Michael J. Petro

Michael has been doing this for over 20 years. I contacted him after getting thrown into jail and assaulted by the police over a crime they knew I didn’t commit but was a way for them to look good, close a case, and spend some time off the beat for an evening at my expense (I don’t link to other reviews, but I will say I did review the jail I spent an evening in).
When I first met him I knew I was in the right place; he had a Ramones flyer on his door. We talked about music way back in the day and then got down to business.
He told me that in his time he has become a human lie detector and that he believed me.
My first court date was awesome.
I approach the bench and the judge is all «Hey hey, Mikey! My favorite defense (attorney). How ya doin?». At this point I looked over at the arresting officer and gave him a sort of «ohhh snap what up now homie?» sort of look.
After the first court appearance, he dropped me off at the nearest CTA — he was going the completely opposite direction and offered to take me all the way to the loop but I didn’t want to put him miles off course.
I had a second trial only because the city didn’t follow the state in dropping the charges. The second court date resulted in the arresting officer failing to appear, Mikey shaking my hand and wishing me luck, and myself heading off for victory beers.
The quoted price was for one trial but he did not charge me for the second appearance. Mega score.
For a well seasoned and experienced attorney, his rates are comparable and worth it. If you are ever falsely and unjustly abused or arrested by the police do not get a public defender. Give Mr. Petro a call and pray to whatever religious deity it is that you may worship that he is available and will take your case.
