Just happened upon this place while meeting up with a friend in Michael’s Pizzeria & Tavern for lunch. I am a chef, and I can tell you that their food is legit! I liked the crust and seasoning of the pizza, and the hot wings are crispy and well seasoned. The price is right too… no fufu overpricing. Great service, great food, great place to eat!

So, I have to admit that I’m rating this on food alone because I’ve never set foot inside the place. BUT, the guys at the end of our hall one day were getting off the elevator with a box of pizza from Michael’s and it smelled great. We asked them about it and they said it was the best pizza to have delivered in our area. Now, we are fond of certain places around here but we decided to give Michael’s a try. We ordered the Michael’s Special. Sausage, Mushroom, Green Pepper, and Onion. The cheese is great, the sauce has the perfect amount of spice, and the crust is nice and thin and crackly. We love this pizza and, bonus, it always comes with a small RC cola when delivered. And, we love the fact that they always tell us it will be there in an hour and usually comes in 30 minutes, once it came in 25. Order this pizza, you won’t regret it.

I’m eating the best spaghetti and meatballs I’ve ever had. I ordered the small and it’s plenty! And it comes with garlic bread. So glad I decided to try this place. Delicious. Don’t come here if you’re in a hurry. It’s not quick, but O it’s worth it!

First of all, they have some of the best pizza you will find in Chicago and the chicken tenders are Delicious. More importantly… I haven’t been feeling well and fainted in their pizzeria. On a busy Saturday night their staff stopped everything to make sure I was OK. When I came to, everyone that was sitting near me was there to make sure I was fine. Let’s you know what kind of people eat here. I can’t thank these folks enough for the great food and especially their kindness.

The only reason I am giving this 2 stars is because there is a discrepancy between what I paid and tipped and signed my receipt for($ 13.50) and what was charged to my bank account and is reflected in my bank statement($ 16.50). It could have been an error, and is only $ 3 but makes me uneasy about returning and annoyed enough to leave a review.

I’ve been going to Michael’s for pizza for the past 11 – 12 years. The pizza is off-the-chain fantastic! This is real Chicago pizza made with real cheese, handmade crust and just the right amount of sauce. And lets not forget the free liter of pop with each pizza for such a low price which is unheard of these days. The waitstaff provide friendly, prompt service even when the Cubs/Hawks/Bears are playing. We moved from the Buena Park area over a year ago and we still drive over to Michael’s for pizza. We really like Michael’s for thin crust delivery. The special with chicken, onion, mushroom, and green pepper is pretty great. Their sauce is on the sweeter side and they don’t use too much. I think they are a solid local delivery joint and we def will continue to order from them.

I don’t understand the glowing reviews of this restaurant. I ordered for the first time last night since I am new to the neighborhood. The sausage on the pizza was grizzly, knotty, bony, and I had to keep spitting it out. The next day, eating leftovers, I didn’t even want to touch the sausage. I called the restaurant, which would do nothing to rectify it. Bad food and bad customer service. Makes me appreciate GrubHub all the more. Great customer service if there’s ever a problem. This restaurant deserves no stars.

Went here on Valentine’s Day for some pizza and beer. The service was prompt and attentive. They seemed pretty busy but we were still able to get a table. Lots of tvs with sports playing. Our server was friendly and fast. We ordered tots with cheese on the side, a garden salad, and a medium pizza. The tots came without the cheese on the side but it was no big deal. They were fried well — although the the cheese tasted a bit weird. The texture was off. However, it didn’t stop me from eating them! The salad was just a classic garden salad. It was seemingly prepped that morning and fresh. The pizza tasted good, too. It was cut into squares. I felt the dough was lacking — it didn’t taste very seasoned at all — but the cheese and sauce tasted fine. Overall, it’s good if you’re in the area and want some pizza and beer but I probably won’t seek it out in the future.

