Lincoln Park Dental Specialists

I would not recommend Lincoln Park Dental Specialists (LPDS), nor Dr. Zickman.
I never write reviews on Unilocal.I created a login and password solely to write this review. I would also like to note that I despise muckraking Unilocal reviews and only write this as a service to anyone considering an Oral Surgeon in Chicago.
The procedures I received were the removal of wisdom teeth and a dental implant. The removal of wisdom teeth went fine. The dental implant, however, did not.
The trouble started when I was told by my regular dentist –who is responsible for forming the fake tooth to be implanted — notified me that the abutment installed by LPDS /​Zickman had to be replaced. The abutment, which is a piece of titanium that the new tooth/​dental implant is attached to, was installed by LPDS /​Zickman in such a way that the new tooth would not have a strong enough hold to withstand a lifetime of use. This would not have been a big deal if I had been given a clear understanding of how or why. Instead, I received calls from both my regular dentist requesting that I schedule an appointment with LPDS to install a new abutment, while at the same time being told by LPDS that they have no understanding of the problem with the abutment and that I should clarify with my regular dentist… and so I was stuck in a loop, without a clue as to what went wrong. This lasted a month.
It wasn’t until I had scheduled an appointment with LPDS, and was sitting in Dr. Zickman’s chair, that he notified me that he had to remove my abutment. It was readily apparent that he had just been notified of my situation — as he is in his office only one or two days a week. He removed the abutment, saying that the one he installed was perfectly fine… which it was not.
Of course, I still had no idea why there was a problem with the abutment until I went to my regular dentist that same morning and they explained that the lab that makes the fake tooth refused to make a tooth for a faulty abutment.
Honestly, this bad review could have been avoided if Zickman /​LPDS would have just picked up the phone and spoken to my regular dentist. Instead, they refused to admit their mistake and chose to leave me in the dark as to why I still had a huge gap in my smile a month after it was promised to be fixed.
In fact, probably wouldn’t have bothered to write this review until I received a call just now from LPDS saying that they mistakenly refunded me an extra $ 200 for their ill-​conceived abutment job. The brief conversation reminded me of the tone they take with their clientele (especially when they are in the wrong) which is rude, demanding, demeaning, and impatient.
I did not have a good experience with Lincoln Park Dental Specialists. I do not recommend them.

I think good customer service is hard to find .but I will say they kindly apologized for the last time we were here… the location specialist spoke with me and he seemed to be genuine in his apology! That def made up for our last visit… I still think DORA OR NORA. .STILL DON’T KNOW HER NAME shouldn’t be employed anywhere bc of her lack of professionalism… but I’ll hack it up as a bad day for her… anyways, happy they took the time out to apologize about our last visit… it’s the small things that go a long way! (:

This office seriously has it going on. Weekend appointments, friendly helpful staff, really friendly dentist, awesome hygienist, accounting staff that knows what they are doing, no extra work on my part. I had a unique experience as I was using COBRA to get work done and would have to pay out of pocket and then be reimbursed months later when my COBRA paperwork finally cleared. I was also no longer living in the region and had a limited amount of time to be in Chicago to get this done. I had pretty bad experiences with 2 other dental groups in Chicago so this was really refreshing. I wish I still lived in the area so I could still use this dental group!

I had the worst dental experience of my life here. I went in for a consultation for a minor gum surgery my dentist recommended and waited over an hour and a half after my scheduled appointment time. I was even early for my appointment to fill out any paperwork. The doctor came in for about three minutes and told me what I already knew from my dentist. They couldn’t tell me how much the operation would cost and never followed up with me. It was the most memorable poor client experience I can remember. I am definitely going somewhere else although I’m sure they could easily execute the minor operation my dentist suggested. It was a total waste of three hours of my time.
This also reflects poorly on my dentist for recommending these people. There are a lot of Unilocal reviews on here that clearly show I’m not the only one having this experience. Terrible way to treat a prospective client.

I switched my schedule around and waited a month for my appointment.
I have been here for over an hour, this was a complete waste of time.
I am not giving my money to people who don’t have respect for other people’s time.

