Magos Tacos y Tamales

Deep fried tamales… Did you see what I just wrote? DEEP FU!#ING FRIED TAMALES!!! First time I’ve ever had something so succulent and delicious that I was taken back to my childhood days when I first remember trying the tamales for the first time. The setting is in LA 1990, 12 year old me who is FOB (Fresh off Boeing) in Ktown LA with my cousins driving around and seeing the LA. We stop at a small stand and they order some tamales, and them bastards gave me a jalapeño one. Shit was on fire son! But it was so good. The meat, masa and jalapenos were singing in harmony.
But yeah, it took me back. And they open at 430am so I can actually swing by before coming to work. Great selections on tamales. HIJO DE LA CHINGADA! This place is great man. Once you try the deep fried tamales, you will never look at the tamales the same way ever again. Apparently, they used to deliver to my work place but they got into an argument with the security and they no longer deliver. BOOOOOO!!!

This place i came to is on diversey and laramie my husband were hungry and it was past 9:30 most places were closing we were heading to taco burrito king but this was en route and i really didnt want to come because before that place was dingy and dirty looking taco place i think it was las asadas before. Idk but we stopped and when i walked in place was totally diff nice remodeling job! Clean! Waitress as great and food was good ! We had taco and sope gordita dinner, place closes at 11pm and the agua de jicama was good, flan was ok but overall great joint! I be back!

I constantly see inferior or fake food ingredients shoved into recipes and served to the unknowing public. The restaurant misrepresents them, and we the consumers, get stuck with garbage. so read this:
This is a place that up charges for what the staff at the counter says is «crema» a Mexican cultured sour cream, and on my tacos I got some manufactured garbage that glistened like translucent white motor oil on my food.
I inquired in Spanish as to if it was REAL authentic crema, the server replied «yes»
Still disbelieving what my senses told me was trash, I asked her I to see what container it comes in, and to bring me the container so I can see for myself before I pay my tab. The lid from a container that she appeared with at my table side was something that even a homeless person would discard: filthy and unfit for touching anything food related. It was like a bad joke from Married with Children! — seriously!
I said that wasn’t it, and she sauntered off and reappeared with a label torn off a container that said: «Salad Dressing!» this product is Clearly Not Crema!!!
I was so freaking pissed off when I read the ingredients: soybean and/​or Palm oil and about 25 other ingredients all man made garbage plus titanium dioxide to make it whiter than me. Why did you charge me extra for this swill on my taco that was now ruined! Absolutely atrocious!
They then handed me and my friend a bill in which they padded an extra 2.00 for something we never bought! And this was after the server dropped a piece of torn memo pad paper on the table telling us that was the total!!!
I don’t know when restaurants stopped using guest checks, but my friend demanded a real receipt with itemized purchases do we could hold them accountable for not screwing with us!
So we paid the new lesser tally and left thoroughly disgusted, and NO tip for being shady and dishonest.
All I could say was: «What is this crap?»
and why did you lie to us multiple times?
We will NEVER go back here.

This is a whole in your wall little Mexican restaurant located in a plaza. Nothing fancy by any means. So I walked in and ordered a tamale of cheese and poblano pepper and a steak taco. Omg! It was disgusting! The taco had an unpleasant smell like the lard it was fried in was old (plus frying in lard is Ewww). The tamale was small and not that great tasting. Sadly, I will never be back here. Thank goodness there’s a subway a couple doors down from this establishment.