I can’t base this review on the food but my(attempted) delivery experience was pretty poor. After checking their website for the delivery area, and verifying that I am indeed IN said area, I called to place an order. The gentleman that answered was pleasant enough but just could not seem to understand my address. He had a pretty heavy accent so I chalked it up to that. After repeating it 3 times and spelling the word«Dover» twice, he put me on hold. A woman picked up this time(slightly less heavy accent so I felt hopeful this time), asked me to repeat the address, which I did. She couldn’t understand me either and asked for me to spell it again… twice. She places me on hold and yet another man picks up. We go through this AGAIN. He places me on hold for a minute, picks up, then tells me they don’t deliver to my address. I said, «Are you sure? I am less than 5 minutes from you and your website says I am in range?» To this, he responded with«I dunno.» and hung up on me. It did sound a touch loud in there but seriously? I don’t have any kind of speech impediment or accent, and I didn’t have a mouthful of marbles. My advice to the managers; maybe think of installing a phone somewhere where these folks can hear or ask them to turn up their hearing aides.

Love that this bar is so close to home! Pizza is great and the wings and sandwiches are fantastic too. They have a pretty good sized menu which provides good options for everyone in your group. It get super busy on game nights so if your headed to watch the game on their selection of large TVs plan ahead and get there a little early. they allow dogs out on the patio in the warmer months and always have great service. Litterally everything you want out of a local corner bar and then some. love this place!

I was made aware of Michael’s from a buddy who lives in the neighborhood and frequents this establishment. When he checked in a couple weeks ago I was curious and pulled up the pictures on Unilocal. The food looked amazing and tonight the food tasted as good as it looked on Unilocal. The service was even better. I ordered chili to start as they indicate it is award-winning so, naturally, I had to get it. I thought it was fantastic. Then the buffalo wings were course #2. The sauce was delicious and the wings were substantial in size and cooked to perfection. Finally, I ordered a large, thin crust Michael’s Special(sausage, onion, green pepper, and mushroom.) The sauce was phenomenal and veggies were fresh. Overall, an amazing dining experience. A gem of a neighborhood tavern.

Hey did you guys change your sauce??? Used to be the perfect balance of sweet and savoury. Tonight it almost too sweet; it was almost sour! Hopefully it’s a one-time fluke– otherwise please consider going back to the old recipe!!! Normally I’d give 5⁄5! Interested in hearing from you guys. We love Michael’s and don’t want to lose the amazingness that you are!

Honestly my favorite bar in the city. Amazing food(pizza and wings are the best), very cool and nice staff, and very inexpensive. I almost never spend more than $ 20 despite drinking for hours here. Also the best place to watch a sports game. Tons of TVs and one really large projection TV with audio on.

Michael’s is a nice neighborhood spot in Buena Park. There are wall to wall TVs with every game on. The beer is cold, and the staff is very friendly and responsive. The food is decent. The pizza is probably the best thing on the menu. I go here often and I always have a nice time.

Michaels is one of our Sunday traditions — football, great food and inexpensive drinks($ 7.50 pitchers!). They have some of the best wait staff in Chicago — incredibly attentive and helpful without overwhelming. Everyone that works here is really nice and ensures you have a great time. The food is awesome and we can’t figure out how they keep their prices so low. If you ever want some great Pizza or sandwiches you have to check them out.

Great place for a bite! Especially if you want to watch sports — tons and tons of TVs surround this joint. We came here while waiting for laundry to finish at Super Coin one block away. So glad we did! It was nice to order a beer and some grub and relax instead of sweltering at the laundromat. The waiter even waved us off when we offered to leave a credit card behind to go switch our laundry from washer to dryer. He told us to just go! I got wings and a garden salad; the guy got the meatball sub and fries. Both were great — they only have one wing sauce(a house Buffalo) and MAN it was potent. My eyes watered at first smell. But it was totally delicious and just what I needed. The salad was super fresh, tons of veggies and a tangy French dressing. Only thing I was a little curious about was that they don’t offer wet naps for wing eaters. Merp. Thankfully a quick trip to the ladies’ sorted me. Food is great, service is great and it’s quick and cheap. Love it!

This place was recommended to me when I moved to Chicago, and now it’s become somewhat of an addiction. It’s a weekly struggle for me to NOT order pizza from this place. I don’t just crave pizza in general now, I crave their pizza specifically. I get the feeling they’re a very busy place, because every time I’ve ordered they’ve told me it’s at least an hour and fifteen minutes for delivery. So I would definitely suggest ordering BEFORE the«hangry» stage hits you. All their pizzas come with a free liter of soda, which is awesome. And while the delivery time tends to take a while, they’ve always arrived within the estimated time. Overall, it’s great food, cheap, and I’d recommend them to everyone.

