Kenmore Live Studio

I had the time of my life and I owe all to Unilocal!I recently was able to attend a live Internet broadcast featuring Adam Richman from the TV show, Man Vs Food, on The travel channel.
I had no idea what I was walking into and after showing some ID and signing a release of my television rights… I was in the studio! As I walked in I was greeted by two models holding pitchers of beer and they asked if I wanted a drink! Really? Of course I do… it’s 90 degrees outside. The only problem was it was 100 degrees inside the studio. This was the first studio I had ever been in that was not freezing cold. In fact, Adam Richman made a joke and said that his sweat was sweating. Poor guy… he had a shirt, tie, vest and a sport coat. He did take of his sport coat 20 minutes after broadcast started.
The show was about finding the best sandwich in Chicago. Adam was not judging but co-​hosting with the host of the Kenmore channel. There were three judges who had backgrounds in food. One of the judges use to be a personal chef for George Lucas. Adam who was incredibly funny asked, if her food caused Jar Jar Binks… the audience found the comment funny!!!
The 5 finalist were Jerry’s, Manny’s, Lucky’s, The Bourgeouis Pig and Hannah’s Bretzel. Each contestant was given 20 minutes to present there sandwich and make it for the judges. What I loved was that all of us in the audience were also given sandwiches to taste along with the judges. Adam joked again that Oprah may give out cars but he gives out sandwiches. He is really funny!
Did I mention how hot this studio was? If I was on stage, it would have looked like I came from a pool party. I have no idea how Adam is holding him self together. Did I mention the models with the pitchers of beer? Oh yeah they kept coming up the aisle refilling all of our glasses.
This show had everything: a tv celebrity, beer and food! I wish this would happen weekly.
The competitors served:
Lucky’s –the two bagger, which had Corned beef, pastrami, fried egg, french fries, Italian slaw and custom Turano bread.
Hana’s bretzel — Parma prosuto, asparagus, & goat cheese with truffle oil.
Jerry’s –wacky chicken salad — lime chicken — steak –avacado
Manny’s — corned beef ruben
The boursouis pig — The great gabsy — all there sandwiches are named after books.
And the winner in my opinion and the judges was Hannah’s Bretzal. I am glad they won because it was the most original sandwich. It also tasted fantastic.
The guys from Jerry’s were really funny! They brought there own bottle of Rye and passed it around to the judges, Adam and the Kenmore Host. These guys rock!!!
The studio is a fully functioning studio for both Internet, tv and radio. I have driven by here a million times but this was my first time inside and I was impressed. Having a television background it was fun to see how they ran a production and not have to be stressed out for 3 hours if I was working!!!

I was here Wednesday night for the taping of America’s Best Sandwich with Adam Richman. It was a free event and it offered cool insights into how they film a series like that. Unilocal got me my free ticket so a shout out to Unilocal!
Pluses:
— Free samples of all five sandwiches
— Free beer
— Free water and snacks
— Cool people working there and viewing the taping
Minuses:
— The temperature in the studio was way too warm. Adam said it best: Even my sweat is sweating
— Folding chairs which are designed for maybe a 20 minute wedding were torture after 3 hours.
Overall, it was a cool, fun experience and I would do it again but would hope for winter weather outside and bring my own chair.

The free «A Ben Starr Christmas» event held at Kenmore was well worth the drive from Milwaukee. Parking was a breeze in the paid lot across the street (have correct change or use a credit card!) The staff was very friendly and they offered appetizers afterwards. I’d definitely go back again as it makes a great (cheap) start to a night on the town to experience all that Chicago has to offer!

Once you get past the «Kenmore showroom» aspect of the space, the KLS is a free, fun foodie event. It’s a little like watching TV surrounded by Sears products, but you get to delight all of your senses as it is a live show with tastings at the end. The events are short cooking demonstrations; on the night I went, two local chefs competed in their ugly Christmas sweaters. When you first walk in, they ask you to sign in on iPads, giving your acceptance to be filmed and broadcast on their website. They like to interview the guests after the show, but are cool if you decline. Shows are Thursday through Saturday at 7PM, for best seats, get there early. It’s a small studio, so you’ll be able to see from wherever you are, although the view might be slightly obstructed by your fellow audience members.

