I love Kate Spade products. Form the shoes to the handbags to the office/​desk items to the beautiful jewelry, a gift from Kate Spade is just perfect. What I really like is the simple, classic lines of the handbags along with the gold hardware and detailing. It’s all very feminine and pretty. The price points are reasonable for the quality of the products and are a lot less expensive than some of the other high end retailers on Oak Street.

I love Kate Spade even more (if that’s possible) after my experience at the store this week.
I received a gorgeous KSNY watch for my birthday and needed to get it sized. I called the Oak Street store seeing if someone would be able to take out a link or two. They said yes and to come in when I would like. Went after work on Monday, spoke to the manager and a couple employees (all very nice and helpful). The manager went in the back to size the watch, but unfortunately came back five minutes later with some sad news: the pins were too tight for her to remove! No worries though, she explained they would take it to a jeweler (as they have better equipment) and would then overnight the watch to me when it was complete. All on their dime. My watch came yesterday, beautifully packaged, like it was a brand new watch!
This store has it’s act together. I might need to do more shopping in the store than online going forward!
Also, I appreciate the customer service of the staff. They will greet you, ask if you need any help, and then leave you to browse. No annoying sales woman peeking over my shoulder saying how great the bag I was looking at would look on me (duh, it would look great). They give just the right amount of attention and it is greatly appreciated.

I feel a little ill-​qualified to do a true review of this store because I didn’t do any actual browsing. My wife knew what she wanted, I called to see if they had it, and that was about the extent of it.
Well, kinda.
I walked in and the girl had the purse set aside that I was going to buy. My wife had been oohing and ahhing over this thing for weeks, and I caught the pattern just long enough to commit it to memory so I’d be able to spot it in the store. Fortunately or unfortunately, the first Kate Spade I checked out did not have it, but they called the other store, which is conveniently located about a block and a half away. So I walked over, and the very friendly, very helpful cashier was nice enough to actually model the purse for me so I could confirm with my wife that she wanted it. I took a picture of the girl carrying it, then sat down at the back of the store to text my wife until she decided whether or not she wanted me to get it.
I don’t go to Oak Street for surprises. You have to definitely be sure you want something before I hand over my plastic.
For the friendliness of the clerk, I am gladly giving five stars.

Kate Spade makes cute stuff, questionable whether it’s worth the cost. This store is average for the company. Smallish store with a lot of stuff, so it feels a bit cluttered. Staff is nice enough, but definitely feels less genuinely nice and more baldly commercial than some stores. The store is around lots of comparable stores, which is convenient.

Whether it’s this shop or the new one in Oak Brook Center, I can’t for the life of me get why anyone is still buying Kate Spade clothes and accessories. The only thing going for the merchandise are the bright colors. However, color is not enough to compensate for the scratchy fabrics used for the overpriced dresses and blouses. Even the purses and accessories lack the quality expected for the prices charged. The store is pretty, the sales people friendly and everything is so polka dot bright and cheery. Still, I have no desire to take my soft leather wallet out to purchase one that feels like a cheap plastic.

I LOVE Kate Spade and I LOVE this store. It was dangerous to live so close for a few years. Whoops — there goes my pay check. But doesn’t matter, because like I said, love it. The staff was always very friendly and were helpful but let you do your own thing at the same time. At one point I ordered a calendar refill online but bought the wrong size, so I called this shop to see if they had the right size, they did and they told me I could bring in the one I had to exchange it vs. having to mail it back. Very helpful.

I stopped in looking for a specific pair of earrings last week. They weren’t available in the store but the staff was able to order them online for me and ship them overnight for free. Very helpful and friendly staff. Got my earrings today and love them. Thanks!

I wanted to spend my birthday money on a nice watch, so I stopped by Kate Spade. It’s tucked a little out of the way from most of the Michigan Ave pandemonium, which is nice. The only sad thing about going into Kate Spade, for me, is that I really want to buy pretty much everything in the store and can afford close to nothing. Everything is so well-​made, the colours are popping, and the styles always classic.
I tried on pretty much every watch, and found one I was really happy with, and walked out with it. Yay! Great customer service, as well.

