Koev’s Moving

Stefan and Brandon were unbelievably professional, efficient, and cost effective. They paid extra attention to the key items, and protectively wrapped my items on top of the wrapping job I had already done. The care they showed in making sure they didn’t bump my walls in my new townhouse was exceptional. Stefan was accommodating, available, and communicative throughout the process. Great moving company to use, and I will use them again if ever needed. In the meantime, I recommend them to friends, family and strangers alike … without reservation.

WHAT HAPPENED TO KOEV’S?
Tried to contact Stefan this week via phone and email. No return phone call and email returned. Did they go out of business? They were awesome.

I was referred to Stefan/Koev’s moving by my brother. For my brother to say this crew was hands down the best movers EVER, I knew I couldn’t go wrong. Let’s just say that Stefan did not disappoint. Even more, I had very high expectations because of my brother’s referral and Stefan SURPASSED IT!
I had a complicated move like most people (had to close/​move/​close/​move) and of course it didn’t go smoothly. When we realized on moving day that we weren’t going to be able to close on our new home and move — Stefan found us storage and just like that we had a plan. We closed the following week and Stefan and his crew made the move from storage to our new home work into his schedule so that me and my family wouldn’t have to be displaced any longer than we already to be. Did I mention that they also packed for us??? They did an amazing and fast job at that, too.
So — to tally it up… they packed us, moved us out of our old place, found a last minute storage solution that didn’t cost us anything, moved us into the storage unit, moved us out of the storage unit a week later, and moved us into our new home. If you are counting, that is 3 days worth of work. They worked hard, fast, and meticulously. All of our stuff was in perfect condition when they left.
With any other company — the cost of service like this would have taken a 2^nd mortgage to pay for. Not with Koev — he charged just under $ 3k for all of that (and this included some packing supplies). You shouldn’t research any further than this Unilocal page. Koev is THE moving company in Chicago.

Stefan moved all of my stuff from Chicago to San Jose on schedule. He was very responsible and texted throughout his journey. Nothing missing and nothing damaged. Very reasonable prices. He’s a very nice guy.

These guys are AMAZING! I was in a panic mode because I only had 4 days to find movers to move me from my parents house in Park Ridge, to a one bedroom apartment in River Grove. I called numerous places and none could do it for the day I was moving such was a sunday, most were even closed on Sunday! My last call was here, and Stefan (the owner) answered quickly, and was able to talk to me while he was on his way to a job! He was able to fit me into his schedule with 4 days notice, and explained all costs to me and the extra charges, if needed. I kept apologizing for the short notice that I was in the hospital for a few days, and just had gotten out, and couldn’t call earlier. He was very polite and was even concerned and hoped I was feeling better!
They (Stefan and another guy) arrived right on time (even earlier than expected) and moved everything from the house in less than an hour! I couldn’t believe how FAST and STRONG they are!!!
Stefan was more than willing to drive to another destination to pick up my furniture (sextional, bed frame and dresser) that I ordered in Bensenville at a warehouse with no extra crazy charges that most companys would do! It was about 3 hours for my move and came to about $ 300 which is a steal!
He helped set up my couch and even came the next day to help my dad pick up the dresser (IN HIS OWN PERSONAL CAR!) from Bensenville that they screwed up my order on sunday! He helped my dad set up my bed frame that day too! I can’t say enough about Stefan! He is incredible! He only charged us $ 75 for that next day, which is UNBELIEVABLE! We gave $ 100 just because of how great he is! We even offered to pay his gas, and he wouldn’t let us!
The next week after i moved, I texted Stefan and asked if he sets up furniture, and if so; could he help me with 3 big things (still in boxes) he said ofcourse he can help, and I’m just waiting on his availability! That’s just incredible!
You can’t find service or honestly like that anywhere anymore! He does NOT take advantage of people, and he even will tell you that! What a great guy!!!

I had a move from champaign il to chicago il. The moving experience with Stefan was really great! He was able to provide really good communications through out the whole moving period. Also, he was very professional at handling all my belongings. Another key point to point out is that he was ON TIME for both pick up and delivery! Thank you for the great service!

