Dr. Grace Lee is an Advantage Preferred Invisalign Provider. Invisalign clear braces consists of a series of clear custom aligners that move teeth into ideal position.

Established in 1972.

Dr Louis Sommerfeld has been the neighborhood’s beloved dentist for close to 40 years. Dr Grace Lee has taken over the ownership in Feb, 2008. The office has been renovated since and equipped with the newest technologies.

Dr. Lee graduated from the Ohio State University with two degrees– a BS in Human Nutrition and a BS in Chemistry. She went on to earn her DDS degree from the Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Passionate about creating whole-​mouth health for her patients, Dr. Lee continues her education with coursework in implantology and esthetic smile design. Her professional memberships include the American Dental Association, the Illinois State Dental Society, the Chicago Dental Society, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Dr Lee loves seeing patients with fear of dentists. Dr Lee creates customized affordable plan for each patients and provides gentle care that transform their smiles and lives!

Dr. Lee resides in Chicago with her husband, Mike, their young son, Noah, and their Lahsapoo Chew Chew. When she’s not creating beautiful smiles, Dr. Lee enjoys cooking, running, concerts, and spending time with her family.

Disclaimer — I’m slightly biased, as a great friend works here.
This dentistry is changing the face of health care. The location is exceptionally located just a block from the brown/​purple and red lines. The décor is outstanding and makes you feel elegant and stress free — unlike the feeling of most dentistries that make you feel like you’re walking into a taxidermy shop. The location is spotless, organized, clean, and well appointed.
The machinery (or what ever you call dentist equipment) is immaculate and state of the art. Their imaging software, cameras, and equipment are very clearly top of the line.
Initial consultation is thorough, and their dental hygienist, Victoria, was extremely knowledgeable and friendly.
It’s pretty, clean, and effective — what more could you ever ask of a dentistry?! Is it weird that I am looking forward to having my filling redone next week?!

I’ve been going to Lakeview Smiles for 7 years. They are everything I want in a dental office. The office is clean, modern, and comfortable. Everyone there is friendly and thoroughly explains what is happening. I’ve had several fillings, and they have always done a great job. I’m very happy with this dentist, and have no intentions of going anywhere else.

This dentist office is decent. The staff is very nice and explains things well. However, scheduling is difficult and often takes months to get an appointment. I feel they do more than what is needed, I have never had a cavity and was checked by my old dentist 4 months prior to going to Lakeview Smiles. This office told me I had 4 cavities and needed a deep cleaning, wasn’t sure on their diagnosis and seemed a little sales-​like.

I love Lakeview Smiles and Dr. Lee. I have been going there for over 6 years, starting in the original location and moving with them to the new space. My partner now goes there along with a few friends and co-​workers that I have referred and they have all had similar experiences.
Everyone really takes the time to explain everything and in terms that you can understand and they’re meticulous attention to details is above par! I remember my first time going and Dr. Lee could tell I wasn’t the biggest fan of the cleaning and she said I could use my music/​headphones, as the sound can be half of the experience that can be uncomfortable and that made a world of difference.

My husband, my (7yo) son, and I all started going to Lakeview Smiles last year. The dentist and hygienists are amazing (and GREAT with kids). The front desk staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful with all things insurance. The technology at this office is superb and really helped educate me on my oral care. This place is completely worth the travel from Logan Square to Lakeview during rush hour!

I had a HORRIBLE experience at Lakeview Smiles. I went for a regular check up and teeth cleaning and was told that I had 5 cavities and that I was lucky because they have special equipment, which helps them pick up on things other dentists might not see. I was skeptical because that seemed like a line and I had never had a cavity before. I went to another dentist and got a second opinion and had one cavity. They didn’t even feel like the other spots were necessary to watch and were shocked that someone would tell me they had special equipment. The dentist also tried to push invisalign on me (even though I had braces and have perfectly straight teeth) because she said that my front teeth are all the same length and shouldn’t be. It made no sense. I asked the second dentist that I saw about it and she just laughed. They also tried hard to get me to pay for expensive whitening treatments. I’m seeing that they’re listed as «cosmetic dentists» so maybe that was the problem, but I didn’t know it at the time and just got their number off of my insurance company’s list. I wouldn’t recommend going here unless you’re looking for unnecessary procedures.

I’ve already recommended people here and I will continue to do so. Dr. Lee is an amazing Dr. who was magically able to make me happy about my smile. I came into Lakeview smiles with over a dozen cavities and after each and every visit I feel like family with them. My hygienist Fotiny was also very professional and made the office visits exciting because of her lovely personality and knowledge on hygiene. This office has changed my views on going to the dentist.
Sherry who is the manager was able to work with me on payment options and she made me feel completely comfortable about always coming back for dental work or even just dropping in to say hello. AMAZING OFFICE AND STAFF!

I’ve been coming to Lakeview Smiles for about 3 – 4 years now. I can tell you with full confidence that you will not find a more professional, friendly, and thorough staff for your needs. I’ve had multiple visits with hygienists there, and also a crown– which although I was not prepared for the serious work that involved, was put at ease the entire time.
Dr. Lee is just about the best dentist in every sense. Her staff is fantastic as well. You won’t be disappointed!

I have had my share of dental work in life but have never had a better dentist or hygienists than I’ve had at Lakeview Smiles. Admittedly, I’m sometimes skeptical of what seems to be advanced technology in small offices, but I’ve been consistently impressed with the technology at Lakeview Smiles and the mastery the staff has in using it. Dr. Lee and the team are all very kind and take the time to explain things, allow me to ask questions, and always make sure I’m comfortable. Scheduling and insurance is well operationalized and well-​managed, all the way through to payment.
The worst thing I can say about this office is that sometimes I’m there too long as a result of enjoyable conversations with the staff. (No, that’s not a joke.) And if that’s the biggest problem one can find with his dentist, it’s probably a damn good thing.

My first experience with Lakeview Smiles was a cleaning in August. I needed an evening appt. which can be harder to find most places. I was impressed that LS’s offers text alerts with daily available cleaning appointments once you are added to their system. This makes getting your preferred time even easier.
2 months later I experienced a need for an emergency appt. for a fractured tooth. I was given 3 available times to come in same day.
Dr. Teahen is the dentist that I see at LS’s. His consultations are thorough. His skills along with the advanced on-​site technology provided made my experience very enjoyable. I have to say I’ve have never been to an office with the most current gadgets that provide both comfort and time efficiency. I needed a crown and it was created on site. No temporary or need to return. The placement and shape of the crown were an immediate fit thanks to the 3D model Dr. Teahen created while I watched. Always a relief to leave pain free.
The staff is very friendly and great with follow up. To date, I’ve never had to wait. Appointment times have been true to form. A friendly, professional team with a seemless environment. Thank you!

I have been going to Lakeview Smiles for about 18 months. I do not find them particularly easy to work with. Between cleanings and procedures I have been there 4 or 5 times and in 3 instances I have received a call or email notifying me my appointment has been changed. In some cases, my appointment was changed to a time that I was not available.
I just called them to reschedule an existing follow up appointment and the receptionist was rude to me, which inspired me to finally write a Unilocal review.
The actual dental services seem to be fine but service in general is certainly lacking.

I started seeing Dr. Lee about a year and a half ago and have been to the office 7 – 8 times. While Dr. Lee is thorough and the staff is nice (for the most part), it is extraordinarily difficult to schedule an appointment if you work normal hours during the week. The last time I tried, I was told there was nothing for a month — and my next option was still noon on a weekday. I didn’t even care at that point if I saw Dr. Lee or another at the practice. I have had continuing issues with crown work done here that may or may not have been at issue, but the scheduling problems have made it impossible to continue coming here.

I don’t normally write reviews, but this one is overdue.
I have a long history of trauma and anxiety when dealing with any trip to the dentist. Until I went to Lakeview smiles, I had avoided going for seven years! Fortunately this office gave me a complete turnaround. The atmosphere is clean and welcoming, the staff is kind and genuinely caring, and the dental work is beyond excellent– gentle and well done. I really have to say I started to look forward to going to my appointments.
I wanted to especially mention their office staff, Ashley and Sherry. Both of those ladies made me feel much more calm and confident when I first went through my initial appointment. I was terrified and very emotional. After my exam, Sherry came back to finish up some paperwork, and when she realized how upset I was, she immediately stopped what she was doing and sat down with me. She promised me that the experiences I had in the past would never happen again. I was blown away by her kindness and concern… and she was right. I have never experienced such easy, painless dental work.
I cannot say how much of a relief Lakeview Smiles was for my health and peace of mind. I will never stop singing their praises.

I really enjoy going to Lakeview Smiles! The entire staff is warming, polite, nice, and funny. I saw Dr. Ryan Teahen and he is very talented! He works fast and extremely thorough.
My hygienist was sweet and gave me lots of valuable information. The assistants and front desk are helpful and kind. Overall this place is awesome because the staff are all great people!

Dr Lee is super sweet and knowledgable. It’s hard to find a trustworthy dentist and she is by far the best I’ve ever seen. Also her hygienists and assistants are super nice and helpful, especially Maria who does a great job of calming nervous Nellys like myself down.

I’ve never left the dentist feeling great, until today. Everyone here was the perfect combination of super informative and friendlier than any dental staff even need be.
Front desk made extra calls for me to get my correct rate table from my janky insurance, and worked to find me a quick appointment while I was in town.
Hygienist took photos and scans that showed up on the monitor in front of me, explaining each one where there were issues and what they our I could do about it. (so cool too, loved seeing that and the extra knowledge)
The dentist was super friendly, and again explained each step that was going to happen. I never felt any discomfort (and I’m a squeamish wimp with my teeth), and actually had a number of laughs because of their great sense of humor. Fantastic work.
And whoever the reviewer is below who had issues with front desk clearly didn’t work with Amy, cuz Amy was awesome.
Looking forward to my next visit and highly recommend!

2 words: Shady Mechanic.
I had more dental work completed and recommended in my few years with Lakeview Smiles than I have in my entire life. I have beautiful teeth with a few extremely minor chips and it was recommended that I get veneers (???).
I had a bad feeling about Lakeview Smiles from the beginning and so glad I finally listened to it. I switched to another dentist in Lincoln Park after ANOTHER cavity was discovered… And then dismissed 6 months later at the new dentist.

I used to really like coming to this dentist. I am not sure what changed, but the customer service at the front desk has declined severely. There is a lot of attitude every time I call — like I am putting them out by calling at all. It’s really sad, because I used to really like this place.
2 stars because I think customer service is the most important aspect of any service business. I’m not giving 1 star, because the actual dental staff are very nice — just really bad experiences with service up front.
