I’d highly recommend Mark and MG Door Installations! After meeting with several other door install companies, I chose MG because of their straight-​forward approach and reasonable price. Mark was prompt in returning my calls and thoroughly answered all of my questions. The install was done efficiently and the work area cleaned up completely! I need another door replaced and will certainly call Mark at MG Door Installations for the job!

Mark at MG Door Installations did a great job installing my Anderson Storm Door.
I called several other door install companies in the Chicago area as well as some handyman types. Mark’s price was very competitive with the 3 other phone quotes I received.
On the install day he was prompt, efficient, as well as provided service with a smile. He talked to me about the door, explained its features, and also provided the information on how to get it re-​keyed to match the rest of my exterior doors.
At the end of the day Mark exceeded my expectations. I would call him again and recommend him to my friends and family.

MG Door Installations is the way to go. Mark replaced my front and back screen doors. He took off the old doors, replaced the door trim (caulking and painting) and he even replaced my door bells for no charge. The doors looked great and no mess! He was very easy to work with. It’s evident he knows what he is doing and that he cares about what he does.

Mark responded quickly to the initial call and expertly fixed my side door which was impossible to open.
It had been installed improperly by my home’s previous owner and part of the lock hardware needed to be replaced.
The job was completed efficiently and the cost was reasonable.

This was an amazing service. I called and Mark promptly called back and set and appt. He walked me through the process and made sure to answer all my questions. On the day of the installation he stayed in contact and installed the door perfectly. He also fixed my door jamb which was wobbly. Great guy, Great Service.

Mr. Gilbertson was recommended by my sister, he installed doors for her about four years ago. My husband and I found Mark to be very professional, and honest man who does great work. We had two entry doors and two storm doors installed, extremely happy with the work. We wanted to install one additional door in the back porch, but he couldn’t do it and explained why. He could have easily installed the door and taken the money, but didn’t. Once the problem preventing the installation of the new porch door has been corrected I will immediately contact Mark. Another thing about Mark is that he explains everything he’s doing, will answer all your questions, reasonable price, detailed receipt, top that off with a great personality!

Mark is a master craftsman. The door looks awesome and opens and closes better than most doors ive come across. You dont really notice it until you come across someone who really cares about what he does and how his work is done. We really couldnt be happier with the work done. The price was fair especially considering how much work he had to do to get the door in its final form. A true professional.
The original door we had didnt close or lock properly mon. Called a few places and got random prices. Looked up mark and called him. He actually showed up same day and and gave me a detailed invoice. I didnt expect him to help us out with the lock and get it to actually work for the night. I decided to hire him for the job right on the spot for going above and beyond what was expected.

My three star rating is the product of both a great experience and a bad experience with Mark at MG Door Installation and below I will include both good/​bad for your review.
About a week ago, we used mark to replace a broken bedroom door in a single family house we are renting in lakeview. Although his quote was not the lowest, we still used him because he seemed knowledgable, polite and able to complete the repair in our ideal timeframe — which he did! We have no complaints about this experience at all because he did a great job and that’s why he decided to call him back the following week with another job at the condo we own by Loyola university.
We were looking to put in an interior door by the office area which had been removed prior to us owning it and we were set to meet for an estimate this morning. I had explained to him that parking is difficult in that area at the time I set the appointment so I do not feel like I wasn’t up front about that detail. The morning of our appointment he called an hour and a half before our set time and asked if we could meet earlier which I agreed to but it takes about 20 – 30 minutes for me to drive there.
On my drive over with a sick toddler in tow, he calls and says I will have to find someone else to do the job because parking is too difficult?! To say I was upset would an understatement. I told him that finding parking is challenge for everyone in the city and I thought it was very unprofessional for him to call me while I’m driving over ahead of schedule to meet him. He told me he could wait there for me to arrive but I told him it was fine I could find someone else for the job. Why would I still want waste more time meeting with someone who may or may not want the job or show up because parking is too hard?
I’m not giving a lower rating because mark did a great job on the door he did hang for us but I cannot ignore how unprofessional it is to back out of an appointment simply because you don’t want to look for parking?! We had another job ourselves (three total) and someone we knew who would need to replace 3 – 4 doors as well but I can’t in good faith provide a reference for someone who I do not feel like is reliable working in the city unless parking is provided.

We went with Mark Gilbertson Door Installation and he was fantastic!
He did a superb job installing front and back storm doors today, they now close and LOCK beautifully, for the first time in 16 years. Even though our house is old and the frame was damaged by previous owners, Mark had no problem getting these in, they self-​close like a dream.
His price was so reasonable, and the whole process was so smooth. And he’s so nice. Left the front and back door areas cleaner than when he got there.
He even went to the extra trouble, at no extra expense, to fix the main door (not a door that he was hired to install!) when he noticed that it wasn’t closing and engaging properly. Talk about top-​notch service!

I can’t say enough about MARK GILBERTSON DOOR INSTALLATIONS (847−963−8482). A few years back he installed our back door and screen door and basement door and screen door (all the hardware, locks and threw in a new doorbell for me). Anytime I need an adjustment on the swing (or, like today, replacement of the rubber strip that ripped off in the winter by ice buildup on my concrete threshold), he comes on out, ON TIME, and fixes it for free (or today just charged me for the weather strip because he was already in the area for another appointment). Mark’s a great communicator (calls you back right away) and does all his own work (no subcontracting)…a one man show with a lot of expertise.