After reading all the great Unilocal reviews I thought I made the right choice by choosing Koev because I wanted to make sure I would have experienced movers that was careful and courteous since I had bad experiences with movers in the past. I spoke with Stefan over the phone and requested that he would be part of the moving team, but understandably he was out of town and was unavailable on the day of my move. Instead they had sent three movers, Brandon, who was fantastic and was the lead, but two brand new movers that I was told had only moved once or twice before. One of the movers did not know how to wrap when he was asked to wrap up the sofa and a few chairs. After about 10 minutes of watching him attempt to wrap the sofa he abandoned it completely and disappeared. I understand that there are furniture items that cannot avoid scratching the walls, but the same guy was just grabbing smaller, looser items by the armful with items sticking out all over the place and kept bumping into my walls and rails when those smaller items could have easily avoided the walls if he was just more careful. I was nervous every time he picked up anything. I had two boxes that had broken glass with liquid items. Two snow globes exploded and water spilled onto my hardwood floors. A box of pantry items were full of broken bottles and sauce was dripping out of the box. I opened it up and it was a box full of broken shards of glass and sauce. Imagine trying to find a towel when everything is still in boxes.
They also do not accept checks. I didn’t realize that until the last minute when stefan called to give me the total that I owed. It was my fault for missing that info on his website. They do accept credit cards, but not without a fee that was the percentage of the total and not a flat fee.

Stefan, I did not fabricate anything here but I have edited it to remove some of the details that may be irrelevant. However this was my experience and nothing was exaggerated even tho I removed some details. Response to your comments below:
1. I am only stating a fact that you do not accept checks regardless if you have it written in your clause and I had missed it. Either way I re-​worded my review to say that it was my fault for overlooking that info and removed the inconvenience I put on myself for having to run out to the atm to get the cash.
2. I did come to Unilocal,which is why I called Koev. Others’ experience does not change my experience. However I do want to state how courteous and careful Brandon was during the move. I really appreciated him and how hard he worked. Because of this I’ll meet you half way and rate three stars instead of two.
3. Yes my snow globes were wrapped in bubble wrap and my box of sauces were wrapped in newsprint. Yes you are correct that I did not mention any of that in my emails to you because I was willing to overlook that because my concern in my emails was focused on the inexperienced mover and I was merely informing you about it. But I did not lie about the broken glass items just because it is new news to you now.
4. Like I’ve stated in my email the only way to repair the damages would be to re-​drywall the walls and re-​sand/​re-​stain my furniture. I didn’t want it fixed by covering it up with a felt marker or by a magic eraser or anything similar. That is my decision. You can’t fault me for declining your offer to come fix the damages when I would prefer it done professionally. I was just saving yours and my time.
5. I did not exaggerate. Since you have posted my emails, here is one of your emails you sent to me in response to my initial email after the move:

I did have a chance to talk to crew and am now confident I can state the following here:
I, too, find the third guy not attending up to our strict standards. I am willing to compensate 4.0 manhours ($ 12.75/hr) as a small token of appreciation.
I also am willing to come by and try to repair the scratched furniture to the best of my ability and any wall/​railing scratches as well.
Please do let me know when is a good time to stop and mend our work.

But you recanted and now you stand firm that he did do a good job and I was never compensated. It was never about the compensation for me. You sympathized and I was grateful at first, until you changed your view and now saying that I am fabricating.
6. You did scheduled 7:30am with me. I remember this very vividly because I told you that the elevator was reserved for me at 8am and that 7:30 may be too early but you said that is fine because they would be using that time to wrap furniture anyways. btw I did not know you were on the west coast and that it was 6am where you were. I just called the only number I knew to call.

I called on the phone today for an estimate — I was surprised after reading all the positive Unilocal reviews because the man I spoke with was extremely rude. I got hung up on after I asked for an August 1 move in. I understand this is a short time frame but there is no need to be rude! Will not consider Koev’s moving for future moves. Awful customer service.

