I’ve been order for deliver from la humita for a while now. My favorite is the salmon con pasta. Today I have to say I was a bit disappointed that my empanadas didn’t have any cheese in them. When I called them and told them. They delivered platanos con queso in exchange. Thank you for quick customer service. Recommended place to eat at and order from.

Ecuadorian food restaurant. Sure. Good was good. Took them over 20 minutes to cook one persons meal. Yes. Understand that it’s done fresh and love the concept but 20 minutes… hmmmmm. The prices are extremely high! Paid over$ 200 for a party of five. Yup!!! Includes a soup and your entrée. Wow!!! Anyways parking is a headache. Street parking. In a city. Just think. Ok. That’s my comment.

Awesome service, Ecuadorean food, drinks and atmosphere! I literally just ate here and I couldn’t wait to come here and say how wonderful they are! As we entered the restaurant we were immediately greeted by the owner. He himself took care of us and offered us a variety of drinks. We started with the cheese and ground beef empanadas and then we were surprised by the owner with a warm and flavorful soup after he heard we were hung over. We also ate the ceviche and carne asada, and flan, lots of flavor! Overall, this place is a wonderful find… Amazing service!!! Amazing prices! And most of all well hidden. One of the best restaurants in Chicago and yes it is not downtown and pretentious and it doesn’t have to be in order to be one of the best restaurants in Chicago!

Overly priced for an Ecuadorian want to be place, the food is not that great, I have tried better food. But if you want to pay 17% gratuity for the worst service ever go right ahead this little place does not compit with high cuisine restaurants for me it is not all that I rather go to other five stars restaurants to spend my money because they are worth the money I am paying for. This one not so much. If I could I would give it ZERO stars.

If you want to pay 17% + tax in gratuity you are welcome to get into«La humita» overly priced food, not a top tasting food neither the better service compared to the crazy price of a small«wan to be» «Ecuadorian» place, I have tried multiple Ecuadorian cuisine restaurants and this place in specific doesn’t make a big difference or hit the spot to be a «Wow Restaurant» mind as well going to get a bowl of rice at any other place Ecuadorian or not… If you are looking for a tasty and traditional plate of Ecuadorian food I’ll recommend«Restaurant Ecuador» at diversey not a ripoff or even«Cuenca’s Bakery» at Montrose.

1 star for the service but the rest are just plain, frozen food and simply not good. I don’t get the other reviews but had such an awful food experience. Corvina is frozen, deep fried fish… u kidding, learn how to properly cook the fish, not everything has to be deep fried. Will not recommend and will not return and NOT Ecuadorian food. Place is not clean either… such a waste of time.

Nice owner! Great service! Great food! My fiancé is Ecuadorean and her grandma makes Ecuadorean food for us at family gatherings; and this reminded the two of us of that good home cooking. Definitely will come back again for the food. They also have karaōke Thursdays which I may have to try.

La Humita was actually recommended to us by our Über driver who is from Ecuador. After attending a wedding in Chicago, we decided to have some lunch at this beautiful location. We have never had Ecuadorian cuisine so we decided to go ahead and try it for the first time. Everything that we ordered was delicious and well served. It was a little bit different from the cuisine that were accustomed to but every dish was superb. We were almost done with lunch when we noticed Nestor, our server, preparing a delicious drink at the bar. When we inquired what it was he explained to us that it was a Caipirinha. It is made with clear rum, lime juice and some sugar. This fabulous after lunch cocktail completely topped off are eating experience. I would recommend it to any local and or any person from California or any other state for that matter visiting Chicago. The food was fantastic, the service was excellent, and the restaurant was family friendly and extremely clean. They even had a $ 10 for $ 15 Unilocal deal that I used. But with the quality and service that we experienced I would have paid full price. Thank you Nestor.

