We came here because Yolk was a madhouse. We should have questioned why a restaurant would have empty tables when it is right next door to one that is so busy. I feel bad leaving a review, not having tried the food, but we honestly tried to eat here. After waiting for over 10 minutes to be seated in a restaurant with plenty of empty tables, with only 1 couple in line ahead of us, we then sat at the table waiting for over 15 minutes to even get a glass of water. Not once after being seated did anyone come to our table, even though the tables on each side of us and across the way from us had servers attending them. Each of those tables had a different server, so we didn’t know who was supposed to be our server and no one came close enough for us to ask for assistance. If I have to get up from my table to find someone to get me a glass of water or take my order, I might as well get up to leave. So that’s what we did. Ended up going back to Yolk and waiting in the long line, but it ended up being well worth the wait and no wait for service once we were seated.

This was a terrible experience lol. This restaurant was in our hotel. my bf and i decided to grab a drink while everyone napped. We originally wanted a captain and coke but they didnt have captain. Then we ordered a vodka and OJ but they only had one shot of vodka left. Finally i decided i didnt want anything and my bf went with a shot of patron and a side of sprite to chase it with. The sprite ended up being seltzer water(eww). Not only that but the shot was $ 12(fine) and the petty side of seltzer water that was supposed to be sprite was $ 3. what? The worst was the end. I guess they dont have a card machine and instead use the old school way of writing down your card number on paper and you signing it. We tipped her and signed the slip and flipped it over. She chased us down asking where the slip was. I explained i flipped it over so everyone at the bar didnt have a clear view of our card number. hot mess all around. just avoid even if you are staying at the hotel. It looked like a buffet but no food was out at 4pm. Weird experience all around.

Breakfast was a satisfying and an easy option this winter morning since we stayed in Best Western in the same building. I don’t think I’d come here if I had choice.

We came here on Christmas day craving some good Chinese food and wow did we find some. We started with the crab rangoon which was delicious anf made with real crab. For dinner he had the roasted duck and pork combo plate served with baby bok choy and rice. I had the noodle bowl in a beef broth with roasted pork. bok choy… mushrooms etc. Serious deliciousness. We ordered a bottle of sake and he brought it out in 4 increments as to keep it warm for us. Service was spectacular as well. A definite recommend

Same as many folks, we were planning on going to the Yolk and didn’t want the wait! Should have waited. The hash browns were the deep fried pre-made triangles. The old grease made them inedible. Eggs were overcooked and under cooked. Really should have kept walking.

This place was terrible. I still have no idea who our waiter was supposed to be. The girl who waited on us actually said that she wasn’t our server but she would take our order because she had nothing else to do. Food was ok, nothing special. We had to get our own coffee refills. And then they forgot to give our credit card back and we had to return later to get it from them.

Came here after finding out Yolk had a 45 minute wait. We had limited time, and eggs are eggs, so we came across Mei’s after walking down the street searching for alternatives. Waited 20 minutes before anyone came over to even give us some water. Ordered a breakfast sandwich, and yogurt with fruit, which we were charged differently than on the menu, but we didn’t have time to argue the $ 1 difference. But the principle of it! You’ll get a decent selection of breakfast/brunch items but this is more of a restaurant that serves brunch and not a brunch place.

We came here because, like many people probably, Yolk was too long of a line. I don’t necessarily regret going here, but I’ll definitely just do the wait at Yolk next time. Pros: no wait(which could also be considered a con) Biscuits and gravy were good, but you can’t really mess that up. The waffles were pretty good. But it comes pre-syruped Cons: there were not that many people in the restaurant but it took forever to get our food. The omelette didn’t have its ingredients mixed in… they just threw it in the middle of a flat egg thing. The steak biscuit was absolutely horrible. I went with like 6 people, that’s why I had such a wide variety of food.

If you’re looking for a quick breakfast/brunch — this is not the spot. The 1 star is for the staff, the one gentleman who greeted me tried to do his best — explain the options, follow-up on the details of the order, but that was about it. I ordered the Florentine Benedict which came out over cooked — and no server to follow-up with was to be found. It was pretty cheap food, so I thought I wasn’t expecting 5-star quality, but this could have been significantly better. I never saw my server again. Another person dropped off the bill, but never returned to pick it up. I took the bill to the counter to pay causing the wait staff to get into an argument about who can run tickets. I was just looking for a low-key, good quality brunch on my first day in Chicago. Sadly, this was not the place.

