This place is amazing. First, and foremost, I love that I can shop and taste with my pup. The selection is awesome and prices are super reasonable. Everyone is very knowledgable, hospitable and accommodating (when I forget my wallet at home). This place is a neighborhood staple for us and a West Loop gem.

Very helpful and kind staff/​owners. I love that they have photos of their customers dogs all over. Good selection of wine and beer. I always leave with something new to try.

This is my favorite wine shop. Period.
They have wine tastings every Thursday with live music, and an eclectic selection of wines. But the thing that makes them a 5 star place? It’s the people. The owners are absolutely charming. So while sometimes I am just there to get my usual sparkling rosé, there are other times that I have a specific need. Their recommendations have always been on point, and they are always happy to give you a taste if you’d like one. Now that’s my kind of place.

The owners are lovely. They recommended a nice pinot noir, which was excellent. Great selection of wine. Some great beers too. Pets welcome and likely to be treated to snack!

I dont go anymore, I don’t. And I have to be honest. I liked it, I really liked it. Read my review. I was at every Thursday for months, literally months…
But here are the changes that I don’t like. It no longer feels like it did. The Thursday night events are less quaint and neighborhoody. The reccomendations for wine simply don’t come like they did. I come in asking for «what with sushi,» or «what with pizza,» or «what with popcorn to easily guzzle and drown my workday away?” — the suggestions are weak at best– «maybe a light red or white?» Not like what I used to get. An exact bottle, a specifiv The prior owners were great at small talk. Nick was simply the best thing this place had going for it.
Now I go in. It is a shell of its former self trying to gain an identity– bummer.

My husband and I have stopped in now and then for a bottle or a Thursday wine tasting for 2 years. Though we really loved the previous owners, we really like the new ones too. My husband enjoys talking to them so much that he recently made us quite late for an event last weekend :-). I’ve asked for a couple of wine suggestions recently and have been very happy with the results. Also the Thursday wine tasting is as nice as it always was and we enjoy meeting our neighbors (and their dogs!). We’re looking forward to attending more tastings and events to come.

Great prices on fine wines. Don’t miss their outdoor space in the back of the property. Helloooo summer! Good spot for a date or girls’ night.

My absolute favorite wine shop in the city! The new owners are so personable and knowledgable about wine and beer. They have a wide variety of wines from all over the world, and I’d say 50% of them cost less than $ 30 a bottle! You have to check out this place on a Thursday between 6 – 8 pm– they have a dog friendly wine tasting event that’s really fun.

Love this place! Any place that offers free beer tastings with food on Wednesday evenings and free wine tastings on Thursday nights is a winner.
Their selection is decent. They feature a ton brews and wines, any of which are locally or regionally made. I haven’t tried anything super high end here, nor have I been offered it, but it’s a great spot for the West Loop community.
The staff are always friendly. One time I bought a moscato for a bday celebration, and they chilled it for me right there on the spot. It was ready to go in 5 – 10 minutes!

Alright. I’m going to say it. This place just isn’t the same since Sam, Gail and Nick left.
This used to be a weekly, 5-​star stop for me. I enjoyed coming in to pick up a few bottles for the week, and could be found at the Thursday night tastings trying out something new.
But after my last visit… more than a month ago… I haven’t been back.
I don’t want to see the staff roaming around barefoot. I don’t want to have the entire wine store smell like the Chipotle that the staff is wolfing at the counter. I don’t want to have to beg the staff to stop watching TV long enough to give me a wine recommendation. (And it’s not like I was in there during a Hawks game. It was Wheel of Fortune, friends.) But mostly, I want a staff that knows something about wine.
Nick was a rock star. You could go in, tell him what you were having for dinner, and get a really solid recommendation. You could count on friendly, competent service. And if you bought a white, he’d chill it for you… properly.
I actually got better recommendations from Mariano’s the last time I visited. Until the West Loop gets a wine store run by wine people… I’m actually going to stick with the grocery store. :(

The staff is friendly and knowledgable and the selection of wine is above anywhere else in the neighborhood. Plus, they’re dog friendly! In the summer months, you can buy a bottle and sip it outside on their private patio. This place is seriously beyond!