I love Kate Spade, what I love even more is when I go to the store and my favorite sales girl, Stephanie is working! They truly have a gem of an employee working there! She is always so helpful, charming and her customer service is THE BEST that I have ever experienced in my life. Just recently my precious Blue Suzette coat was ruined by a clumsy waiter over Valentine’s day and had HUGE red wine stains all over it. Stephanie referred us to a dry cleaner to use, but unfortunately that didnt work out too well. Howver, when we requested the receipt to send to the restaurant, she went out of her way to go back to the Accounts dept to ask for a copy which they didnt have handy at the store, but was able to get it that day!
Stephanie is always polite and honest. She will be honest if something doesn’t look right or if its a grand slam! I like to shop alone, but its always nice to have someone give an honest opinion rather than trying to «make a sale»
AND! I was recently at the Broome St location in NYC and all I kept thinking was «I wish Stephanie was here. She’d know what to do!»
I always look forward to my shopping trips there bc I know I’ll be taken care of!

I never write reviews unless I received amazing customer service or the complete opposite and in this instance it’s the latter. So yes this is a very lengthy review, but bare with me here. Let me say, I’ve worked in retail for over 10 years & this by far is one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve EVER encountered. & it’s even more surprising to me that it happened there, because of all the times I’ve been in that store, they’ve always been so helpful and fun to shop with. I’m the type of customer who every sales person wants to come in, the one fully equipped with a list of things that I need to buy! I wasn’t greeted when I walked in, it took about 25 minutes til I was asked if I needed help, mind you I knew how some stores off Oak St are, you really need to dress the part. Coming in sweats and not in your best, you won’t get helped, which is unfortunate.
After I mentioned to them the items I needed, most they didn’t have because they were «exclusives», to me I asked «what does that mean?». That could be exclusive to just the actual home stores of Kate Spade NY and that department stores such as Nordstrom wouldn’t carry. They don’t clarify that on the website ‘exclusive’ means online only, which I wish they would so then I wouldn’t have gone all the way down Oak st which was a hassle within itself. I did purchase a couple items that they did have in stock and asked if they could gift wrap it, also that I’d come back later in the day to pick it up because I had other shopping to do. They said that would be fine and they’d have it ready by the time I returned.
A couple hours later I come back ready for my pickup, they were all nicely wrapped and I asked the sales associate which items were in which box because they were going to different individuals. After she described what was inside, I simply asked if I could have gift boxes to the items I’ll be purchasing online so I could avoid the $ 7 gift wrapping fee. The manager then told me that she couldn’t do that for me because I would need to purchase the items first. I looked at her stunned and told her that I was ordering online because they didn’t have in stock so how could I? She didn’t understand where I was coming from and I just left the store frustrated.
I gave some gifts early and with my luck, it just got worse. The girl mixed up the gifts in the boxes, by putting larger items in smaller boxes so they had a tight fit and smaller items in big boxes. So imagine the embarrassment of me having to take the ‘gift’ back from the person and telling them that wasn’t theres?! Or even worse if it was shipped out of state and had to do it?! I was absolutely furious when that happened and still ordered the ‘exclusive’ items online as well as adding the $ 7 gift wrap fee for the items. I emailed customer service simply asking how would I know what’s inside so I wouldn’t the ruin the gift wrap job I paid for them to do. & believe it or not this is what the email I received .
Which of course made me even more upset because I’m paying you to giftwrap my items, then I have to unwrap them again to find out whats inside and rewrap after. If that’s the case, you should’ve just given me the boxes in store so I could do it myself. I replied in the nicest way possible expressing my disappointment in the customer service I received both online and in store and that I would no longer be shopping with Kate Spade anymore. what did I receive as a response back? THE VERY SAME EMAIL REPLY AS SHOWN ABOVE FROM THE SAME EXACT PERSON. I do plan on calling corporate to let them the ‘customer service’ I’ve received and let’s hope that it’s a better turn out that the previous encounter.
BTW if I could rate them without any stars, I WOULD.

