To keep it simple, I have had 3 chiropractor consultations and in each one I just felt like another number. Dr. Tavenner AND his incredible team offer sincere, personal attention to your needs and provide you with a wealth of expert knowledge. For the record, I have never seen nor had chiropractor services in the past but as it stands, I have now used Dr. T’s services for chiropractic care, physical therapy and deep muscle tension relief. I am thoroughly impressed with this practice and will continue to recommed their services!
And yes, I am much better off now than I was before seeing this team 3 months ago!

Based on the reviews here on Unilocal I decided to give Lakeshore Chiropractic a try after I managed to injure my neck, shoulders and upper back in a fall in October. The reviews are right on. This place is great. It’s conveniently located downtown just a few blocks from my office and they are flexible with hours and appointments. What really sets this place apart though is Dr. Tavenner and his staff. They are nice, professional, courteous and knowledgeable. They care about their patients, have a great attitude and are very good at what they do. I was in quite a bit of pain when I first came in but Dr. Tavenner came up with a game plan consisting of adjustments, physical therapy, deep tissue massages and electrotherapy and it worked. Now, two months later, I feel better than I ever have. Highly recommend Lakeshore Chiropractic.

I had been suffering with severe lower back pain and tried other treatments before finally coming to Dr. Tavenner, I wish I had gone sooner! I felt so much hope just from the first 5 minutes of my initial appointment with Dr.Tavenner. He gave me a very thorough assessment and was able to tell me what was going on with my back and had a treatment plan for me that I felt fully confident about because of his way of explaining it to me and from his professionalism I knew I was in good hands! Dr. Tavenner truly cares about his patients and wants to make sure you are comfortable and more importantly that you are getting better. My pain was so bad that I couldn’t even walk, I thought I would have to have several sessions before getting better but to my surprise I was better just after a few weeks of seeing Dr. Tavenner. He cares so much that he even checked up on me between my appointments and I was able to contact him with any issues I was having. I would recommend Dr. Tavenner to my family, friends, and everyone because he truly is the best and you will feel so confident that you have come to the right place. I appreciate him so much and am very thankful to him that I am now living pain free and am able to do the exercises he taught me to prevent the pain from returning. Dr. Tavenner is a rare practitioner. He sincerely cares about his patients, he is very detail oriented and he is brilliant. His office location is fantastic and just walking distance from work. I struggled with IT band issues and incredibly low arches in my feet. I was in so much pain that I could barely run. Under the care of Dr. T, I am able to run «pain free». He is the best in the business.

Lakeshore Chiropractic and Rehabilitation Center changed my life. I first came to their office in late 2013 with severe back and leg pain due to a few herniated discs. I had already sought treatment from another local chiropractor but their one size fits all approach wasn’t working. Enter Dr. Tavenner and Sara, the masseuse. I initially entered the office a skeptic and left a believer. From my very first visit, it was clear that the staff truly cared about its patients and was committed to addressing the issues at hand. Over a few months, they helped address my pain to where it was manageable on a daily basis so that I could continue to work, etc. And when I ultimately had surgery, they provided physical therapy and assisted me on the road to recovery. Now, nearly two years later, I remain a client and continue to visit the office at least monthly for a «tune up» to make sure that everything is aligned as it should be. And my husband is now a client too. I really appreciate Dr. Tavenner’s custom client approach and his patience with even the most insane of questions/​worries. He is an absolute gem. The service he provides today is as effective as that when I first walked through his doors and has evolved as my medical needs have changed. He is a fantastic and very kind/​caring doctor and a skilled leader as evidenced by how smoothly his practice runs. Sara is also amazing and has a focused and empathic approach. I have seen several chiropractors in Chicago and simply put, Lakeshore is the unparalleled best. Dr. Tavenner is a phenomenal doctor. I went for a number of frustrating aches and pains that I was experiencing while training for a marathon. He spent time assessing my gait and movement pattern and came up with a plan. He kept on me to make sure I was doing my «homework» and he got back on track. The staff is professional and I felt respected. My only regret is that I moved to Boston and it’s a bit too expensive to fly there for treatment!

