Specialties
LEEP provides therapeutic experiences for sensational children through the DIR ®/Floortime™ approach. Programs encourage regulation, social engagement and peer interactions as well as promote individual growth as limits are expanded and horizons are broadened. It is our goal to be able to provide a comprehensive and individualized program for the child and the family to reduce transitions and enhance relationships, and also to foster spontaneous, mutually enjoyed, reciprocal interactions between members of a peer group. We introduce vocabulary and concepts in the following areas: emotional regulation, monitoring internal states, self-concept and self-esteem, character development, social awareness, negotiation, and compromise.
We provide a structured environment while also following the children’s lead by facilitating naturally occurring play experiences, discussions and conversations. Language development is encouraged by choosing activities involving expressive and receptive language, nonverbal communication, metalinguistic skills, and sequencing skills. We create activities that teach and encourage perspective-taking.
Perspective-taking can be a challenging concept for many of our children but it is a vital skill in maintaining and expanding meaningful interactions. It’s our hope to provide a safe and supportive environment where children are able to process their thoughts and feelings while learning and having fun!