At the ripe old age of 31, I found myself needing my first root canal. I had gone to my regular dentist for an emergency visit after the left side of my face suddenly became swollen and I had an intolerable throbbing pain that made eating near impossible. He confirmed that I likely needed a root canal and was kind enough to give me antibiotics and pain meds, but said that he wouldn’t be able to perform the root canal himself. You see, I’ve got these funky curved roots on my back molars — instead of going straight down, they do kind of a «C» curve towards the back of my mouth. Obviously this makes a root canal more difficult and more risky. So I was referred to the specialists at Lincoln Park Dental.
Initial visit was just a consultation and it was confirmed that yep, I needed a root canal, and yep, it would be risky. I was given another round of antibiotics and scheduled a return visit.
I was warned about two things — one, that my curved roots could complicate the procedure, and two, that they would have to drill through the crown on the tooth (which was undamaged/​intact) which could cause it to break. (Really was not looking forward to having to pay for a new crown!)
The root canal itself took awhile. Probably 1.5 hours or so, though I wasn’t keeping track. That’s not a complaint though, I’m glad he took his time! In the end, everything seemed to have gone well. A temporary filling was put in the tooth and I was advised to go back to my regular dentist for a permanent filling.
My regular dentist confirmed that the specialist had done a great job, the infection was completely gone, and tooth #18 was saved! The crown didn’t break either, so I only had to pay a small amount for the filling. I have good dental insurance, so the overall cost for the whole process was very reasonable. I hope I never have to have this done again, but if I do, I’m definitely going back here! They did a perfect job with a very difficult root canal.

Let me preface this review by saying that I am terrified of dentists and my pain tolerance is laughable at best. That being said, I’ve never had such a fantastic experience in a dental office.
I have had two different root canals performed by the incredible Dr. Jafarnia. He is charming and calm. He will keep you comfortable as the procedure is performed but explains each procedure enough for me to feel assured of your safety before he begins.
In both procedures, I felt absolutely no pain. The injections of local anesthetic were painless due to a numbing gel and Dr. Jafarnia’s incredible skills as an endodontist.
They have a full state of the art surgical facility with portable digital X-​rays which provide instant X-​rays via computer which allow for instant magnification and faster treatment.
I highly, highly recommend this practice and Dr. Jafarnia.

Dr Zickman is GREAT!!! Handled my son wonderfully! Office/​Front desk staff and manager is horrible! My son had a surgery I paid the portion 1000.00 LPDS assigned. A few months later my younger son needed the same dental procedure, I set up an appointment with Dr. Zickman, Now I have to wait for authorization from my insurance. We have the same insurance nothing changed, especially in the middle of a coverage year.
One day I call my insurance and check the status of the pre authorization and find out that I only should have paid 440.00. Had I not spoken with my insurance LPDS would have kept the balance and said nothing. So you couldn’t perform the procedure and you already had my patient portion?

The «management» (Or mismanagement) of this place is horrible.
I’ve never seen any business, let alone a Dentist Office act like this in my life.
The dentists and the nurses were nice and friendly, but I can’t review their work because I left there with nothing done.
Nancy (Saleswoman/​Receptionist) told me the price and said it all had to be paid at that moment. I referred her to the form that was in her hand I signed of THEIR policies that clearly stated on the top that 20−50% down was required.
She checked w mismanagement and came back with my signed form that now had the down payment line SCRIBBLED out out in pen!
I Swear to God this is 100% true.
She told me the manager said even though the form stated what it did they would not honor it and it all had to be paid then or they wouldn’t care for me.
I asked to speak to the manager who made this decision and was told they were in the back and didn’t come out to see patients. i then asked for the name of specific person whose decision it was to not honor their own form and was told that there is a couple of them «back there»
I left with my throbbing toothache and I will see a real entodontist Monday and gladly pay whatever is fair and disclosed to me without the nonsense.
I’d rather deal with a toothache and then deal with the Circus Act their «management» runs there.
Zero Stars for their business practices.

I’m still terrified of the dentist, but I must say they went above and beyond starting with me calling telling them I was lost. The guy must’ve told them where I said I was and I should’ve been there so they called me back to guide me to them. Everyone was very pleasant and knowledgeable and my surgeon rocks Dr. Termini was great he and his assistant made sure I was okay and comfortable. So I’ll be going back for any specialty care I need. I really never write reviews. but in this case i had to, people need know how fantastic the quality of care Dr. Zickman and his staff provide.
My daughter was treated for very bad TMJ and is now pain free and eating food she hasn’t in years.
Not only did Dr. Zickman have a plan for my daughter he called other Oral surgeons to confirm his path for her health was correct and followed up by e mail and called to monitor her well being. No ego just professional care
If you need a dental specialist see Dr. Zickman and his staff for professionals and cutting edge oral care.

I haven’t even been there yet but the girl who answered the phone is probably the rudest dental or doctor receptionist I have ever encountered.

Not a good experience.
I would suggest go to a at least 4.0 stars and good reviews.
They are not clear on what you should pay or not pay and if you have paid or not. if you ask for your historic or old receipts they won’t give to you.
But my root canal was fine and quick, the doctor was great.
The front desk staff treat clients bad and rude, they need to be trained and/​or be more professionals about their roles.
I just want to finish what I need to finish and go somewhere else.

I hate, HATE the dentist but the staff here is amazing. I’ve been here 3 times now and every time it’s very welcoming. They are fast and care about you.

I have some old baby teeth with no adult teeth behind them. Meaning my best option was to get an implant.
I’m not one for freaking out about procedures. For the most part I’m pretty comfortable with going under the knife, but all the same I like good environments. Here’s my experience:
1. If you ever get an implant, they cost a ton, but the procedure is actually pretty easy. Time in the chair to walking out the front door was maybe a half an hour. It was pain free, stress free, and to be honest no pressure/​weird noises etc. Pretty crazy for having a screw put in your jaw.
2. Dr. Manos who did my procedure. There is a reason the guy is good. He made me feel 100% comfortable, always used my name (I know he didn’t remember me each time, but all the same), joked around with me, explained everything, and during the procedure was absolutely aces.
3. I have a difficult schedule for work because of my traveling. They were completely accommodating. They also scheduled my follow ups with my dentist for me to get my crown placed on my implant. They were timely forwarding my x-​rays (right away) and their front desk staff was very helpful with working with me.
Like I said, they made the implant procedure really a breeze. Yeah the money is no fun (like $ 4K total), but if you need an implant — go here. Amazing referral by my dentist.

Great people. Had my first root canal today and it was a painless procedure. The shot to numb me was the hardest part, everything else was a cake walk. Dr. Vizgirda is a top notch professional and Chandra was the greatest thing I could have asked for.

It’s hard to give dental work a 5 but I had a great experience here. I was referred here by my dentist for a root canal that was giving me major pain. Dr. Paul Vizgirda was my doctor and was great. Chandra was assisting and was my endo angel (I get a little dental anxiety). The procedure was quick and as comfortable as dental procedures can be. The front office staff were nice and helpful and the office itself is nice and at a good location in LP. Hopefully I don’t need any further endo treatment, but if I did, I would feel very comfortable coming back here.

Yesterday I had my 4^th root canal done by Dr Jafarnia. Based on my first three, I wouldn’t have gone to anyone else. His assistants, Chandra and Evelyn, were wonderful in making me feel comfortable during the consult and the root canal. Dr Jafarnia was again open to answering any questions I had. As this was my 4^th, I didn’t have many and trusted all would go well again.
Dr Jafarnia puts a numbing solution on the area before he injects the novocaine, which makes it so you really don’t feel much at all during the injections. I felt just a little towards the end for just a second.
The whole procedure went by very quickly. Dr Jafarnia and his assistant Evelyn were a perfect team, passing instruments back and forth. Before I knew it, the root canal was done! Dr Jafarnia explained how much Ibuprofen to take over the next days, what to expect, and that I should call if I had any problems.
On the way out, Evelyn mentioned to me how much she loves her job, which I’m sure made an impact on my experience as the patient.
If you need a root canal, go to Dr Jafarnia — he makes it as painless as it can be!

Just had a root canal done here this morning. I am completely pleased with the service. I arrived just a few minutes early and after finishing the new patient paperwork was taken back to a room within 10 minutes of my appointment time. They did quick x-​rays and then the Dr. came in and did the treatment. All told, prep work, paperwork root canal and getting a hard copy of my report for my GD who will finish the crown, I was there for about 1.5 hours.
The actual procedure was awesome. Yeah, I just said a root canal was awesome. This was my second (my family has bad teeth, ok, don’t judge me) and it was way easier than the first and completely pain free. Now keep in mind it’s a major oral surgery and so not completely discomfort free, but no real pain to speak of and only minor discomfort during the anesthetic and now that it’s wearing off where the needle went in. The actually procedure was quick and easy. Dr. T. did an amazing job. Both he and his assistant made me feel very comfortable and the way they interacted gave me confidence that they procedure would be done well, and it was.
The front desk service was very nice too, and this was kind of an emergency (getting it in before the end of the year to use my benefits) and the we’re very accommodating.
I haven’t had to deal with any crazy billing issues or anything yet, I don’t anticipate that happening but if it does, I’ll update.
For now I am completely, wildly happy with the service I received and would recommend anyone looking for a good practice for major dental work to check these guys out.

Where the hell do all these critical reviews come from? It seems everyone loves the dental care, but some don’t like the service from the front desk. So what! You’d prefer lousy dental care and loving front desk service?
I’ve had lots of work done here, from implants to root canals, over seven years. Everything done for my dental care has been exemplary. That’s what I want when someone is working inside my mouth. And I got it.