These guys are great. I can’t say enough about their expertise and professionalism. Most of all though, they are genuinely nice guys, so you will have a very positive moving experience and perhaps a few laughs.
In late may, I ended up having to call Koev’s Moving because I had an extra large sofa that I needed hoisted in through the sliding glass doors of the 2^nd floor of my living room. I had never done anything like this before, so I was a bit apprehensive when I called around to movers looking for help and advice. I chose Koev as one of the vendors that I would call because of their high ratings on Unilocal.
What immediately stood out to me about Koev above all the other highly rated movers that I called was how responsive Stefan was. The very first time I called him he answered his phone and was very personable and ready to help. On subsequent occasions that I had to call, I noticed the same thing. He almost always answered his phone or called back promptly. This is in contrast to the other vendors who were far less responsive.
The second thing that stood out to me was how professional and flexible he was. We discussed the situation and after asking me a few questions he really put my mind at ease by letting me know that the job was quite doable etc. His pricing was fair and he was able to immediately schedule me. I actually had to call him to reschedule when the furniture delivery was delayed but, here again, he was quite accommodating.
When Stefan came over to move the sofa he brought two other team members. They were able to hoist the sofa up and get me situated in what seemed like a very short time. I wasn’t measuring the time but I would say in less than 30 minutes. What then impressed me is that without being prompted they offered to stick around to and help me get the sofa situated in the proper place and they even helped me put the sliding glass doors back on. I really did not expect this but I really appreciate it and found it to be very considerate.
I would highly recommend these guys.

Stephan and his crew just finished our move. These guys are awesome. They were fast and efficient. They were also a bunch of great guys. When they found out that the elevator wasn’t working to our second-​floor unit, they didn’t complain and went about their work happily. The final price was very fair. I have used bigger companies in the past but these guys were much better overall. Stephan was very easy to communicate directly to his cell phone by text and calling. We have had some big pieces and heavy stuff which they took care of no problem. Hopefully I never have to move again. If I do, I definitely will be calling them right away.

Great movers. Helped us move a 4-​bedroom house in Lake county. Fast, efficient, careful. Easy to get a hold of over email and text. Straightforward upfront and honest pricing. Highly recommend.

I recently moved my large one bedroom apt across town. I had moved here 1 ½ years ago from another state with a 14 foot U-​Haul. I’m beyond heavy lifting so my son and a friend moved me into my 2^nd floor apt then.
I couldn’t get them again, so I filled out the online forms for two of the big moving companies listed here — detailed furniture list, good estimate of boxes, etc. They both came in very high — four guys, six to eight hours, big truck and around $ 1000. Huh? I have a fair amount of furniture but nothing that can’t be easily carried by two guys.
I saw Koev on here and sent him an e-​mail. We had a couple phone calls to set things up. And two guys moved me with a 14 foot U-​Haul and it took just 3 ½ hours. That was from one 2^nd floor apt to another 2^nd floor apt, so there was a lot of climbing stairs. And these guys worked hard and fast. Total cost was around $ 370, not counting the well-​deserved tips I added on. These guys were friendly, careful, and a real pleasure to work with.
I hope it will be a while before I move again, but Koev will get my call when the time comes. And I recommend them to anyone. I couldn’t rate them higher.

This is the third moving company I’ve used over the years in Chicago. Looks like 3^rd time is the charm. I will never use another moving company again. Stefan was so responsive, and beyond helpful with things even before they arrived on moving day. I was putting things into storage and he helped me figure out what size storage unit I need because I would have had no idea otherwise. He communicated through both text and email, which made things so convenient for coordinating. And it was such a reasonable price to boot.

I contacted Stefan via the form on his website, and received an email that night. I wasn’t expecting to hear from them so soon, since I filled the form out on a Sunday. I gave Stefan a call, and he was upfront with his rates — which were very competitive. Stefan and Brandon were able to make the journey out to the suburbs and move me on very short notice.
On moving day, Stefan called me prior to arriving, and he and Brandon made extremely short work of my 3 bedroom’s worth of stuff. From move-​out to move-​in, the whole process took less than 4 hours, and was considerably under the budget I had set for myself. Stefan and Brandon were extremely careful with my belongings, and even took time at the end to touch up marks on my furniture from previous moves! Stefan was also kind enough to give me some tips with washer/​dryer installation, and assemble a kitchen table that I had to take apart prior to the move. Both men were friendly, courteous, and they HUSTLED! I was pleasantly surprised with my experience, and would recommend them to anyone making a local move.

