Kanan Cruises

I brought a Groupon deal for the Tuesday happy hour after work cruise. what a great deal I enjoyed and my friend did too. I wish it came with a drink and some food. but all in all it was a great cruise. one of the best cruise boat I’ve been on.

I found a deal on Groupon for a Monday Night Happy Hour Cruise for two and I have to say that I’m glad that I did!!!
Now, this ship had some cardboard looking pizza that was not included in the price of the ticket but we didn’t end up buying any so I can’t say if it was good or not!!!
I do have to say that they did allow us to bring food on the ship which was nice but not water… which I didn’t know and I ended up leaving my two bottles of smart water on the side and I was surprised that it was still there after the cruise!
We also didn’t get any of the drinks because we thought they were a bit on the expensive side so we just ordered some sprite and went to the top deck to enjoy the beautiful skyline!
I wish we would have went inside the ship earlier and danced because by the time we did we only had 30 mins of dance time left and I swear the DJ was jammin and it was like the cherry on top of a wonderful evening.

I bought two tickets to a Kanan Boat Cruise. My first cruise was scheduled in September, and it got rescheduled because someone else booked it??? Why are they double booking? Fine. Then I rescheduled for a time in October. I got a phone call a few hours before the boat ride that it was double booked again! A huge inconvenience after making lots of plans to get down to Navy Pier (I don’t live right next door). So now, the weather is getting cold, no more boat rides to reschedule, so they want me to spend the money I paid on a pub crawl. Horrible service, wish I could just get a refund and be over with this!

So… the boat was seized by the federal marshalls yesterday and kanan is now out of business! Nice. I had 2 cruises booked!

worst experience ever!!! i was looking foward to this cruise and me and my fiancé took off work, we rushed to get ready, we get there and THEY CANCEL OUR CRUISE!!! The lady told us some guy rented the whole yacht last minute for a bridal shower and decided to cancel our cruise that we RSVP a long time ago. im sorry we are not as rich as that guy and couldnt afford the whole yacht. assholes! about 30 people were there and had to leave.

Enjoyable Tuesday night out. I’d never heard of Kanan until they started offering deals on Groupon and LivingSocial. Don’t expect Spirit or Odyssey, some people were surprised there was no food (except some average looking pizza slices). It is exactly as advertised: a happy hour cruise.
They take you out into the lake then float around for 2 hours with the skyline as your backdrop. Drinks are $ 7 each, but unfortunately it’s only well liquor. There’s a dancefloor if you feel like boogeying, or you can get there early to snag an outdoor table to relax and enjoy the view.
I wouldn’t pay $ 25 for this, but with the $ 10 deal, I definitely got my money’s worth. Note: Kanan is at the very end of the Pier, so allow enough time to walk down there.

My best friend decided that she wanted to do a boat cruise for her 30^th birthday. We had a hard time finding any boats that were doing cruises on Tuesday July 3^rd. Then we found a deal for half off 2 hour Happy Hour Cruises from Kanan for $ 10. We couldn’t have been happier. Event at $ 20, this is worth it.
The Happy Hour Cruise left Navy Pier at 6:30pm and returned about 8:30pm. It is a large boat at the end of Navy Pier. The inside is really lovely, the first floor is like a fancy lounge with sofas and a piano. Another level as a dance floor and large round tables, the top deck has some outdoor seating. They had nice stemware available (but our drinks were served in plastic cups which was reasonable for a happy hour event). It really has everything!
There is no food for sale on the happy hour cruise, but there are plenty of drink options. All of the drinks are $ 7 each, or 3 for $ 20. These weren’t well liquor, so I think they were reasonable priced. (I expected to be gouged).
We had a great time! This was a really great group event!

I really enjoyed my time during the diner cruise on the Kanan ship. The ship had 3 levels and 2 bars. The drinks were good and bar tenders were willing to work with you to create a drink to liking. :D super plus! They had a decent selection of tasty food, especially their delicious chocolate cake!!! I had 2 servings and had no remorse! The draw backs were the long lottery dependent wait (great if you get called right away, but we had to wait 3 colors before our meal ticket color was selected) this was a little annoying, especially when your starved– which i was. I considered eating the table cloth! The music was geared to a younger city crowd — they played B96, top 10 type songs (i felt a little bad for the elderly crowd). I danced the night away, ate, and drank well.

Great Sunday brunch cruise ship especially on a beautiful fall day! Last about 2 hours and is enjoyable. Nothing super fancy or especially satisfying foodwise but overall a really fun time.
Brunch:
The food isn’t awesome– buffet brunch with eggs, «Italian-​style» chicken (chicken with red sauce and peppers), bacon, sausage, french toast, and muffins. It’s kinda like a breakfast buffet that comes free with your hotel. It’s nothing really tasty, but it’s good enough.
Drinks:
The line tends to be long but man they make those drinks strong. For a boat bar, it had a pretty good selection of mixed cocktails options.
Entertainment:
The DJ was pretty awesome. Really entertaining. The dancefloor (ewas packed, and people were dancing in the aisles between tables and up on the top deck. He had good range with lots of wedding type tunes… Electric slide, cha cha slide, etc. but he also tossed in some booty music. Plus they taught a couple line dances. Pretty hilarious to watch some grandmas trying to do the wobble!
Get in line early so you can grab a good seat!

Great location for your afternoon boat cruise. Kanan really does an incredible job. This is my favorite of all the boats on Navy Pier.

Kanan Cruises is an exciting and unique venue for any kind of celebration. I have had the opportunity to host several events here inlcuding a New Year’s Eve party in 2007, a birthday party, a corporate event, and I will be hosting an upcoming Engagement party. Not only is the venue different, but people love the beautiful views you get of the city and the ability to move around on the 4 different levels of the cruise ship.
The staff at Kanan is very informative, helpful, and kind. I have never had any problems and they are willing to do anything to make sure your event goes perfectly smooth.
I am looking forward to my engagement party here in September!

You aren’t Donald Trump or the Hef so you’re probably not going to own your own cruise ship. AND i’m sure your friends, family, etc don’t want to be crammed into your studio apartment listening to your ipod shuffle. SO if you’re looking to go all out for a unique event experience I recommend giving Kanan a look.
Awesome special event space! These guys did a great job executing our event and taking care of every little detail. The staff was on top of everything, food was excellent and kept at perfect temps, music sound throughout was nice and the view was fabulous!
