Second time I used them. Reasonable for the amount of work done. Professional and nice to work with too.

These guys are outstanding! Took down old Spruce tree and transformed our back yard. All at the best price of my 3 estimates! Clean up was also terrific.

Dennis responded quickly, came over several times to look at the job, gave me a competitive estimate for cutting down 2 trees in my back yard, had his crew here on time and did the job in a timely manner, did a great job with clean up.

Ken and his crew did a fantastic job with our trees. We have been on the city tree trimming list for 3+ years. McKay obtained a permit, trimmed the tree, cut down two dead trees, and trimmed our ridiculously gigantic mulberry tree. The work was done in a reasonable amount of time, the clean up was outstanding (important because they were working in our neighbors’ yards, too). Their price was fair and now we do not have to worry about the parkway tree breaking through a window during a bad storm.

These guys provided a very reasonable price. They were timely and did a nice job chopping down a large ash tree and trimming many branches away from our 2 story condo. They were very friendly and did some extra trimming for free even though the price was very reasonable to begin with.

I needed to trim 3 different trees from my two neighbors’ backyards that were covering mine. I got from Mc Kay the lowest of 3 estimates; beating the next one by 20%. Even though they took almost three weeks before they could schedule the job, and I had to follow up a couple of times to get my job scheduled, once they did they came on time with a 5 people crew. They did a wonderful job of cutting the trees and cleaning everything up. I was totally pleased with their service

I had a very good experience with these guys. Dennis was very professional and was competitive in his bidding. He was right in the middle on the bids but did a great job.
They came when they said they would and brought a team of five to my job. This was a tough tree removal because it was a large tree very close to the house with limited space to drop branches. His crew was spot on for making sure nothing got damaged and did an awesome job. They were like worker ants and never took a break. They cored out the stump and left the workplace very clean. They hauled away all the debris.
I have no problem recommending these guys as they do what they say and are on time.

They quoted us a terrific price, came out and cut down the tree. It went great until Ken said his brother way under-​quoted the job. It only took them 2 hours and they charge $ 690! that is a great profit! then he said he couldn’t grind out the stump because he had to go to the next job. I was ready to give him the check that day but he rushed off. When he came back the next day, he did not clean up the debris like the day before and he again complained about his brother Dennis underbidding the job. You never admit that to the client. Not professional but a good price.

McKay service is just average. If their pricing was any higher, I’d give them one star. Apparently they do a lot of city work, which may provide some insight into my experience.
I hired them to cut back two of my neighbor’s trees, which in itself can be a touchy matter. Yes, I do have every right to cut to the property line without killing the tree, but these guys don’t have to listen to her the day after… and the day after that…
While I was occupied with instructions on cutting back a 50ft horse chestnut tree, they severely pruned a magnolia tree by hand on the other side of the property without my knowledge. Yes, this was part of the work order, but had I been privy to the timing they wouldn’t have overshot the property line by 3 feet (!) Moreover, they badly stripped the bark on each cut which made *clean up* cuts impossible. Anyone who knows how to prune limbs should know the two-​cut method, especially with a pole saw. Geesh.
To make matters worse, the foreman (Dennis’ brother) complained incessantly to me about the weather and getting to the next job. He aimed a chainsaw at my face (only HALF jokingly) when I complained about the magnolia tree. He knew I was right but couldn’t bring himself to admit it. Now that’s service !
My advice is if you aren’t really concerned about maintenance beyond grunt work, these guys are fine. If you’re looking for anyone slightly resembling an arborist, look elsewhere.

McKay Tree Service recently came and did an excellent job at my house, including both tree removal and tree trimming. The estimator Dennis was helpful, easy to reach via phone and provided a reasonable, competitive quote. Scheduling was flexible and painless. A team of 4 people showed up on time with owner Ken — all professional and nice. The job was completed within the time expected and their clean-​up afterwards was impeccable. I would use McKay Tree Service again and would recommend it to others.
