Jones Academy

I just recently removed my 19 month old from Jones Academy. When I first toured the facility, I was very impressed with the inside and how the classrooms were set up. Overall, they do a great job keeping the facility clean and in order. However, the truth about management and the teachers began to evolve.
I won’t make this long.
The second week my daughter attended this daycare, her teacher (coming off her weekend break), on a Monday morning, smelled like a walking bottle of liquor. So much that I’m sure she was still feeling it. Since the weekends are theirs and they do as they please, I did not report her but I spoke with her to the side. While she never did that again, it was a bad decision on my part.
The staff here are not as attentive as I believe they should be, especially with toddlers. Hence the reason I believe my child was bitten on her back and just recently clawed in the face. While the owner is sort of «open» she does more making excues than actually addressing the issues.
Speaking of the owner, she keeps her voicemail box full so you can never leave a message. She sometimes gives her work cell phone to her son so when parents call, he answers and says, «I’ll give her the message» but never does.
They have a really bad habit of yelling and speaking to the children with bad diction and aggression. One of the teachers are up in age and the toddlers are too much for her to handle so she gets frustrated quickly and pulls kids to the side and is aggressive.
They are usually good at keeping my daughter clean but since they’ve had new staff come in, I’ve picked her up twice and she was sitting in poop.
I was very disappointed with the cirruculum as they do not challenge the children. I work with my daughter often and she recognizes some colors, shapes and letters, however, Mrs. Jones insisted that she is not at that development stage and they are not ready for recognition. This is NOT true… at all! My daughter is very smart as I’m sure some of the other toddlers as well.
At the end of the day, I would not recommend this daycare for your toddler but the teachers on the infant side are GREAT! They are very nuturing and attentive.
I could say more but this would turn into a 5 page thing! It is all honest. I support Black business but right is right and wrong is wrong.

I’m a first time mom, so finding an acceptable daycare was a long road for me. Luckily, I didn’t have to enter my son in and out of centers… I liked this place immediately when I found it. The owner, Mrs Jones, is the sweetest lady and my sons teachers are very friendly, and absolutely love my son. He gets excited to see them. They have ensured me that leaving him that he will be in good hands. He loves the colorful rooms and the attention they give him. The summer had a different schedule were the infants could bring books, cds, and various activities (wet day, twin day, treat for a friend)…those things made it seem fun. My son does things that I know he is learning from there and I’m happy to see he is learning. The cost is very reasonable.
My only compliants are:
1. that you don’t get the daily record sheets that tell you how many times baby ate, napped, and had wet/​dirty diapers… which many of the centers do give you,
2. the staff may not be as knowledge about storage/​heating breast milk,
3. I wish they opened at 6 versus 6:30 am.
