Kauser’s Salon and Spa

This salon is in a little strip mall across the street from Lane Tech. I’ve been here a few times for eyebrow threading and each time I walked in without an appointment and was seated immediately. This is my favorite place to go because she takes her time (which is still only a couple of minutes), it doesn’t hurt, and I don’t walk out of there with a super red face like I do everywhere else that I have tried. The parking lot is very small and is shared with a few other businesses, including a Chase Bank and a Dunkin Donuts.

I’ve been here twice. I was pleased both times. I just wish western was not such a cluster at 5pm!!! I’ll rough it and come back. Good threading is hard to find. $ 7! Can’t beat it!

Good for small area waxing and threading. I like all the women working there and the prices are very convenient.

I’ve been going here for over a year now and would not choose anywhere else to get my eyebrows done! Riffat is the best! She does awesome with not only eyebrows but her facials too! She takes her time and makes everything look fabulous! I highly recommend this place! Really clean and a friendly environment!

My eyebrows were getting completely out of hand, and I kept putting off going to them waxed. Finally, when I looked in the mirror and saw two Tom Selleck ‘staches where my brows once were, I knew it was time to fix my face.
I went in on a Saturday and had my brows threaded for $ 7. It was quick, easy, and my brows were on point. Like BAM!
So, don’t be Dallas. Fix your hairy face.

it should be known that i have been a client of kauser’s first salon, great cuts on devon, for fourteen years now. i’m so particular when it comes to who touches my skin, especially with something as important as my eyebrows. one wrong gesture and you can look surprised ALL the time. or your brows can be uneven in thickness. trust me, i’ve seen it all, and i’ve made the mistake of putting my brows in a stranger’s hands out of desperation before. it rarely works out.
enter kauser’s new (er) salon. sure, it’s much closer to me than traveling out to devon, but i also know that kauser only works at this location on mondays, and i’m usually working. therefore, i congratulated her on the new location but planned on still making my monthly hajj to her on devon.
well, cue birthday week and very little free time to get much-​needed errands, including threading, done in time. i decided that if i couldn’t make it out to devon (and i really couldn’t), i should at least continue to support kauser. so i apprehensively stepped foot into this location.
farrah works nearly every day. she’s gorgeous, intelligent, and confident. i didn’t scare her with my brow spiel. instead, i told her i wanted to keep them thick and i just needed a little cleanup. as she began, she told me my brows look great. i told her it’s because kauser has done then for years. she giggled.
not only did farrah do the minimal cleanup i asked for, she also managed to shape them beautifully. i was, quite frankly, in awe. even my mother commented on the fact that it looked like she had penciled in my brows! only after this did i tell farrah how seriously i take my brows. she told me she’s glad i didn’t tell her beforehand because she would’ve gotten nervous!
i’m happy to report that i’ll be returning to see farrah whenever she’s in and whenever i don’t have the ability to go down to devon. it’s so nice to have another *person*. also, for what it’s worth, my mother got a full face wax with farrah and enjoyed her thorough job with that as well.

I honestly don’t understand why this place has such bad reviews… well I’m just basing this on the eyebrow threading I had done with the sweet older lady who works there. I was going to do wax, but she told me that threading would be better since it lasts longer and gives a more natural shape to your brows (plus mine are a little thinner) so I thought why not. I am sooooo glad she did it. My eyebrows came out looking goooood AND they were EVEN. EVEEEEEN. So many places do a good job with grooming my eyebrows but for some damn reason one is always thinner than the other, and that drives me crazy! But not here man. This here is legit.

Bad place. I tried this place as it was close to home and I needed to get my eyebrows done. I just didn’t have time to travel to Devon where I usually get my threading done. First I felt I was not even welcomed into the salon. Second all through the threading procedure the lady was talking to another lady sitting in the parlor. Talk about customer service. The worst part the lady cut all my skin around my eyes leaving me cuts and scars. My eyebrows were unevenly done as well. I would definitely take the pains to go to my regular threading place in Devon next time.

I’ve been here once before and although I found the woman here to be extremely pushy, I was pleased with my brows so I decided to return.
They take walk-​ins almost exclusively so that’s what I did and when I arrived there was a woman in the chair and a man waiting to be serviced. About 10 minutes after I came in another woman walked in and asked if she could get her eyebrows waxed.
The owner (?) finished with the woman and moved on to the man while telling me repeatedly to sit in one of the salon chairs so I’d be more comfortable (I’m 9 months pregnant) although I assured her that I felt fine. I go to the restroom and upon my return she again told me to sit in the chair and I figured that I was next so OK. She finished with the man then turned to the woman who came in AFTER me and said «you’re next». The woman looked baffled as did I. She knew that I existed because she wouldn’t leave me alone about the damn chair. Then she said «oh she called ahead»
The fuck she did. I told the woman that she in fact did not and that I was CLEARLY next. She tried to make up some bullshit about it only taking a few minutes but the point was she had decided for whatever reason that she valued this woman’s money more than mine, so I took me and my dollars out the door.
What topped it off was that I was so pissed I went the wrong way and got stuck in Pride parade traffic.
I’ll never go back.

I went in to this salon/​spa thinking it was that… it really wasn’t!!! I asked for wax and thread for my eyebrows but was disappointed with the lack of service… no towel over my forehead… no wiping off my eye makeup… the lady was walking across the room for the wax after each application… really??? No… definitely stay away!!!

DO NOT GO HERE! This place is a potential health code violation! I am shocked that as many people have said they had a good experience when they clearly double dip here. Yes, that is right. I went here for a Brazilian and she used the same stick over and over again. Re-​dipping in the same wax creates a breeding ground for bacteria. What if someone else had an open sore (hello, STDs) on their vajajay and then she double dipped on them and then on to me?! The worst part — I called her out on it, asking her not to do that and she said «no, I only use a fresh stick for each client.» WHAT? You are supposed to use a fresh stick with every application of wax! You are NOT supposed to reuse any stick. I tried to explain again and she didn’t seem to understand due to a language barrier (supposedly). I even told her that I was pregnant and that I didn’t want her to use the same stick but she kept doing it anyway. I was halfway through and didn’t know what to do. I should have walked out in the middle. The IL Dept of Health’s site is down today so I couldn’t check if what they were doing was against code or not, but I would NEVER go here again. They clearly don’t care about their client’s health (those stick are not that expensive). On top of it all, I walked out with blue wax all over my inner lady parts (why would I have it on my inner parts?!) and she smeared some sort of lotion over the entire area that was never rubbed in. And she didn’t even get all of the hair off?! I get waxed every 30 days and have never had to shower after due to wax and lotion being all over. Not only a terrible wax job, but unsanitary to boot!!!

Great place! I came here with a Groupon and I know this will be my new go to place for eyebrows and stuff! Farrah was great! She’s informative and very friendly. She got me a nice discount for visiting for the first time. I will be recommending this place to my friends for sure. Try it out if you’re looking for a great salon! :-)
