Lin Alexander, MD

Dr. Alexander Lin performed surgery on me almost 2 weeks ago. He is an expert in robotic laparoscopic hysterectomy & he has a wonderful & very comfortable energy & demeanor. He talked me through everything & answered every question in preparation for the surgery. During surgery, he found mass scar tissue, which had attached some of my organs together. He removed all of it. I feel like a new person & he has greatly improved my quality of life. My scars are almost invisible in the near 2 wks after my surgery. I am so thankful that he was my doctor and I feel very blessed to have been taken care of by him & his skills. We encounter angels on earth, and he is one of them. He has made a majorly positive impact on my life & well being. Thanks, Dr. Lin — you rock!!!

Alexander is the man.
I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Lin. This might be the vaguest review I’ve ever left, but he delivered both of our children and made us feel 100% at ease even though our first child was coming in for a bit of a crash landing as far as births go.
My wife is no doctor, but works in medicine, so she had a list of the way she wanted things to go for both births and neither time did Dr. Lin, try to pull the I’m the Doctor, or «I know what you need» card on her.
Just an all-​around mench.

Top notch doctor! Dr. Lin always gives me plenty of time to speak about my concerns, is very thorough in answering my questions, is genuinely compassionate and always follows up and calls me personally with any pertinent information. And, I feel very comfortable with him. What else could I ask for in a doctor!

Dr. Lin is excellent. He delivered our first daughter in 2010 and recently our second daughter in 2013. He is caring, upfront and knowledgeable. He was our primary doctor for both deliveries and we wouldn’t want it any other way. He goes above and beyond what is asked. A wonderful doctor and person.

dr. lin recently delivered my twins, and my husband & i were thrilled with the care we received. my husband had not had a chance to meet dr. lin during our prenatal care, and he was immediately put at ease by his professional yet congenial bedside manner. i had to be induced because of some minor complications, and dr. lin was very patient with the process, not pushing interventions nor any sort of timeline, explaining his rationale for his approach at every juncture. he appreciated our birth preferences and spent time discussing the plan with us. i credit his expertise, patience, and sound medical judgement for the safe arrival of my twins without a c-​section! i would refer my friends to this excellent, intelligent, caring doctor without hesitation.

Avoid this man at all costs. I’m 37 weeks pregnant and had already spoken to other doctors in his practice (Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group) about my husband’s and my preference to have a natural birth. No one seemed phased. Then today I made the mistake of sharing our birth plan with Dr. Lin. He said flat out that if I wanted that kind of birth (i.e., natural), that I’d have a bad experience with their practice. He went on to describe multiple frightening, worst-​case scenarios, talking about women dying, and –the topper – letting me know that if I didn’t consent to an intervention he recommended that he could decline to care for me. Absolutely zero sensitivity to my feelings or condition and absolutely no respect for me as the patient who has a right to know about and consent to my care. I pray (hard) that he is not the person on call the day I go into labor. I’ve never felt so dismissed, disrespected, and uncared for. Not the outcome you want from a doctor. This is a huge shame because my experience with other doctors in the practice, of which he is medical director, has been mostly positive. P. S. — I have since learned that MANY women have had similar experiences with this doctor. Avoid him at all costs, especially if you are pregnant and would like some say in giving birth to your child.

It’s not hard to find a «good» doctor when you’re healthy. The first couple of times I saw Dr. Lin were for routine visits, and I had no complaints. He had been referred to me by co-​workers who raved about him — I wasn’t singing praises but would have been comfortable referring him to my friends and family.
However, last summer I was experiencing more troublesome symptoms that were not easily solvable, and Dr. Lin was absolutely awful. He made comments insinuating that my problems were all in my head, despite the fact that I was missing work, canceling vacations and in his office a couple of times a week. At my wit’s end, I saw another doctor who immediately listened to me and prescribed very safe medication to mask the symptoms until they got to the bottom of my problems (a couple of months later). I would never, every go back to Dr. Lin. He knew I was feeling miserable but said the only treatment was «to stop thinking about it». Stay away unless you’re sure you’ll never have a health problem!

Great doctor! I hate going in for this yearly exam and this was my first visit but had been referred by my sister-​in-​law. He made me feel very comfortable and was very professional.
Highly recommend!
