Do yourself a favor and come here for the Al Pastor tacos. The flavor and texture was out of this world. I can’t speak for the rest of the menu, but those tacos alone warrant a 5-star review.

Ordered delivery tonight. I ordered the fish tacos, which I found inedible. The fish tasted like mud. Seemed so low quality, and I couldn’t continue eating. Boyfriends steak tacos were OK. The steak was chewy. Guacamole was the best part of our meal. We will most likely order tacos else where next time.

Overall: Small, friendly, and delicious when it comes to cheap Mexican food. The good: Very friendly service who tolerated our not-sober group with pleasure. The food was good and portions were good sized. Keep in mind the price when it comes to taste, this isn’t high-class cuisine. BYOB. The bad: The place is kinda dirty, and to go to the bathroom you see it all. Not a lot of flair or anything. Didn’t refill sauces even though they brought out lots of chips. Atmosphere: 7⁄10 Service: 10⁄10 Food: 8⁄10

Ordered via Grubhub. The order took a while to arrive, but there had just been snow, and it was late, so I was happy they were willing to deliver at all! The veggie burrito had lots of little slivers of sweet peppers. The guacamole was good — not outstanding, but good — and the chips they sent with the guac tasted like they were probably made in the store.

I came here for breakfast and ordered the chorizo with eggs tacos. The waiter was very friendly and the verde sauce was unique, really tasty, homemade tasting. My dish was perfect. They know how to make chorizo and eggs the right way. Some places keep the eggs separate… wrong. Needless to say, I cant wait to come back.

My husband and I have been here twice and it will be our go to for Mexican food. Both times our food was excellent. The prices are great and portion size is good too. Friendly staff, could not ask for more. And chips and salsa brought to your table as soon as you sit down.

Very attentive and pleasant staff. I had chile rellenos and one al pastor taco. They were both VERY good. I live nearby, so I will definitely be back!

The food is very good beware the menu online is wrong pricing. The menu online has a steak burrito for $ 6.99. I called and ordered and when I picked it up I was charged $ 8.49. I asked why and was told that the menu is wrong. Also if you use Eat24hrs the price listed for the steak buritto as $ 7.49. They really need to get it together. Playing dumb about pricing when you work for a restaurant does not cut it for me.

Average food… HORRIBLE service… completely clueless. These people took 2 hrs to deliver a small order and then gave me attitude when I asked if they could discount it because of the wait time. Definitely lost a customer. I’ve eatin in the restaurant too and service is comically bad. There are way better Mexican options out there… don’t waste your time.

Me and a friend decided to go here by default. The other place we wanted to go to was closed so we ended up at La Amistad and we are glad we did! First off, byob is always a good sign! We stopped by a nearby shoppe and grabbed some wine to start things off right. We were in the mood for tacos so we got carne asada, al pastor and chicken. All were delicious! Usually the chicken tacos at most places lack flavor but the ones here did not disappoint! Al pastor were probably my favorites but all three were quite tasty. The red and green salsas served with the chips were both very spicy but fresh and delicious. We had a friendly server who put up with my Spanish and was very attentive. Great place I need to bring the hubs to.

Food was excellent… We were up in the area. We Googled ta very fussy with his steak if there’s any fat i cos and the place came up. We read the reviews they were all pretty good so we figured we would give it a try. Rob is very fussy with his steak if there’s any fat in it he won’t eat it so it passed his seal of approval. Very good

I’ve been eating here for over 2 years. Every meal I’ve had is great. I’ve been here for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late night. I had a birthday dinner for 10 here this past spring. Very friendly service, tasty food, daily specials, and BYOB! The food is consistently good, and I feel good about taking friends and family here to dine. I have moved out of the neighborhood, but still go out of my way to come here for their gorditas and sopes.

Wonderfully sweet and quiet atmosphere. Great selection of authentic Mexican cuisine and antijos. Service was courteous and fast. Vegetarian options available. All food was cooked well and in prefect portions. BYOB. Bring a bottle of wine and enjoy the food.

What a gem! The best chicken with mole enchiladas I’ve had, hands down. Outstanding mole! The tamale, homemade, was somewhat dry, but tasty. The tacos al pastor are outstanding. In addition: Outdoor seating, BYOB. Food: 4+ stars Ambiance: 3 stars, but sitting outside makes for a 4 star experience. Service: 4 stars(Very polite server who methodically provides good service.) We have been here 3 times now and we plan to be regulars.

The new management is great. My co-worker and I try to make the trip there about 1−2/week. Steak fajitas, steak tacos, and chicken burritos are flame. Great service as well. Thank you!

I can’t believe all of the good reviews for this place! Unilocal totally steered me wrong this time. The most tiny and overpriced tacos I’ve ever had, and they didn’t even taste good. The meat was dry and flavorless. Overall, a very unsatisfying snack.

Love this place! I have been a loyal customer to La Amistad for years! It’s changed owners a few time, but the good thing is that every new owner keeps the menu pretty intact. They continue with the same amazing recipes, and buyers. It’s located in ravenswood which is a hip neighborhood that has a lot of restaurants around. La Amistad stands out from the rest because of their gourmet Mexican food. They have such unique plates that taste very different from all other taquerias. This place actually cares about the ingredients they serve. Their rice is home made which is delicious, their beans are also home made, the guacamole is made to order, it’s super fresh. The tacos are perfectly proportioned, just the right amount of meat, tortilla size, and salsas on the side which are also their own recipes. They have street parking, the cutest outside patio. The inside could use to be decorated a bit more, but who cares about that when the food is so amazing. If you are in the mood for gourmet affordable Mexican food be sure to stop by here. You will be an instant fan!

The food here is so fresh and flavorful and the atmosphere so welcoming that I can’t wait to come back here! Take it for what it is– it’s slightly priced above Chipotle but the quality far surpasses it. It’s not the best Mexican food in the world, but for a $ 20 dinner for two, you just can’t beat it. I had a taco salad and my date had a chicken quesadilla. We both raved about how tender the chicken was and my vegetables in particular were spot on. The cheese in the quesadilla was to die for, and being a Wisconsin native that’s tough for me to say outside of my homeland. I would absolutely recommend this place if you’re looking for a chill meal. It’s not the fanciest place in the world, but a great non-pretentious joint to bring friends and family, while getting great service and really fast — but quality — dishes.

Atmosphere: looks kinda eh, but it’s trying. Complimentary chips: above average Steak taco: I can’t say because when I ordered delivery from them, these were 5 stars. Now it’s a a lot tough and a bit tasteless/needs more salt. Lengua taco– 5 stars(delivery and now). Overall, whomever cooked my tacos during delivery had a better hand and sense of taste. Still, I would definitely recommend this place. The waiter never came back to check on me.