Free event? Heck yeah!
Attended Kemore Live Studio’s MasterChef 2: The Chicago Reunion! It’s definitely a small studio for simple demonstrations so nothing fancy. There weren’t enough seating for all attendees so quite a few of us had to stand behind the demonstration area and watch off the TV screens.
We arrived late so all the appetizers were gone, but it looked very minimal. I was hoping to eat some of the food the MasterChefs cooked, but they weren’t allowed to share it was us even though Suzy was walking around with her dish offering to people, but a staff stopped her.
Got to take pictures and met Suzy, Guiseppe, and Tony. All great people and doing great things from their experience with MasterChef. Overall the event was more to promote Mariano’s then actually experiencing MasterChef, which essentially is the food.
Left with a coffee steel cup, ground coffee, and a gift card to Mariano’s.
Decent event.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at the Kenmore Live Studio this evening. I went to see chef Jennifer Gavin who was one of the finalists on the show «Hell’s Kitchen». This was my first time going, and I was impressed. First of all, the event was free. The theme of the event was being a «baller on a budget». Cute name. When I checked in, I had to sign a photo release because they film the sessions live and put them on Facebook. They make it really fun — they have a mime that juggles and gets the crowd going — he’s a little cheesy but fun. They have video cameras and they take questions from people on the internet. Get there early to get a good seat. The cooking demo was 1 hour and featured 3 dishes — we got a taste of each dish, and I learned some great cooking tips. So tasty. Of course, they talk about the Kenmore products while the demo takes place. I learned all about an induction oven today. This is a great place to check out for all kinds of events, especially if you are a foodie and like to cook like me. It’s also a cute place for a date or a girls night out. I’ll be back. Definitely worth checking out.

Do you find yourself walking aimlessly trying to sort out your thoughts and need a visual diversion?
Do you know what Kenmore is?
Kenmore Live Studios is pretty amazing, nestled in between the CTA and all of the hubub of corporate america con middle america there is a studio that houses demonstrations and live shows a go go for your viewing pleasure.
Of course it’s to support the Kenmore/​Sears franchise however, this is something that like riding a trolley is to tourism. It’s a must do.
From cooking shows to fashion reality series’ (yes, you heard right Chicago’s own Project Runway is filming here) you can walk by and watch the action from afar or from inside.
Signing in is a breeze, and the studio is very tech savvy with ipads galore. It’s clean, refreshing and shining everything under the careful cycle of a Kenmore washer.
I was in the studio to watch the first taping of ‘So You Wanna Be a Designer’ which is being taped daily but also live in studio Thursday evenings for the next 8 weeks and couldn’t get over how much Kenmore offers this city we all call home.
So from Sears to Chicago, this is a present to all of yous. Take up on it if you are in the area and see what it’s all about.

Chicago is an expensive city to live in so who doesn’t LOVE finding events in the city that are reasonably priced. Well Kenmore Live Studio is the most reasonably priced entertainment around, its FREE.
Came here with a meet up group Chicago Cooking Chicks to see a cooking demonstration by the host of the group Vanessa. The studio is super clean and modern and everyone was very out going and nice.
When you walk in you are asked to sign in by saying you are okay with the taping being broadcast on Facebook, grab a coffee if wanted, and take a seat.
The show is very interactive and humor is brought out through their own personal mime Kenny.
I learned how to make 3 creative dishes and got to sample all of them. What a treat.
It sounds like they have many different events such as fashion shows but the cooking demonstrations are so professional and fun I know that I will be back for another very soon !

This is a super fun alternative way to do something free and different in the city. I felt just like I was on one of my cooking shows that I love so much.

Absolutely awesome. Worth every second. So here is the explanation of this place…
Kenmore, the brand from Sears, appears to have opened up a demo store. Thursday to Monday they host cooking classes/​demonstrations with local Chicago chefs and hand out samples to the audience.
Imagine that you are in the audience of a cooking show from the Food Channel; that is exactly how it feels. They also have bands sometimes and a mime (who I don’t think is funny).
They broadcast the shows on facebook and post the recipes there as well. I think the url is:
