RUN FOREST!!! this was my last resort of a place!!! delayed flights at mid-​way so this was what I had left to pick from!!!

My husband was set to stay at Midway Inn with a sports team, and I came along for the weekend so we sprung for our own room. We arrived around 9 p.m. and were astonished at the disgusting conditions of this place. To give you an idea, there is a sign in the lobby that says you have 5 minutes in which to ask for a refund. Does that sound like a place confident in their amenities?
I’m far from a hotel snob, but when we arrived in this gritty part of town and walked into this dump, past the homeless man in the lobby alternately leering at me and falling asleep on a table, I told my husband I really wasn’t comfortable staying there and asked if we could leave before we even checked in. I used GPS to find the group of hotels closer to the airport that included some bigger-​name hotels, and we actually paid $ 180 for about 10 hours’ stay rather than stay at Midway Inn.
The next day we went to pick up some of the guys on the team (we had one of the only rental cars), and when we got to the hotel in the daylight I’ve got to say I felt completely confident in our decision to chunk almost 2 bills into another hotel! Even in the daylight this hotel is disgusting and creepy. The paint and décor is old and gross. The bathrooms are ancient and toilets sound weird when they flush. I was pregnant at the time and going to the bathroom all the time; whenever we went to the hotel I would hover over the toilet so I didn’t have to touch anything in the bathroom. The beds and linens looked dirty and old. Like I said, honestly, I’m not a hotel snob; I have stayed in some places that weren’t so great. But this place is absolutely unacceptable. Even the younger, rough-​and-​tumble guys on the team made fun of the horrible amenities. RUN, run FAR away from this horrible hotel. It is a nightmare.

I ordered a 2 night hotel stay online through Kayak at Midway Inn in good faith that the photos and hotel description represented the service/​goods to adequately accommodate a reasonable consumer’s stay at this motel aka «shithole». Upon arrival my mind goes back to the movie, «Revenge of the Nerds» with that dump of a hotel they stayed in. This place was eerily similar. The front desk and lobby area looked like a tornado had gone through and torn everything up in it’s path. At first sight of the room we noticed that there were 2 child-​size pillows and 1 hand towel to take a shower with so we requested we receive realistic items for the room. Upon further inspection, under the rough paper thin comforter was unmade, unclean unmatching bed sheets and no hot water in the bathroom, only cold. There was no coffee/​tea maker, no hair dryer, no phone in the room as described in the «overview» description.
Furthermore, the photos represented a clean, well maintained room. However, the security lock was unreliable; it would work and then not work as we were going to the front desk because there was no phone in the room to request items that should have already come standard, been provided. Luckily the front desk clerk was still on duty to redo the keycards 3 separate times, but still one key card would not work (in the hour we were there.) The room itself was unclean, dim lighting, roaches on the walls and mirror, big holes and gashes in the walls and furniture, filthy carpets, the air conditioner sounded like a freight train, no shower curtain. There was no housekeeping and maintenance of the room, it was a mess.
Kayak’s motel overview description is as follows: Midway Inn Chicago is located in Chicago, close to Marquette Park. Additional area points of interest include Toyota Park. Recreational amenities include a spa tub. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available in public areas. The hotel serves a complimentary breakfast. The property has a complimentary airport shuttle (available on request). Guest parking is complimentary. Additional property amenities include multilingual staff and laundry facilities. 69 air-​conditioned guestrooms at Midway Inn Chicago feature coffee/​tea makers and hair dryers. Bathrooms feature showers. Wireless Internet access is complimentary. Guestrooms offer phones with voice mail, as well as free local calls (restrictions may apply). Premium cable television is provided. Guests may request irons/​ironing boards and wake-​up calls. Housekeeping is available daily.
We were in the room for less than an hour, late at night, tired but decided quickly we need to find another place to stay. It is an unfair business practice to accept payment from me for a service/​good that was not provided. There was no way we could sleep or take a shower here with the lack of reasonable motel accommodations. I had health and safety concerns. A bullet could fly by our heads at any moment or we could catch a STD, neither of which sounded very restful or inviting. I felt like I was in some seedy movie and at any moment there would be a drug or prostitution bust. There was no sense of safety. At one point we had to laugh and crack jokes because it couldn’t get much worse. I’m glad I didn’t turn on the TV to find XXX movies as other reviews suggest. We didn’t depend on the non existent breakfast and shuttle bus, which by other reviews are more perks to this nightmare experience that were suppose to be included.
The motel was unresponsive to my complaint. I had to take further action to receive a refund. In reviewing online reviews on various Websites after the fact, it looks like I needed to do my homework a bit more as people had similar if not worse experiences here. Kayak should not be brokering this awful of a travel accommodation on their Website. I’m shocked.

This place is rated one-​star because it apparently cannot be rated zero-​stars.
Airport shuttle was unavailable because only one employee was working. Pretty sure people were living there. People passed out in chairs in the lobby watching boxing on tv and hanging out in the stairwells in pajamas. Things had visibly been ripped off the wall in the room; it might have, at one time, been a coat hook. You could look through the vent in the shower into the room next door. From the outside, you could tell half the motel was unoccupied from the stacked up furniture in each window. There is also a «discothèque» attached at the north end of the motel. I could not tell if the thumping bass that lasted until about 2 or 3 AM was from that or a room above me.
Avoid this place unless there is absolutely no other option.

STAY AWAY!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
This is absolutely the gold medal winner as the worst hotel ever. This place is barely suitable for the homeless. The beds look like Salvation Army drop offs and the rooms have a pungent odor that does not resemble cleanliness.
Although I was tired as hell and had already paid for a room, I looked at it for 20 seconds in disbelief and immediately returned the key. Saw a woman with her client as I was leaving. Didn’t even have the stomach to hang around and argue for my refund after being told that there are no refunds without manager approval. Had to call several times to finally get the money back.

This place is in dire need of renovation work since it stormed the other day since my boyfriend is staying here while he’s looking for an apartment and the side door in the lobby leaked in and got water all over the floor. They have WiFi, but it’s crappy I spent a half an hour trying to get on the internet and my boyfriend’s room was just a step around the corner from the front desk and the staff is not very helpful. My boyfriend tried to pay for his room using a credit card and they said they only accepted cash which really says a lot since they had the credit card sticker on the side of the wall next to the desk as to what they took-​clearly they serviced a specific clientele with the fact that they accepted only cash for payment on a room. They needed new couches because I sat down on the one nearest to the front door and damn near fell in and they were dirty and badly stained with what looked like water (from a ceiling leak) or coffee. They need to shut this place down and renovate the rooms to updated standards. Meaning new showers, toilets, sinks, and carpeting. They also need to repair and replace the televisions since most hotels I’ve gone to now have flatscreens and they have limited channels (some that didnt come in) and free porn (triple XXX rated) which is the first channel that comes up when you turn the television on and (which is unacceptable for those with children they don’t need to see this stuff) that they don’t bother having a filter to block this unless the person in the room is of legal age to watch this stuff. It’s bad enough that the hotel is not really clean and I am with all the other posters on here that if you’re looking for something quick and cheap come to this place because you get what you pay for. The stuff they use to wash their sheets with smells bad. The bathroom and bed area got cobwebs on the walls with spiders living in them. I’ve stayed/​visited better places than this not worth the money even for something quick and cheap. It’s best to go ahead and pay the extra money for a better room for a better deal. Don’t even bother staying here seems like the place is good for bringing hookers back there. It didnt look like they had a full house because a good percentage of the rooms were empty which said a lot. Hotels that are clean and provide good service will be booked heavily. Not to mention that when I opened the window in my boyfriend’s room you get the view of the alley in back of the hotel with a bullet hole in it. I think that if you’re wanting a cheap place to handle your buisness sexually this is the place to come since it’s cheap.

I would have to say this is the biggest dive I have ever stayed in, over priced and the place is very noisy. The hotel room was horrible the conditions are deplorable at best, the sheets didn’t fit the bed, there was mold in the bathroom, and the best was so old it felt like it was going go fall apart when you day on it. I wouldn’t suggest this to someone I didn’t care much for at all. The owner or manager was rude, they give you a key without a sleeve to let you know your room number, the parking lots a disaster need u say more, oh no face towels just a body towel and a smaller towel.

If you want to get STDs just by sleeping on the bed in this hotel, this is the place to be.
Well, I didn’t really get anything, but I got a whole lot of SMH /​?seriously? moments!!! What a dump! I agree with both Megan M. and Dr. K. This place is ABSOLUTELY horrendous!!!
Now where do I start…
When I called to see if I can do an early check-​in, the person who answered the phone seemed nice, he said we can even use the shuttle, all we need to do is call! Once we got there, the receptionist was quite friendly and we were indeed able to check in early. But this is where the pleasantness end! I must add the free wi-​fi was a suprise; however, having my bf’s netbook, he said he got a message from Facebook stating that someone tried to access his account! (No JOKE!) And everything went downhill from here on…
The rooms are absolutely filthy! Everything about it — the sheets, the comforter, the bathroom, EVERYTHING. I wished I packed a towel if I knew I’d be using a semi-​washed one provided by this hell-​hole. When we checked the shower, there were some blood stains in the tub. We then realized there was a leaking substance on the ceiling in the shower. It was a relief, but nasty, regardless.
Website says free breakfast — breakfast that included cereal! We skipped!
Early the next day, we needed to go to Midway to pick up a rental car! We approached the lobby area with three guys in their mid-​20s lounging on the sofas (at 6am)! One with his legs crossed with his crotch semi-​showing. Another SMH moment, I almost gagged.
We asked if the shuttle/​van can take us, they said «No, shuttle no available.» Really? The van was clearly parked in plain view. So we asked if they can all us a cab. They both looked at themselves, one literally LOL. My friend and I were both like huh? They said «No, you call yourself.» By this time I had «You a**hole» written all over my face. One semi-​nice dude pointed us to the phonebooth with taxi phone numbers on them. I couldn’t picked up my cell phone fast enough to get ourselves outta there!
I can go on and on about this place. But I must save my reviews for better, deserving places! Both graduate students, we didn’t want to spend a lot of money and rather spend the money to enjoy what Downtown Chicago has to offer. BIG MISTAKE! I will never ever stay in this side of town, let alone, in this nasty, infested place ever again!

Absolutely filthy. So bad, I wouldn’t even brush my teeth there, let alone shower. I got stuck here when a flight was diverted to Chicago and I needed a place to overnight. I slept in my clothes on top of the blankets (didn’t even dare to touch the comfortor). Woke up during the night to ants on the desk and tv stand.
I realize that if you are in a similar situation, the free transportation, cheap rate, and proximity to the Midway Airport may seem tempting, but don’t do it!