Dr. Tavenner is the best! He is so kind and helpful, and really listens. I came in when I had a badly sprained ankle, and he helped me out a lot. He was very compassionate when I freaked that I’d never be able to walk again, which was incorrect thank goodness, and has a great sense of humor.
Also, when my insurance didn’t cover my therapy, he gave me a huge discount, and was really great about how difficult the whole situation was for me, being poor and in pain lol. And my ankle is healed!!! Thanks, doc!

Disclaimer: My review is going to be quite lengthy so to get a hint as to my review, I will say that YOU WILL FIND NO BETTER than Lakeshore Chiropractic & Rehabilitation Center, I promise you! I have been attending this center for close to 4 months now. One of my co-​workers spoke highly of them so I decided to give them a try. I had serious knee and back pain. I am honest enough to say that I went to a physical therapy facility in the summer of 2013, was only there several weeks and was very dissatisfied due to me being assigned to different therapists who weren’t solely versed of my condition as well as there not being a professional feel to the establishment so I was a little hesitant in trying physical therapy again. The first time I met Dr. Tavenner, I knew my experience was going to be much different and top notch. He along with his staff are extremely thorough. My first visit with him, he took alot of time finding out about my condition, history and level of pain which I was impressed with. From then, whether it was massage therapy, electronic stimulation or physical exercises, Dr. Tavenner has worked hard to soothe my pains and has allowed my condition to be so much better. I cannot thank him enough. He is very caring to your treatment needs. Not only is this facility one for chiropractic needs, there is Sara and Courtney for massage therapy and Ning for acupuncture. I have been serviced by them all and they are all friendly and highly skilled. And I cannot leave out Lauren the receptionist who has such a friendly smile to greet you and very helpful in making your next appointment and to put your mind at ease. I look forward to every time I have my appointment because I know my body will feel so much better. I will continue to need the services of Dr. Tavenner and his team as I just had knee arthroscopic surgery and I really look forward to when I can return. Headline: Dr. Tavenner got rid of my 8 months old pains.
I met Dr. Tavenner after having 2 cycles of muscle relaxer (did very little), 4 months of physical therapy (somewhat helped) and 2 months of acupuncture (helped but pains were coming right back after treatments) over the course of 8 months for my upper back pains.
I can probably take more pains than many people do but the level of pains were 7 to 8 (out of 10) prior to meeting him. I wished I had a sling to «carry» my right arm as my right shoulder didn’t want to carry the weight of my right arm caused by the pains. Dr. Tavenner diagnosed it as one of my ribs was out of its joint, which was actually contradicting to what I had been told by my physician, physical therapist and acupuncturist but he immediately started to give me treatments based on his thoughts. By the third appointment, my pain level was down to 1 to 2. I am still conscious about my upper back and careful about keeping a good posture so I will stay away from pains, but I can’t say enough how happy I am about the outcome of the treatments he has given me and let me sleep on my right side which I was not able to do before.
He does listen to you to pinpoint where your troubled areas are and patiently work with you until you feel comfortable to go on with your life. His explanation and diagnostics make sense and help me understand what is going on and the exercise he gave me helps me relieve or stay away from pains.
I am really happy that I found him. I hope he will not consider retirement ever!