Showed up half an hour before noon on a Saturday to discover the kitchen was closed. The buffet, we were told, was still open. Wound up paying $ 13 a plate for soggy waffles, runny and flavorless eggs, and the cheapest, greasiest, most inedible sausage in all of Chicago. Even if your meal is free with your hotel room, it isn’t worth your time(or the arterial plaque you’ll acquire) to eat here. Also, shame on Unilocal for hiding so many negative reviews under a «not recomended» tab. When a restaurant is so bad it inspires dozens of people to create accounts just to complain about it, you do a great disservice to the community by burying that data.

We stopped in here due to the insane wait time at Yolk next door. The food was ok, at best. We were so hungry though so, it didn’t really matter.

I love the cheese pizza here. Hear me out. we actually go here instead of Giordanos because we like the pizza just as much and don’t have to wait an hour for it to come out. The food is decent quality at the very least and actually quite enjoyable. I think the only thing I’d improve is to change the black awning outside to accurately reflect what the place really is inside. We live close by and its our hidden gem for sure. Don’t judge a book by its cover.

If you cant get in Yolk, this is 5steps away from it without the wait. You’d have to wait and holler hard for someone to take your order and give you water. Once they do, theyre on the roll with the bomb dot com coffee since they serve the italian coffee! Im not picky with food, its nothing extravagant, but its breakfast and i love breakfast!

We looked up the menu online and looked interested in the items listed. Outside the awning says«authentic Asian cuisine.» The logo has some sort of Asian language character on it. We went and sat down. We were the only ones in there. We sat down and looked at the menu and it was entirely different. No Asian cuisine whatsoever. As we were leaving the waiter came and said very nicely«let me guess, you were looking for Chinese food. I had the same thing happen to me thirty minutes ago. I wish I had something to do with correcting the website. Its completely inexcusable. Come back if you want some good american bistro food.» At least they were nice about it. We didn’t eat here.

Pathetic. Got Lemon Chicken. It literally had 2 cubes of chickens a piece of lettuce and a slice of lemon. The whole thing must have weighed less than 2 ounces. I paid ~ $ 14 for that. And did I mention the food was in a box and cold? If you go there to eat, you’re stupid.

Stopped in here since it was the closest place to the train station after the Bears game. We just had some beer and pot stickers, nothing to write home about since we were just waiting for the train and trying to stay warm.

Much like most of the other reviewers we came to this place because the wait for yolk was too long. However, unlike the rest of the reviews we were completely satisfied with everything. The waitress was attentive and we waited about 10 min if that for our food. Our food was great as there was no complaints from anybody at our table. Our meal was about 10 bucks which is most definitely reasonable. I feel that this place got bad reviews because people were angry about not being to eat at yolk, which is unfair to this place. Next time I am in Chicago I will definitely be coming back to meis kitchen for breakfast.

I just left Mei’s Kitchen restaurant after being seated and ignored for 10 minutes. I kid you not, there were more employees than customers, and no one came to my table. A waiter walked by me three times and didnt even look at me, acknowledge me or anything. I am a 45 year old male professional. I was on my iPad while I was waiting. Skip this place… Plus it’s menu is bizarre… From potstickers, chicken tenders, pizza and burgers. Why did I go in in the first place!??

I really wish I could like this place especially since it is so convenient BUT I just can’t. I came here for breakfast awhile back and I was so disgusted that I swear I will never return. The food looked okay and presentable… but nothing special… but the service was something indescribable. The wait was about 15 minutes even though there were only a few people in front of me and they were surprisingly not busy for the time. Once we were seated, we went to the buffet to check out the buffet menu and their literally was nothing left… they said they would be refilling it but the point of a buffet is to get it right away so we decided to just order. We watched who seemed to be the owner run around and take food to tables, and it is very embarrassing, but the owner was sweating an uncontrollable amount. So much that I was so grossed out I asked our waitress to please be sure to bring us our food and not have him serve it because I wouldn’t eat it. I explained why– he was literally dripping and I am not even joking– dripping sweat in the food. To say the least when we finally got our food 50MINUTESLATER I had no appetite left and was turned off by the place I will never return.