Just moved to Chicago from San Diego and was feeling a bit lost. Stumbled upon Madison Vine Wines and instantly felt like I was back home. Super nice people, brilliant wine selection, craft beer and pup friendly! I couldn’t ask for a better place and it’s only 2 blocks from home. I am a lucky girl!

Amazing wine store! I cant really say anything that hasn’t already been said. They have unbelievable wine tasting events on Thursdays at 6pm. I was beyond impressed. The service is friendly. They feature wine from several of my favorite wineries and the prices are a steal!
I would allow plenty of time to explore this store when you go. They have a decent craft beer selection as well. They are dog friendly and it can get pretty crowded. The patio in back is beautiful and the private space downstairs would be perfect for an intimate event.
I told all my girlfriends this can be our meet up spot prior to wine nights from now on. Its the perfect place to stock up on all of our wine! You wont be disappointed here. The staff goes above and beyond to help you.

Absolute delight! the owners are so wonderful, the space awesome to host parties. Went with friends for a wine tasting event and Mark our Sommelier was extremely nice and gave us generous wine tasting portions. Cant wait to host a party there!

Part I — Yes, I go out all alone!
Probably the only place I was too busy yapping it up (and sipping it up) to take a photo! It was a pleasure meeting Sam & Jerold — you can tell that they both enjoy the customers as well as their wine. It’s not only «excellent customer service» it’s genuinely «neighbor-​friendly» that can set the tone for a whole evening and Sam & Jerold got my night off on the right foot.
What I liked very much was that after I’d tasted a couple of wines, I really wanted something different than what I’d sampled and Sam took off like a shot. He selected the perfect wine, one that I’d never have chosen simply by reading the description. The shop is large enough to accommodate a nice selection of wine but cozy enough to feel friendly and intimate. I found the pricing very fair for the neighborhood.
As others have mentioned, there’s wine tasting every Thursday from 6 – 8 pm. I look forward not only to this time, but also to coming back during summer to enjoy their outdoor space. You can purchase a bottle and consume on site, bring in a bite. I think the dog-​friendly space lends itself nicely… makes it feel that much more homey. Plus, if you drink a little too much wine and start barking… maybe no one will notice.
There’s at least a couple of BYOBs nearby — Butterfly to name one — so Madison Vine is handily located. (See my Butterfly on Chicago Ave. review for Part II)
I also bought a couple of unique goodies — a small wine tote to keep your bottle chilled & a fun horizontal wine gift «bag.» I liked their selection of wine accessories. Can’t wait to make this place a regular on my Unilocal check-​ins! & yep, they’ll do a courtesy quick chill and have you on your way.

A nice little wine shop in an area that doesn’t have many great options. Sam, the owner, is very nice and the layout allows for nice tastings upstairs. The patio area is nifty too.
Selection is limited and not many interesting wines for wine geeks (what, you don’t have 4 different types of Arneis?).

A great addition to the West Loop. A vast selection of wines and craft beers, but no liquor though. The guys that tend this shop are laid back and provide excellent selections based on your requests. I don’t pretend I know much about wine, I like dry whites, which was called out by my female companion. «I drink that with my girlfriends when we get together», she said condescendingly. Time to explore some reds.
I don’t even feel overwhelmed by amount of selections, walk in and let the gentlemen know what I am looking for with a price range, and I am on my way shortly. But if you’re looking to hang around there’s always several bottles on display for tasting whilst browsing. It’s like having a car guy in the family, you just trust their opinion.
Free tastings on Thursday nights from 6 to 8pm. This will ultimately end up filling your wine rack at home, but you needed restock anyway, so why not get some tastes on the house? The space is unreal, you wouldn’t expect this ducking in off the street.
This is my new joint for wine, Arista Foods doesn’t provide the service, and this is dangerously close to my living quarters. When I brought a $ 12 bottle of Pinot Noir to dinner that impressed everyone including my mom and sister, I was sold.