Stefan and his team are wonderful. I called him on a Thursday to ask if he could move one sectional sofa that same weekend — and he made it happen. Brandon and Momo who did the move were friendly, polite and the best movers I’ve witnessed in action. They took so much care moving the sofa into my house to ensure nothing touched the walls and their patience was hugely appreciated. Most movers just want the job over and done with as quickly as possible, but these guys are true professionals who care. I can’t recommend them highly enough — and have already recommended them to my friend who has booked them for her move.
Look no further — whether you need an entire house moved, or a few items — Stefan is the bees knees!

Stefan is the owner of Koev’s. He’s very «user friendly» making it very easy to schedule time. When I was calling around to arrange my move from Park Ridge to Storage to Chicago, he called back immediately when I left him a message. He gave me pricing over the phone and stuck to it. He even gave me a discount on my second move with him (I had to go into storage and then out of storage on a different day). He’s not a big company — he’s a very personable entrepreneur. He brought me used boxes and paper — and didn’t charge me for them — on his personal time (he was on the way to dinner with his Mom). He also gave me recommendations on which type of boxes and tape to use and how to pack.
His guys work hard and are pretty careful. They aren’t uptight and will work with whatever situation you have. Everything was moved without issue — they know what they are doing.
A final example of how Stefan works: he arranged storage for me and found a deal for one free month. When the operator wanted to charge me for a few days in July (even though 30 days hadn’t passed since we moved in), he took care of it so that no charges were due. And, as I said above, he discounted the moving fee for the second time I used him.
I like this kind of personal service and attention. He’s a go-​getter with good, strong guys who can move anything. I definitely got my money’s worth and recommend him to anyone as well as using him again.

Park Ridge to Chicago via Storage

We needed movers last second for a first of the month move, and everywhere we called was booked. We called Koev’s Moving and they had a cancellation so they squeezed us in. They told us between 10:30 and 2:30, depending on the appointment in front of us. Much to our pleasant surprise, they called about 8:00
and told us they’d be able to make it early! The whole move took under 5 hours, with three very polite movers plus Stefan (the owner I think?). Overall we would highly recommend. The price was a little higher than what we wanted to pay, but we felt like we got our money’s worth. Next time we move, which hopefully is not for a long time, we would use them again.

We just used Koev’s to move from our downtown high rise to a duplex in Lakeview. Stefan was prompt to respond to your inquiry regarding scheduling a move for following week. He was easily reached by email and phone.
Stefan and Momo came to move our items. They worked carefully and quickly. They wrapped furniture and other fragile items in padded blankets. Stefan made sure to tell me if he had any concerns about some of the pieces before he moved them (like a crappy IKEA Malm dresser that is now hidden in a storage closet).
Stefan was extremely polite and hardworking. I’ve never seen two people move so quickly and carefully. None of our furniture or items were damaged, and our freshly painted walls survived the move without one ding or dent.
Great customer service and outstanding rates. I will be recommended Koev’s to other friends in the Chicago area.

Koev’s was great. The service was fantastic. Stephan runs his business the right way especially when it comes to customer service. They were polite, went the estra mile, efficient… etc.
I think they are defintely at an affordable price point. I had a one bedroom move that was just over $ 200. It took a little over two hours all said and done. I would defintely recommend Koev’s.

Stefan is amazingly nice and extremely helpful! FYI, this is not a review for a move, but a review of the customer service I received WHEN I WASN’T EVEN A CUSTOMER.
We were trying to do a very complicated move at the last minute during the busiest time of year. Stefan wasn’t able to help us on both days we needed, but he gave us the number of Concierge Moving, a company that he’s worked with in the past and recommended highly.
We had given up on the possibility of having one company do the entire move, so we called Stefan back later and asked if he could just help us unload on one of the days. He got to work putting a crew together. Shortly thereafter we heard from Concierge and it turned out that they could do both days for us. When I called Stefan back to let him know we wouldn’t need their services after all, he was actually excited for us!
This is one of the best experiences I’ve had in dealing with a moving company and I just wanted to let their prospective customers know about my great experience.