BBB: Big Bang for your Buck kinda restaurant. They are a welcoming local establishment, if you come more than once they really make a concerted effort to get to know you. Their prices are so reasonable you can eat and drink there on the cheap. Sandwiches without a side are under $ 5. Tons of TV’s all over the place with every kind of sporting event playing. They even have nice outdoor seating for those beautiful summer/end of spring/beginning of fall days. Great place for families as well as singles.

I got here often. Almost way too much. To start, one thing that can be inconsistent is their service. I usually feel like we have to shoot off flares to get the attention of our waiter, whether for water or a pitcher of beer(which is $ 9, side note. STEAL!), but fortunately the 30 or so TVs all over the wall make for somewhat of a distraction. What they do always get right is their food. I am a sucker for their stuffed pizza and their wings, when done extra crispy and drip with buffalo sauce, are top notch. And while I 100% do not believe they have the best pizza in Chicago I 1000% enjoy everything I’ve ever ordered off their menu. Totally consistent goodness. Plus, it’s super cheap. And they have specials. AWESOME specials. You have to actually try to spend more than $ 15-$ 20 on food. And you’ll always have leftovers. Stop in!

So it is not the best pizza I have ever had and it is certainly not the worst. But, I would not be inclined to order a small 12 inch extra thin crispy Michael’s pizza for $ 16 any time soon. The place appears to be more of a bar. You can watch games or enjoy a drink outdoor on a nice day. Their daily food specials appear geared to provide a decent meal to local residents without breaking the bank. The drink specials are a domestic beer lovers dream. Pitchers are cheap and featured weekly and offered all the time to social clubs or groups. A decent place to meet with friends for a drink after a nice run, adult recreational game or to watch the playoffs. Suspect the food tastes better when drinking. When sober, it’s less than appealing.

Had a pizza party at Michael’s this past weekend. It was good. The pizza has a good flavor to it. I think it’s the sauce. Robust. If only the crust had been crispier, the pizza would’ve been perfect. Unfortunately, the service wasn’t great. Very slow. We found ourselves walking over to the bar multiple times to order, to get the check, etc. Seemed like they weren’t interested in serving our table. IDK, maybe they were understaffed that day. Since the pizza was so good, I’d be willing to give Michael’s another shot and maybe request the pizza well-done next time.

My new favorite local pizza delivery place. Decided to try this place last night as I was disappointed in my delivery from D’Agostino’s a month ago. Called and whoever answered the phone was seriously confused, it took five minutes to explain to him I wanted a large half sausage/half pineapple and Canadian bacon for delivery. When I hung up I was still unsure what would arrive at my door. Delivery came about an hour later, which was the estimate they gave me. Asked for a side of ranch and a liter of soda as well. Pizza was great. Got the regular thin crust, and not the super thin crust. Plenty of cheese, great sauce. Their sauce kind of reminded me of the sweeter sauce that Aurelio’s pizza uses. Sausage was excellent, I like it when it is crumbled up into small pieces, versus having sausage sliced and fanned across the top of the pizza, which some places do. Price was reasonable, great portions on the cheese and sauce, as well as the toppings. Will definitely be ordering again soon for delivery, and stopping in hopefully soon as well to eat in at their restaurant.

Michael’s is a solid neighborhood joint to grab a beer, some pizza and/or watch a game. There’s nothing fancy about the place, but they do have good food and plenty of TVs w the sports packages, some dart and golf games, and board games. The pizza is good, and the few other non-pizza items I’ve had such as the gyros, appetizers, etc have all been on par too. The pricing here can’t be beat — super cheap and good for groups/sports teams as they serve pitchers of beer too. The service can be a little slow at times, as they usually only have a few people working who take a team/shared approach while also working behind the bar, too. They have a patio with some outdoor seating too, however its pretty small and narrow on the sidewalks.

This is a review for pick-up. A friend raved about this spot. I was skeptical. I’m really more of a deep dish girl, but the friends we’re feelin thin crust. We ordered mike’s special pizza in a large. It comes with sausage, mushrooms, green peppers, and onions(the onions we subbed for ghardiniera). One small girl, two typical guys. We devoured. Everything from crust to cheese to sauce to toppings was perfection. Good sized chops to the toppings; a topping in every bite. The cheese was on-point; not glue-like. Even the sauce had a taste and was plentiful. Two thumbs up! Definitely sets the bar for my new standard on thin crust pizza.