I visited this Kate Spade location for the first time for a holiday shopping event and it was just as fantastic as I hoped. The small space is filled with the brand’s gorgeous shoes, accessories, bags, clothing, and other fun finds. It was a busy night but the staff handled the crowd extremely well and were very helpful. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

I had a wonderful experience at Kate Spade the other day. The sales associates were extremely helpful and friendly. I purchased a dress with my fiancé for our engagement party and not only did they go out of their way to help me with the dress but they provided excellent customer service. I am a huge Kate Spade fan and this store is literally like a candy shop for Kate Spade! Not only do I absolutely love my dress but the whole shopping experience really made my day!

i was honestly shocked to see such a poor rating for this store. i wouldn’t call myself a kate addict per se, but if you asked me to dump the contents of my purse out, you’d find a kate wallet, a kate planner, a kate iphone case. well, you get the picture. the fact is, kate makes absolutely wonderful (and colorful) accessories to spruce up your wardrobe.
i popped in today for a couple things, prepared for the worst (thanks to the reviews), and left with a relatively great experience.
i was greeted immediately and didn’t feel like i was overly pressed for sales. i think it’s safe to say that they’ve likely received feedback and are working on balancing «eager to sell» with «give customers space».
my only real gripe is the fact that i felt i had a newb ring me up. i explained that i’ve relocated back from dc and that i changed my address out there a bunch, so it would take a moment to locate me. none of my information popped up. that’s.not possible. in turn, i had to give her my new information, but i’m afraid my client history has been compromised now. no bueno.
i’ll be back, and when the time comes, hopefully they’ll be able to find me in the system.

Yikes! Extremely small, crowded store filled with aggressive salespeople. Claustrophobic. I couldn’t wait to get out of there. Salesgirl kept recommending things I wasn’t interested in at all and, of course, they were all much more expensive than the bag I was considering. ended up buying a much cuter bag at Furla.

The stuff is cute, all colorful and girly. I just bought a gold coast bag here for work. I mean I have chanel and LV purses but I don’t want to show those off at work just to make peers or bosses think I am all material. And kate spade is more low-​key.

im so suprised to read bad reviews. I stopped into store for the first time this past weekend and was so pleasantly suprised. i remember the plain black cloth purses which were in style years ago so was hesitant to go in. So happy I did. Such a colorful, inviting and cute store. The selection of bright new color bags and jewelery was awesome. the sales staff were very nice — i had fun shopping there. I would recommend!!! I did not feel like they were on commission. I genuinely had fun shopping. Much lower price point on purses than most other shops in that area –and he selection of purses was fun and different. I’m looking forward to using my new blue berry jam quinn bag — even the name is fun.

This shop is very tiny, and you will be harassed by sales girls the second you walk in the door. When I told them I was here to return something, their attitude completely changed and the staff became very rude.
I’d avoid this store. If you want to shop at Kate Spade, just do it online. You can always find discount codes online.

I used to hate Kate Spade with a sincere vengeance (who wants to pay $ 500 for a tiny singular color coin purse [read: handbag] with zero personality cause it has ‘Kate Spade’ stamped on it in little gold foil?) until I found out that they had the right size agenda refills for my pocket planner. I went to Crane’s first to pick some up and the selection was limited, so I strolled over to lovely Oak Street and into the COLOR SHOCK that is Kate Spade.
Who knew? Beautifully designed bags, colorblock dresses and personality abound. Thank you Ms. Kate for upping the ante.
Plus the sold me the entire agenda set for $ 38 instead of my having to buy it piece by piece.

I was a Kate Spade carrying snot in high school, but don’t really like her anymore. It’s just too all American for me. Shoes are cute (a little on the colorful side) and her china line is pretty fab (perfect china for brunch parties, but why would you buy the china line if you can get Bernardaud??)
She still has the same bags that I wore in high school with a few new colorful additions. I don’t know… they remind me of wholesome mommies and diaperbags.
Jack Spade is pretty cool for guys and I hear the bags are highly functional. But my beau sticks with his TUMI!