I don’t know what I’d do without Dr. Tavenner…
I was first sent to Dr. Tavenner by my doctor a few years ago for physical therapy on my ankle. Some time after I had stopped seeing him for that, I was talking to a friend about back pain, and she started going on and on about this fantastic chiropractor that I needed to see. Imagine my surprise when she handed me a business card for Dr. Tavenner! I had completely forgotten that he did that as well. I got in touch with him and to my surprise, he actually remembered me.
I’ve been seeing Dr. Tavenner regularly now for a few years and I can’t speak of him highly enough. I tell everyone I know about how great he is (so I don’t know why I’ve waited so long to post here). I could go on and on about him, but will try to keep to the key things here.
First and foremost, the most important thing — he’s good at what he does. Seriously. I remember my first real evaluation with him (after the ankle thing), and he was like, «So you have problems with this, this and that, right?» He was spot on, of course. It’s amazing… he can just look at you and at how you move and know what the problem is.
I also appreciate his patience. I have issues all the time for various medical (and accident prone) reasons, and he never fails to make it better. And trust me, my body tries to trip him up at every turn, but he’s always up for the challenge. I can always count on him to not only make my injuries better, but to make me feel better, too, when I walk in feeling stupid for having hurt myself yet again (I constantly hurt myself in the dumbest ways — it runs in my family).
Aside from being good at what he does, Dr. Tavenner is just a great person to be around. Let’s face it… if you’re going to him, you’re probably in pain, but it’s easy to forget about that when you’re there. I love my time in that office. I don’t think I’ve ever left there without having spent a good amount of time laughing. And it’s not just me, either. I can hear people from the waiting room sometimes sounding like they’re having the best time. Dr. Tavenner is warm, friendly, funny and easy to talk to. But don’t let that easygoing manner fool you — you’re there for a reason, and he takes that very seriously, but he’s really good at making you feel at ease while doing so.
I do want to mention, also, that everyone in Dr. Tavenner’s office is fantastic. I love going in there and feeling like I’m with friends. For starters, Lauren is great — so friendly and welcoming. Since she is likely the first face you see when you walk in, it’s nice that she’s always smiling. Also, Sara… I’ve been to see Sara many times in conjunction with my treatments with Dr. T. She’s so sweet and really listens to what you tell her. She’s attentive and always checks in with you during treatment to make sure you’re doing ok. Plus, I always walk out of her room feeling like jelly (in a good way, of course!).
After all these years spent with Dr. Tavenner, there’s just so much I could say, but it’s hard to put it all into words. Suffice it to say, I honestly don’t know what I’d do without him. When I’m broke, he fixes me, and I am eternally grateful for that.

My experience with Dr Tavenner is first rate. He is a careful listener. I am a running addict, so finding out I could not run this summer due to a metatarsal stress fracture was tough news. And since I could not apply any pressure on my right side, numerous other issues due to compensation patterns followed. Dr. T & Sara were an amazing support system in my recovery– both physically and mentally. I know I was a challenging patient, so I feel eternally grateful.

Not just for back pain! As a novice runner with bad form I quickly injured my knee. Dr Tavenner did a thorough assessment and identified some muscle weaknesses and joint stiffness i didn’t know i had. I realized right away that these issues had been affecting my posture and gait in small ways that have added up over time. Not only is my pain going away but I feel empowered with a greater knowledge of what my body needs and what exercises I can do for better balance and strength. The exercises he gave me are simple and don’t require any equipment, I can feel the difference they make every day. Dr Tavenner is great, he’s professional, and takes his time explaining things and making sure you are on the right track. He treats the issue and gives you the tools to maintain wellness and prevent injury in the future. Affordable too!

If you have ANY sort of body pain (neck, back arm, etc.), Dr. Tavenner and his staff will help you treat and manage it. The doctor gives you clear explanations and prescribes useful exercises along with his adjustments. You will see results if you follow his advice!

Dr. Tavenner is awesome. I was having horrible low back pain. He explained to me why I was having back pain and how he was going to fix it. I was not disappointed with results. I feel better!

I’ve only had chiro visit with one other clinic before I came to Lakshore but I can tell how much better Lakeshore is. The initial visit was very thorough. Dr. T was easy to work with and nice. They work with my insurance and work out a plan for me. I had a very long problem on my neck and back, the adjustment definitely helps. I also have a lot of soft tissue problems, Sara was very knowledgeable and help loosen my knots. I love how it’s sooo close to work! :)

Great front desk, masseuse, and great doctor! I will definitely go back despite my ins. not being carried here. Sarah gave me an amazing massage also! She is the best prenatal masseuse (I go to Urban Oasis).

Dr. T is great. He helped me fix my neck pain and gave me the tools I need to make sure it doesn’t come back.

I do not have an expansive history of getting chiropractic treatment — but I gotta say from the ones that i’ve worked with, Dr. Tavenner is the best bar far.
He actually does the deep soft tissue work that other Chiropractors avoid — mainly because its time consuming. The outcome is dramatically improved, however, with an experienced Chiropractor doing the deep tissue work vs. a masseuse. And to me this was key and really helped my condition. I will continue to see him for «maintenance» and will work with him for any additional problems that may come up (so hopefully won’t need to see him too much!)
He’s a very nice and professional persons, and takes time to explain things very well (I ask a lot of questions too).