I called this restaurant last minute, near closing time, to ask if they have seats for 30 people. Not only did they prepare the tables and seats for 30 people, but they also had the chef prepare all the food quickly. The food tasted good and fresh. What made this restaurant worth 5 stars was that they allowed us to use their karaōke system, at no charge, and it definitely lightened the mood of the crowd of 30 people. It was a great time with good food. Will be back! Though it’s a small restaurant, I would recommend this place

The most authentic Ecuadorian food in Chicago. I’m a gringa, but i lived in Ecuador for 13 months… humitas were my all time favorite when I was there… The humita from this place was like the best version of it. I brought my Ecuadorian friend to this restaurant. He’s been living in southern Illinois for 6 months with his new wife. He was so giddy with excitement to eat Ecuadorian food. He was overjoyed !!! He loved it! I will definitely be back. Es lo mejor!!!

It’s too bad that this didn’t work out for us. The food for the most part was below average. Much of it was likely reheated. The ceviche salsa was like water with ketchup. The fritada did not have good pieces and the piece came out like the oil was not fresh. The owner had his paperwork next to the general area which did not look presentable. It was definitely not an enjoyable meal.

I went there on a weekday. I am going to give them another try on a weekend. The food was delicious, but the Empanada Chilena and the Quinbolito were stored in the freezer and microwaded for serving. It is not a fault though, these dishes take a lot of time to make, so probably they only do weekend batches. I had the Llapingachos, and my Honey had the Borrego Asado. The one thing is, price of Empanadas Chilenas and Quinbolitos wer $ 3.50 ea. That’s obscene. Mea culpa, mea culpa, I took 10 of each home. :-) for flavor :-(for price.

Tough calamari, sweet beyond necessity ceviche, overcooked pork, impossibly hard empanadas. If any of this sounds appealing to you then this is your restaurant! My partners Ecuadorian and was so excited to eat here. NeedlessTo say we left very disappointed. The only saving grace where the two namesake tamale like dishes that we ordered as appetizers.

I’m not a huge fan of Ecuadorian cuisine as my palate tends to prefer spicier foods, but the ceviche here was refreshing and the tripe stew surprisingly light and tender. Service was extremely friendly! The lunch specials are a good deal and just the right amount of food for one person.

La Humita has awesome Ecuadorian food! My friend who is from Ecuador recommended this place so that right off the bat meant this place had to be good! Its a small cozy restaurant where the waiter makes you feel at home. They have awesome lunch specials and the portions are very generous. I also just noticed they make smoothies there which were great for a warm afternoon(had the Guanabana smoothie and tried the tree tomato fruit juice). Great local restaurant in the area that I will definitely visit again in the future!

For around $ 2000.00, you can have an amazing trip to Quito, Ecuador, meet amazing people, try awesome food and dance the night away at one of their lovely verandas drinking Sangria you can never buy here in the US. Or, for about $ 40.00, you can have an amazing trip to La Humita, meet amazing Ecuadorian people, including its chef and owner, try their awesome food(Jappingachos being my favorite) and dance the night away on their lovely La Balcona drinking Sangria you can never buy here in the US. Your choice!

Had an amazing dinner here, we came following Chef Javier Perez. Had amazing starters like the la humita which was to die for, we also had a crab cake with meyoco sauce, for entrée we had the apanada de res a ny strip so tender it cut through like butter, a whole tilapia with fried tostones and the llapingachos with ecuatorian sausage and fried eggs. The drinks were amazing, made with zuhmir an ecuatorian sugar cane liquor and naranjilla! Chef Javier is a genious! Would come back just for yhe food but love the live music spot on the second floor as well perfect for a nice weekend out

I recently went on vacation to Ecuador, so to get psyched up I had dinner at La Humita before my trip. My buddy and I came here on a crisp Saturday evening, and we must have been early diners because it seemed dead in there. Eventually business picked up a bit, and I suppose the lure is the live music on Friday and Saturday evenings(we did not stick around that late). We started off with a complimentary bowl of lentil soup(good) and a bread roll(edible). We split an order of the delicious appetizer combination, which consists of an empanada, a humita(sort of like a tamale) and a potato patty. We ordered the arroz con menestra for dinner, consisting of strip steak, lentils, rice, plantains, and mushrooms. It is a solid and filling dish, but did not quite outshine the appetizers. Although I had no room for dessert, I did have a fruity lulo shake on the recommendation of our friendly waitress, and the drink was quite tasty. If you want a nice and easy introduction to Ecuadorian food, La Humita is a fine place to dine.
