to locate a coupon online that offered parking for $ 11 a day including taxes and fees. The only requirements are your departure and return date, name and email address. Once you submit the info, a coupon is emailed to you. This lot has more length than width and their shuttle service is within the lot itself. There are two lanes, one in each direction. The aisles are long and walking to or from your vehicle can be a brutal stroll if you missed the shuttle or not in operation.

I had been parking at Midway Park Saver for nearly 20 years. It used to be a cheap, secure lot. However, on my most recent voyage (escape) from Chicago, it proved to be anything but a relic of better times.
Typically, I park at MPS, cross 59^th Street, hop on a people mover, and make my way to Midway Airport. On this last trip, my flight left at about 9:30 AM. My return flight dropped me around 11:00 PM.
It was difficult to find a close spot in the morning as many people park here and then take the Orange Line downtown. Thus I ended up nearly ¾ of a mile from the front gate (59^th street). I had no fear though because the shuttle always picks me up and brings me the gate. Apparently that doesn’t happen anymore. I saw one shuttle and it never showed up. So I walked ¾ of a mile but whatever…
Six days later I arrived home. Surely the shuttle would be waiting and I would be whisked to the far southern reaches of the MPS lot to retrieve my vehicle. Nope. This time, none of the shuttles were in operation. WTF!!!
At least it wasn’t cold out but I still walked ¾ of a mile to get my vehicle and then drove to the gate to pay. The zombie like employee took my payment without uttering more than a word or two and heaven forbid a «thank you».
So what’s going on here? Is ownership cutting costs by not properly staffing the place and not paying for the shuttles to run? Probably. Well guess what? I’m done. I used to recommend MPS to everyone I know but now it will be quite the opposite. Skip this place. The quality has disappeared. I’ll give my cash to a more deserving business.

I have been a long-​time customer and recommended this place to everyone I know. I have convinced hundreds of people to park here. I take it back. Stay away! Stay far, far away!
Imagine my surprise when I returned from a 16-​day vacation to find a dent in the rear quarter panel of my car as well as a damaged bumper. What a rude awakening. When I proceeded to the exit, I asked to speak to a manager. There was none available. I was told there would be security footage, and I would have to call a manager during business hours Monday — Friday. I called and left a message the next day, and the next (since there was never a manager on duty when I called) at 773−582−2233. No return calls! What type of business doesn’t care enough to help a customer find a hit-​and-​run driver if they have security footage? At least don’t dodge my calls, at the very minimum you owe me a heartfelt apology that extensive damage was done to my car while in your care. Keep in mind that I have pearl paint, so this is an insanely expensive repair.
Three months have past. Complaints have been filed. NO RESPONSE from Midway Park Saver.

— One of the only airport parking facilities that I know of that doesn’t charge for a full day unless you’re there for 14 hours of more. Incremental pricing is hot!
— It’s one loooong, narrow parking lot, but there’s an in-​lot shuttle to whisk you to the front should you want the service. I like to walk, but that’s just me.
— Total walk time from front of lot to airline counters/​security: Less than 7 minutes.
True, taking the CTA to Midway will always be the cheapest route. But — when I have an 8am flight to LaGuardia, I WON’T be taking my crabby ass to the train at 5:45am. I was gone 3 days, paid $ 27 and was able to jump into my car at 10pm on Sunday night and make it home in 24 minutes.
