Joey is amazing! I usually get a high fade and a bit off the top. Joey is a methodical machine, he knows exactly what he’s doing and doesn’t waste one snip of the scissors. Honestly, I try to to tip him the cost of a haircut because he deserves it!
You know what you’re getting every time. The hot shave on the edges for clean lines all around is always a nice touch to make the cut look extra fresh.
There is one review that claims he took one of his buddies before it was his turn and I can almost promise I know what happened. People come in and get in line, while they are waiting they may want to run and grab a coffee or have a smoke outside… you do not lose your spot when you come back! First timers don’t know this though.
If you get annoyed by waiting, try calling before you leave to get a gauge of how many people are before you. He is first come first serve and I have never seen him take anyone before it was their turn.

This place is the definition of bad customer service. The guy claims that he only operates in «first come first serve basis» until one of his buddy’s decides to show up and cut everyone in line. I would stay away from this place unless you know the barber. its very unfortunate to see that some businesses haven’t realized how much power customers really have.

Best haircut ever. The guy is MAGICAL with his hands. True barber who takes time on his clients. When I watch him work on my hair, it’s like a work of art to him.

I had a really good experience with my son here. The wait can be a little long, but overall the owner did a great job with his hair and we thought the price was fair.

Joeyz Haircut is the best place to get a haircut/​beard trim/​whatever cut you need.
I’ve been coming to him for 4 years now and even when I lived in California for a year I made it a point to see him when I visited.
Hot wax on the neck to get the small hairs where others use just a trimmer. He goes above and beyond.
Sometimes there are wait times but even when there’s a room full of people he turns them out very quickly. Thanks for all the help, Joe!

Good hair cut as I’m simple with my style but the wait is absolutely outrageous. Holding personal conversations with other people and getting coffee orders out of the way while people have been waiting for over 1.5 hours is completely ridiculous. You’re a single operator, fantastic, but keep in mind it’s rude. Never coming back.

I took my 2 year old son here for a haircut and he did a perfect job. He worked fast and efficient and my son stayed well in the chair for him. This is our new spot for his haircuts after the first place went wrong.

Excellent work at a fair price. You can get a real beard trimming with a razor. I’d give 5 stars if it weren’t for the long lines but the services are worth the wait.

The experience was amazing! The barber looked at a bad cell phone picture for 5 seconds and got the exact hair cut I wanted! He seemed so focus and every cut was carefully calculated and for $ 12 this was the best hair cut I have ever received in Chicago hands down.

Finding out that Joey is a gifted thread artist was quite a surprise. Not only is he skilled at his craft, he is always so friendly that I don’t mind waiting for him. He is worth it. He always makes me feel so pretty! You’ve got a loyal customer in this gal!

If you need a haircut for an interview, or if you just want to get complements from the ladies, if you miss one night stands go see Joey. He’s clean, fast and professional. I live in Humboldt Park now and I drive all the way here just to see him. He’s 100% worth the drive and I don’t even delete the selfie after taking it.

1. $ 12 for a men’s haircut is a solid deal for a quality haircut.
2. I’ve never spent more than 30 minutes inside even though I’ve never called ahead.
3. They do a great job cutting hair and you can tell they pay close attention to the details.

I’ve been going to Joey for almost 2 years now. He’s always given me a great haircut. If you are looking for a barber who is skilled at giving a 0 guard fade, Joey is the man. His shop is right of the expressway, so it is really easy to get to and parking is easy to find along the side streets. He’s also skilled at cleaning you up with the straight razor and warm lather shave.
He does get busy on Friday nights and Saturdays, so I recommend catching him during the week if you can. Haircuts are all drop-​ins, first come first serve.

I’ve been coming here for about 4 years now. Used to be in my neighborhood. I moved to Ukrainian village a couple years ago and still keep coming back. Great haircut for cheap. And gotta love the straight razor shave. Joey is the man.

I’ve been going to Joey for almost 2 years now and I don’t know why it took me this long to write a review. But better late than never right? So here it is…
Joey came from humble beginnings and it shows. He is very genuine, compassionate, and very friendly. I heard he left a barbershop he worked for to open up his own. From what I can tell, that is a very gutsy move. But it paid off big time and couldn’t be any happier for him.
His haircuts are always on point and he will make you walk out of his establishment, looking better. If not, then you were ugly to begin with and he’s no miracle worker.

I live downtown but happened to be in the area and needed a haircut. I pulled up Unilocal and Joey had 20+ glowing reviews. I’m happy to report its all true :) He has a special $ 5 new customer haircut on Mon, Tues & Wed which I thought was pretty generous. He has all the stuff guys like there… large screen LCD tuned into news or sports, magazines, and comfortable chairs.
He has by far the fastest scissor cut I’ve ever seen and the results were great! I’m a talker and he was gracious as I asked him questions the whole time.
It was easy to find street parking so if you’re in the area, Joeys your guy!
